The Republican National Committee will stop covering former President Donald Trump's legal bills if he announces a presidential bid for 2024 too soon, according to reports.
The RNC has paid almost $2 million in legal fees for the former president as he faces different investigations into his financial dealings and conduct during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, a committee official told ABC News. However, those payments will end soon after Trump announces a reelection bid because of the RNC’s policies on maintaining neutrality in elections — meaning if the former president announces a bid too soon, the RNC could stop contributing to his legal costs.

Petty move. You think Trump cares about $2M in RNC-paid legal fees? This is a never-Trumper move that further shows how petty and disconnected the RNC is from boots-on-the-ground America. When Trump wins, he needs to gut and replace the RNC as it smells just like a swamp (or better yet--a sewer).

Which idiots at the RNC came up with this??
THEY didn't earn a penny of whatever money they give to any candidate. That money comes directly from people in the party who have, for decades, believed that they are contributing to a cause that represents their wishes and principles. But, over and over again the RNC fails to honor their members.
RNC mailings have either been directly dropped into my circular file OR returned in their postage-paid envelopes with a few carefully-chosen sentiments written inside. This "threat" of theirs merely serves to expose them as our enemy. I hope PDT had a good laugh when he read about the pittance they are holding over his head.

I return RNC solicitations I get with a note telling them to get back to me AFTER the Party ditches McConnell and McCarthy and gets some REAL leadership.
My money goes to candidates NOT the incumbent support committee.

Neither party is looking out for the country. Quite the opposite. They have wrecked it. The RNC is a reflection of Washington Republicans, and it's clear they do not want Trump.
They should all be fired. Both parties. They are doing the country a huge disservice.

Any letter I get in the mail with Republican National Committee in the return address has long gone unopened directly into the recycle bin.

Stupid move. Don’t they know President Trump never backs away from a challenge? If the RNC does this, it will likely have the opposite effect.

The RNC is dead to me. I thought I had finally escaped their mailing list but I was wrong. I received a “please donate” envelope that had only my name and address with Donald J. Trump in the upper right corner. I was about to open it when as I turned it over there it was … from the RNC. Straight into the trash.

The RNC paying for Trump? They ARE the RINO party, only supporting other RINOs!
Only those currently elected get money from them--
Newcomers, even those who won their primaries, don't get support, only the old low-T RINOs like McPain
The grassroots public has figured this out, and only donates to INDIVIDUAL candidates who are not part of the Establishment swamp in league with the demonrats

If this is verified, Ronna Romney must be FIRED immediately! President Trump needs to tell everyone to donate to candidates directly. Stop all funding of the RNC and similar Republican PACs. This is a final battle between the establishment and MAGA for control of the money.

The dumbest thing President Trump could do is announce before the mid-terms are over.
He would give the Democrats what they want, and that would be to stop talking about inflation, high gas prices, and the horrible economy the Democrats have given us.
He'd take all the oxygen out of the room, and none of the candidates would break through.

I don’t contribute to the RNC, but watch its $ dry up if they pull this. Even this threat could do it.

Trump is the engine that gets contributions to the RNC. I think they should go back and think about this. Let's be frank, Trump is the most popular politician in America. I don't see any lines to hear anyone else speak.
