There is a multitude of remedies for digging an economy out of a recession or avoiding an economic recession altogether. There tends to be, however, a common thread amongst each of these methods. Since conditions that drive a recession typically emerge over long periods of time, it generally takes a comparable amount of time for our government officials and the Federal Reserve to correct our collective course.
If our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is lagging due to certain contributors, for instance, an injection of cash into the economy via government spending can jump-start our economy and push GDP growth back to the positive side of the ledger.

It's not that the Democrats can't handle reality...the fact is the American public can't. Politicians lie by definition. Government lies abusing definitions. And the American public largely doesn't want to get involved in sorting it out. It can make their heads hurt inside.

Why not?
The early "recessions," were called "Panics."
Later they were called Depressions.
Then recessions, rolling recessions.
Now the new term seems to be "slowdown."
Whatever.
If you've lived thru others you know it is a bad thing for everybody-but-the-elitie.

They lie about EVERYTHING. It's always the case. They cannot tell you what they really PLAN to do and then they deny what they have really DONE.
Total liars, because the truth of their plans and their horrible destruction of the economy are too unpopular and they just won't admit either.....so they just lie some more.

The progressives have tried to establish that only THEY are entitled evaluate a situation and to set the associated message. They do this with the aid of their propaganda media that censors and filters information to their satisfaction. Thus, a recession is not a recession until they say it is a recession. The economy is not "bad" until they say so. Riots all summer long with huge property damages and personal assaults are "mostly peaceful". Shutting off oil production in the US and then begging Saudi Arabia for oil is perfectly rational. Repeated investigations with no facts to back them up is essential to democracy.
To the Masters of the Universe, this is all perfectly understandable and it is their right to do so.
The problem is, most of the Country think they are idiots and even criminals and the more they lie and try to distort obvious reality the more credibility they lose. Their media is no longer believed. The media itself has harped on the definition of a recession, especially when it might be to the detriment of Republicans. They will sound like morons if they try to reset the definition now. The WH is in La La Land (like Brandon) if they think they can sell the not-a-recession story especially when they try to add it to the inflation-really-is-not-that-bad that Brandon has been screaming at reporters about.

Recessions are always preceded by inflation, government deficits, and growing government debt. We do not grow out of a recession by increasing government spending. We grow out of a recession by reducing the government's percentage of the economy, and replacing non-productive zombie companies with productive businesses. We need a 50% reduction in DC, who's great ideas have robbed us of our freedom, and our standard of living.

$5/gallon gas and minimum 6 months to get a dishwasher tells me there is a recession. I don’t need ‘definitions’.

"Egg-zackly"..
'And if you take one from three hundred and sixty-five what remains?'
'Three hundred and sixty-four, of course.'
Humpty Dumpty looked doubtful. 'I'd rather see that done on paper,' he said.
Alice couldn't help smiling as she took out her memorandum book, and worked the sum for him:
365
1
----
364
----
Humpty Dumpty took the book and looked at it carefully. 'That seems to be done right —' he began.
'You're holding it upside down!' Alice interrupted.
'To be sure I was!' Humpty Dumpty said gaily as she turned it round for him. 'I thought it looked a little queer. As I was saying, that seems to be done right — though I haven't time to look it over thoroughly just now — and that shows that there are three hundred and sixty-four days when you might get un-birthday presents —'
'Certainly,' said Alice.
'And only one for birthday presents, you know. There's glory for you!'
'I don't know what you mean by "glory",' Alice said.
Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. 'Of course you don't — till I tell you. I meant "there's a nice knock-down argument for you!"'
'But "glory" doesn't mean "a nice knock-down argument",' Alice objected.
'When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.'
'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.'
'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master — that's all.'

@10. its a mostly peaceful recession. As several upthread have indicated, the left constantly obscures and willfully calls things that which they are not. The politically correct media plays CYA for Dems in this endeavor. Merriam and Webster have created a whirlwind spinning around in their graves.
