[snip] Under the new system, the Playoff field will be composed of the top six conference champions among the 10 active conferences, plus six wild-card teams, guaranteeing a spot for a Group of Five team. The top four conference champions will get byes into the quarterfinals, while the remaining eight teams will play first-round games at the home stadiums of the higher-seeded teams.

College football teams will end up playing as many games as the pros - 17. Which is way too many for collegiate football players. Injuries and health will be at risk in the quest for the bookoo $$$ the TV networks will pay and make with the new playoff system.
The teams' regular season schedule must be adjusted accordingly to meet the potential wear and tear on the athletes. A longer season with multiple bye weeks. Less non conference games.
At least now with the NIL, the athletes are being compensated. They should also share in the new playoff $$$ and TV revenue as they will be paying the price on their health.

When I chose to boycott the NFL, I extended that to NFL prospects, ie "College" Football. I put "College" in "quotes" because "College" football is an oxymoron. "College" football is merely a training program for the NFL, hence my boycott. And, yes, I also boycott High School football and, just for completeness, I boycott soccer and hacky sack. Anything to do with podiatry and sports.

This year proves the the need to expand from four teams is not needed. Do not forget that majority of players do not get

Everyone gets a trophy? Everyone participates? I'm surprised that they are going to keep score. Pass out certificates to the snowflakes. It's really all about the money not who actually wins.

Ohio State is far from categorically out of the playoff picture. They've simply become temporary fans of Utah and Kansas State.
As a Crimson Tide fan, I welcome the new faces and the opportunities the new playoffs will provide, despite the fact that I would have simply limited it to the top 8 teams going straight to a quarterfinal.

More concussions, more skeletal injuries, more, more, more money for the schools and the conferences.
Most football players do not go on to the NFL, most NFL players are bankrupt within 5 years after retirement, too many of the football players wind up brain-dmaged, and suffer from dementia.
This expansion of play-offs, which run into spring semester, make a joke out of the term student athlete. But the coaches who run dirty programs with a wink and a nod from their university president, will continue to make even higher salaries and bonuses. If you wanted to corrupt the higher education system, expanding the play offs is a good start.

Ironic that the agreement comes the same week NCAA darling Ohio State gets bounced from this year's playoff picture. Six wild card teams? May as well say, five wild card teams plus Notre Dame. The Rose Bowl traditionalists held out the longest - New Year's Day, Rose Parade, Pac-12, Big Ten, local sunset reflecting off the San Gabriel mountains. Now, it's just another quarterfinal game that may include a 3-loss team.
