At the Capri Theater in north Minneapolis Saturday, there was a celebration of a new state law. A law that restores voting rights to Minnesotans who’ve served time in jail or prison. “It’s long overdue that we’ve corrected this injustice,” declared Antonio Williams, of St. Paul. “I think it’s long overdue. We talk about our democracy, we talk about inclusion, but we haven’t truly lived it as a government.” A ‘Restore the Vote’ gathering was hosted by The Power of People Leadership Institute. (snip) On March 3, Governor Tim Walz signed the Felon Voting Rights Bill.

Walz and his Sorosites fundamentally changing Minnetaxes.. one giant step at a time.. they'll NEED those new votes..

Isn’t the purpose of prison to deprive people of certain rights they would ordinarily have as Americans? What a cynical move by Democrats — most inmates are black and/or poor/Democrats. Giving them the vote ups the Democrat vote count in any election. Transparent as hell but as Tony Soprano said, “What you gonna do?”

I personally have no problem with restoration of ALL the privileges of citizenry once someone has fully served their time - including probation. Otherwise every sentence is for LIFE.

3, once someone has violated the rights of another, how does jail time for the criminal in any way restore the lost rights of their victim? Felonies are serious crimes. We're not talking about graffiti at a bus stop. A felon has shown they do not respect our civilization. At other times and places in history they would have been exiled or executed. That we allow them to rejoin society at all is already a huge gift. Letting them vote and thus have impact on all of society is not something to be taken lightly and assumed right or good for civilization.

I am really torn on this one and I will explain. From the article: "Williams says he served 14 years in prison, after he was convicted on an aiding and abetting homicide charge." When it comes to murder, I have a tough time justifying this action. The thought that keeps getting in the way is the murdered person won't be able to vote and this person aided and abetted the murder of this person so to reply #3, the murdered person's sentence was DEATH.

But I'll bet Antonio fully understands whenever a hockey player commits an egregious error that he's then deserving of sitting out the game for awhile, or when Olympic athletes are caught "doping" that they're kicked out of the games, or stripped of their medals, and Antonio is probably the last person in America to go to bat for Lance Armstrong to be re-admitted to cycling. Does Antonio really think that people who are career felons are now suddenly interested in politics, or is his only interest Democrat ballot collection and payouts to ex-felons?

the worded reason for the United States involvement in Vietnam was "the Domino Theory" well, if we look at it with a microscopic eye we can see the Dominos falling all over this country to the communists and their affiliates, the demcommie party. the west coast is rapidly becoming anti-United States, the deep southwest is losing its connection to the other continental states, the east coast dominos from Maine to the Carolinas are falling, if they haven't fallen already and the midwest, the Heartland of our country, is beginning to crumble with Minnesota becoming more like Somalia than the Minnesota we used to know, Illinois has been demcommie dominated since God knows when, Wisconsin has been in a systemic alteration since the 60's, Indiana is melting away to the demcommie influence, ie: communist china / Soviet Union and down the Mississippi Rover to Arkansas, the demcommies have influenced the social and political climate for a very long time. this is like an autopsy of the continental United States taking place right before our eyes and is very dangerous and must be stopped people have to stop watching and reading communist leaning media and tune into and begin reading more non-communist media - Nikita Khrushchev said it back in the 60s when he stated that the Soviet Union will "bury" the United States and with communism there is no timeline or predicted dates of domination, so, time is still on their side and their systemic takeover of our country is well under way

Why stop at just granting them voting rights? Give them reparations. A new house. A new car. A seat on the city council. A Get Out of Jail Free card for their next crime spree. Let them get revenge on the jury that convicted them. The Future will not be pretty and will be a whole lot less civilized.

Since MN is one of the states where cheating by democrats is acceptable and apparently encouraged, this is just the next step -- allow those who have seriously violated the law vote since they will (the democrats hope) help them cheat.

"As part of its outreach, the institute is hoping to help formerly incarcerated people to navigate the voting process." It used to be you registered to vote, you received you're registration card, you went to the designated place to vote on voting day. Today, it's how many ballots do you need, we can come by and fill them out for you, you have many days before and after the voting day to vote, let us know if you need extra ballots for your family, friends or neighbors. There will be drop boxes all over the city. Vote as often as you like.
