I didn’t know who mike pence was before he ran for vp and i still don’t know anything about him. I have read articles about what he should have done regarding the 2020 election and on occasion have been persuaded but today I don’t remember what it was he was supposed to have been able to do in the short period of time he had. I can’t imagine what he could have done but if someone knows please remind me. Something so decisive that Trump would have been elected by the electoral college? But now he’s broken eggs. Other than raising money from the public I can’t imagine a reason for him to be in public life. Except that I presume he’s better than adam kinziger et al

Clueless Pence still doesn't realize that his political career is over. He will be opposing Trump in the primary and the debates will be hilarious. All he had to do on January 6th was support the real President and call for a prompt and thorough audit of the elections in the cheating states. If he can't fight for honesty in elections he obviously can't fight for the American people.

No clue who will be Trump's running mate, but it won't be Pence or Cheney. Since Trump is from Florida, kind of doubt he would pick a running mate from the same state. That would leave out two good choices. Since Washington is held in such low esteem, perhaps he should select an outsider for running mate. Don't know who that would be.

Couple of rules about choosing a Vice Presidential running mate: 1. Constitutionally, the President and Vice President can't be from the same state as Electors to the Electoral College cannot vote for a President and Vice President from the same state. In 2020, George W. Bush chose Dick Cheney. Dick was a resident of Texas (like Bush) at the time, but conveniently moved his residency back to Wyoming for his term of office (and it looks like he still is a resident as he showed up to vote for Losing Lizzie yesterday). 2. The VP pick is usually someone who can help you win or keep a tough state. Kennedy choosing LBJ was a perfect example. Generally, I'd like to think that a VP choice should insure that the candidate wins that person's home state. Paul Ryan did no such thing to help Romney in 2012. Perhaps we should be grateful to him for that (nothing else). 3. The VP should be someone that the Presidential candidate can trust and use as a key advisor. For his faults, Cheney probably fit that bill for W. Obviously, with the events of the past couple years, I would expect that trust between Trump and Pence is at best, strained. Personally, I don't blame Pence for what happened in the Congress on Jan. 6 (re: electoral vote count); unfortunatly, no court including SCOTUS, would hear the cases of what has since learned to be at least questionable election law enforcement. Yeah, proving actual theft would be hard, you and I know it probably happened, but proving it was another thing. By Jan. 6, the thieves had made off with the loot. and there wasn't much that Pence could legally do.

There are scores of variables that can impact the outcome of an election, and some are more critical than others. Who has the greatest number of lawn signs in a community? Whose spouse is more likable? Is the candidate a military veteran? Where do the candidates stand on hot-button social issues? And depending on the voter, any of these issues can play a huge role in determining how one votes. But there is one item that will trump all others when crunch time arrives, particularly when it comes to the coveted ‘independent voter.’ While huge swaths of the electorate will vote strictly

As Democrats nationally campaign on abortion access following the Supreme Court's June ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, a red-state Democrat is bucking the trend. Democrat Mark Haugen, who is challenging Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) for North Dakota’s at-large congressional district, is running a campaign focused on key issues for the state: the 2023 farm bill and improving access to healthcare for rural residents. But it is his position on abortion that is drawing attention, as it sets him apart from most other candidates in his party this cycle. “I never hid my pro-life beliefs,” Haugen told the Washington Examiner in

Former President Donald Trump has once again done the improbable: He has turned a possible federal criminal investigation into a political positive. In the days since the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, Trump has rallied the Republican Party behind him to a degree not seen since he was in the White House, once again sucking all the oxygen out of the room for other Republicans who might want to run for president in 2024 or are on the ballot in other races this year. The big question is whether Trump can sustain this momentum as more information about the FBI search is made public, including what exactly the bureau was looking for,

END TRUMP RAID SECRECY. There's a line at the end of an Axios newsletter that sums up everything that is wrong about media coverage and public discussion of the FBI's unprecedented raid on the home of former President Donald Trump. "These investigations are top secret," Axios's Mike Allen wrote. "So more likely than not, we won't get the full picture any time soon." The bad word is secret. Excessive secrecy gave rise to wild, absolutely crazy speculation during the years of the Trump-Russia "collusion" investigation. Little bits of information would leak, upon which journalists and other talking heads would build elaborate structures of speculation.

Trump is a narcissist, and Liz is just standing up to him, they’ll tell us. Trump attacked our democracy on January 6th, and Cheney is protecting our country, they’ll insist. Taiwan has issued a chilling assessment of China's explosive military tests held around the island this week. Taiwan said Saturday that China’s military drills appear to simulate an attack on the self-ruled island, after multiple Chinese warships and aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait. Taiwan’s armed forces issued an alert, dispatched air and naval patrols around the island, and activated land-based missile systems in response to the Chinese exercises, Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said. The island's leadership also announced it detected four unmanned aerial vehicles flying in the vicinity of the offshore county of Kinmen on Friday night and fired warning flares in response.  CORRECTION*

Friends and family arrived for a graduation in May at the University of Denver. We forgot to warn them. Once a cosmopolitan utopia of clean, safe, family-friendly neighborhoods and parks, Denver now looks and feels like a drug orgy. The stench of marijuana wafts through neighborhoods where a small percentage of family dwellings have transitioned into pot farms. Walking through much of Denver and other Colorado cities, one becomes accustomed to stepping over and around growing numbers of full-time drug users living on sidewalks, parks, medians, and lawns. The broad-based degradation started when voters approved Amendment 64 in 2012,

The Republican National Committee will stop covering former President Donald Trump's legal bills if he announces a presidential bid for 2024 too soon, according to reports. The RNC has paid almost $2 million in legal fees for the former president as he faces different investigations into his financial dealings and conduct during the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, a committee official told ABC News. However, those payments will end soon after Trump announces a reelection bid because of the RNC’s policies on maintaining neutrality in elections — meaning if the former president announces a bid too soon, the RNC could stop contributing to his legal costs.

After all, the Democrats passed the “Inflation Reduction Act” that doesn’t actually reduce inflation, and Democrats have taken some leads on the generic ballot since the overturning of Roe v. Wade. My response has been different, though. The generic ballot has often understated Republican support in environments
