Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon said he has the support of most voters and will continue to do the work of the people despite half a million verified signatures of those who want him removed.
Gascon spoke to the local Fox affiliate in his first public interview since a failed recall effort, saying the campaign to oust him was “water under the bridge” and that he will move forward with plans to keep the community safe.
He didn’t say how he would mend relationships with 98% of prosecutors who backed his recall or why he has never met with any of them in person.

Donald Trump, despite staying mum on an official decision and announcement for the hotly-anticipated 2024 presidential content, nevertheless continues to drop hints and clues about his political future. In his recent interview with the Washington Examiner, Trump conceded that he at least had eliminated one potential running mate.
Coming as a shock to few, the former president suggested that returning to the campaign trail with

Former President Donald Trump has once again done the improbable: He has turned a possible federal criminal investigation into a political positive.
In the days since the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, Trump has rallied the Republican Party behind him to a degree not seen since he was in the White House, once again sucking all the oxygen out of the room for other Republicans who might want to run for president in 2024 or are on the ballot in other races this year.
The big question is whether Trump can sustain this momentum as more information about the FBI search is made public, including what exactly the bureau was looking for,

END TRUMP RAID SECRECY. There's a line at the end of an Axios newsletter that sums up everything that is wrong about media coverage and public discussion of the FBI's unprecedented raid on the home of former President Donald Trump. "These investigations are top secret," Axios's Mike Allen wrote. "So more likely than not, we won't get the full picture any time soon."
The bad word is secret. Excessive secrecy gave rise to wild, absolutely crazy speculation during the years of the Trump-Russia "collusion" investigation. Little bits of information would leak, upon which journalists and other talking heads would build elaborate structures of speculation.

There are factions of conservative Republicans who are steadfast in their opposition to Donald Trump, and accordingly, they approve of Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and her efforts opposing the former president. ‘Never-Trumpers,’ they’re sometimes called. There aren’t many, but you may indeed know a few. Trump is a narcissist, and Liz is just standing up to him, they’ll tell us. Trump attacked our democracy on January 6th, and Cheney is protecting our country, they’ll insist. Liz is the one who’s an authentic Republican, not a Johnny-come-lately like Mr. Trump, they’ll say.
But Liz Cheney has now lifted the veil. She’s not some principled, well-intentioned conservative

Taiwan has issued a chilling assessment of China's explosive military tests held around the island this week. Taiwan said Saturday that China’s military drills appear to simulate an attack on the self-ruled island, after multiple Chinese warships and aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan’s armed forces issued an alert, dispatched air and naval patrols around the island, and activated land-based missile systems in response to the Chinese exercises, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said. The island's leadership also announced it detected four unmanned aerial vehicles flying in the vicinity of the offshore county of Kinmen on Friday night and fired warning flares in response. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is set to visit the heavily fortified Demilitarized Zone in South Korea as part of her high-profile Asia trip this week, according to reports.
Pelosi arrived in South Korea late Wednesday and is scheduled to visit the area that borders North Korea, according to Agence France-Presse, making her the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit the area since former President Donald Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in 2019.

Friends and family arrived for a graduation in May at the University of Denver. We forgot to warn them.
Once a cosmopolitan utopia of clean, safe, family-friendly neighborhoods and parks, Denver now looks and feels like a drug orgy. The stench of marijuana wafts through neighborhoods where a small percentage of family dwellings have transitioned into pot farms. Walking through much of Denver and other Colorado cities, one becomes accustomed to stepping over and around growing numbers of full-time drug users living on sidewalks, parks, medians, and lawns.
The broad-based degradation started when voters approved Amendment 64 in 2012,

Bruce Springsteen has been a wealthy man for a very long time. In 1973 he released his second album, The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle which featured the classic song, Rosalita. Toward the end of the song’s tale about budding romance and the reluctance of a young woman’s father to accept her suitor, Springsteen explains, “And the record company, Rosie, just gave me a big advance!” We bet they did Bruce.
Just two years later, Springsteen burst into superstardom in 1975 with his blockbuster album Born to Run, which resulted in him being one of the first entertainers ever to be featured on

The Republican National Committee will stop covering former President Donald Trump's legal bills if he announces a presidential bid for 2024 too soon, according to reports.
The RNC has paid almost $2 million in legal fees for the former president as he faces different investigations into his financial dealings and conduct during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, a committee official told ABC News. However, those payments will end soon after Trump announces a reelection bid because of the RNC’s policies on maintaining neutrality in elections — meaning if the former president announces a bid too soon, the RNC could stop contributing to his legal costs.

Former CNN host Chris Cuomo is set to join NewsNation as a prime-time host beginning this fall.
The hire was revealed as Cuomo appeared for an interview with NewsNation on Tuesday, his first television appearance since he was fired from CNN last year for his role in helping his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, combat sexual misconduct allegations.
"I want to build something special here," Cuomo said, adding that he does not think he cannot go back to what people see as the "big game" and touted a need for "insurgent media."
A statement from NewsNation was also released.

There is a multitude of remedies for digging an economy out of a recession or avoiding an economic recession altogether. There tends to be, however, a common thread amongst each of these methods. Since conditions that drive a recession typically emerge over long periods of time, it generally takes a comparable amount of time for our government officials and the Federal Reserve to correct our collective course.
If our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is lagging due to certain contributors, for instance, an injection of cash into the economy via government spending can jump-start our economy and push GDP growth back to the positive side of the ledger.
