Tanks, but no ammo – Germany's Ukraine
pledges show military muddle

Four weeks ago, Germany agreed to send dozens of anti-aircraft tanks to help defend Ukraine from Russia's invasion, part of what it called a turning-point after decades of military restraint. Berlin says it can deliver the first Gepard tanks in July. That's too slow, a Ukrainian parliamentarian said on Tuesday, as Russian forces launched an assault on the country's east. "For us, July is like, 'what?'" Anastasia Radina, a member of the Ukrainian parliament, told Reuters at the World Economic Forum.

Comments:

Germany has some old tanks sitting in some lot they're willing to give away. Why not, stuff has no ammo to speak of. And this is NATO. The Budeswehr is in such straits because it sees no Russian threat and "Germany ... was meant to never again become a military power," says Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, head of their parliament's defence committee. This is why it's time to get real about NATO and snap down our expensive defense umbrella.

Any gun based weapons system is useless wihout ammo. The Germans are either total idiots, or are playing a mean trick on the Ukrainians.

Germany doesn't intend on sending any war material to Ukraine evidence this fiasco which they had to be shoved into, the fact is, that East Germany won the Doctrine battle in the 80's and haven't stopped changing Germany into a communist state

This is a manufactured "drip, drip, drip" war to create a bloody mess "somewhere else" where "somebody else" suffers for the longterm goals of evil internationalists. This is a sick world. National leaders in too many countries are really the cause of conflicts like this. Normal people want to lead normal lives everywhere. Political leaders seeking power are the bane of normalcy.

Instant $40B in cash to Ukraine from the US let's see how long it takes to run through that money. Salaries for government will take at least half. We shouldn't be sending anything except winter wool blankets with first aid kits and nothing else. The Germans are right.

Millions of Americans rely on the federal government to cover the cost of college. Education loans have existed for generations, but borrowing only really took off in the past two decades. Soaring college costs, higher enrollment, changes to the federal lending system, labor market demand for credentials and paltry wage growth have all contributed to the $1.6 trillion in outstanding federal student debt. This does not include debt originated in the private market.

The record-setting month comes as President Joe Biden looks to end Title 42, a Trump-era policy allowing Border Patrol to turn away migrants at the border due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “BREAKING: There were 234,088 migrants encountered at the Southern border in April, per a DHS court filing today. That’s the highest number in DHS history,”

Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President James Bullard said that high readings on inflation still concern central bank officials, reinforcing the need for higher interest rates. “Inflation is broader and more persistent than many have thought and the Fed will have to act in order to keep inflation under control and we’ve got a plan in place,” Bullard told Yahoo Finance in an exclusive interview on Wednesday. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday morning that prices in the United States rose by 8.3% between April of this year and April of last year.

Forty years ago we had a soaring inflation rate, obscene gas prices and interest rates in the teens. Today, thanks to their incredible incompetence, bad policies and serial stupidity, the Democrats in Washington are bringing back all those problems. It’s getting so bad, I’m actually beginning to think Jimmy Carter was not such a bad president after all. People under 40 have no idea how bad things were in the late 1970s under Carter. They’ve grown up knowing only 3 percent interest rates, dirt cheap gasoline and 2 percent inflation. They don’t know how miserable things were under Carter or how miserable they can get again under Biden.
The sinking of Russia's flagship might

It's tempting for Americans to get smug about the sinking of the Moskva, the Russian Navy's flagship in the Black Sea. Whether it was destroyed by Ukrainians or — less plausibly — sunk because of a non-combat onboard explosion of ammunition, the result is both a humiliation and a setback for Vladimir Putin's war efforts. If you're cheering Ukraine's defenders, it's hard not to take some satisfaction in that. But America's fleet might also be more vulnerable than you think.

Republicans have long had a toughness fetish. Going back to the early days of the Cold War, its flip side has been the insinuation that Democrats are weaklings ready to sell out the country to its enemies, with the GOP eager to serve proudly and unapologetically as America's lone defenders abroad. No one should be surprised that the script has already been updated to account for recent distressing events on the border separating Russia and Ukraine.

Donald J. Trump was the best POTUS in my very long lifetime. His policies were effective, making America prosperous, energy independent, and lowering minority unemployment to record low levels. Everything he did, with the possible exception of the COVID lockdown, was quintessentially Trump; competent, encouraging, and salutary for America and her people. We were blessed to have him in the White House. Although many Americans cringed, we nonetheless put up with Trump’s coarseness and his inflated ego because he gave America back to the people.
