Bill Walton calls out Mayor Todd Gloria
for allowing the homeless to destroy San Diego

As we all know, San Diego’s homeless crisis is only getting worse under the leadership of Mayor Todd Gloria, who continues to pretend like he is working to fix the issue. But all his efforts have failed. [snip] San Diego native Bill Walton is publicly calling out Mayor Todd Gloria’s failure publicly, saying Gloria has “failed us and yourself.” The Voice of San Diego reports that Walton has sent a series of emails to Mayor Gloria’s office, detailing his personal encounters with our homeless population.

Comments:

Officially non-partisan by state law, the gay mayor of America's Finest City was endorsed by both Brylcreem and Moonbeam so you get the picture. Walton was harrassed and chased while bike riding in Balboa Park; further downtown, the Catholic homeless shelter 5 blocks from Petco Park has become the hub for encampments in the area that is making parking on that side of the stadium a bad idea.

All the evil which besets Californians and their communities was entirely predictable. Their elected officials are exemplars of Democrat idiocy and California voters have only themselves to blame. I have no interest in spending one copper penny to save this state and when Heaven blows a trumpet and lays waste to this cesspool of evil I will pray for the innocent.

Just another unsurprising instantiation of the California rot. The big money is just waiting for property values to totally crash so they can buy up paradise cheap. Homeless are not a bug, but a feature.

I sure as heck didn't for for Gloria. it was bad enough before but I knew it was going to get a lot worse when he won. The only media in town worth a cent is KUSI, that is where the weather guy John Coleman used to work. I will not go to Padre games or anything else downtown due to having to deal with the criminals living on the streets.

Attended financial seminars in San Diego every year. Many nice sidewalks, shops and beaches. Rarely saw the homeless and the place seemed a beautiful place to live. Probably never go there again.

This is unfortunate, San Diego was always one of the most liveable enclaves in all of Southern California. Nothing is safe from the liberal plague. After the incredible successes of Mayor Pete, one might get the idea that gayness is the most important quality in managing a city.

We'll Bill, I left San Diego in 1974 when I joined the military. I'd go back for visits but those stopped in 2009 after my mom died. I'm glad I grew up there in the early 1960's to mid 70's. San Diego was a great place then. Sad to see it look like Frisco and LA.

Surprisingly comprehensible, given his typical comments due to his addled 'purple drank' brain is normally impossible to understand. (people who work closely with him are very open about his broadcasting ripped out of his mind ) This is just another NIMBY situation. I predict there will be be more to follow. BTW, Walton was one of the best College bball players to ever play the game. His 1st move quickness was unparalleled! Too bad he never recovered from a foot injury and lingered too long.
