State Farm agents across the country fielded angry phone calls on Monday from customers who were either threatening to cancel their policies or who flat-out canceled them after hearing news that the company had partnered with The GenderCool Project to donate books regarding transgenderism and gender fluidity to schools in order to “increase representation of LGBTQ+ books and support our communities in having challenging, empowering, and important conversations with children Age 5+.”
The story contained a January 22, 2022 memo from Jose Soto announcing the program.
By the close of business Monday, after the CEO reportedly heard from more than 2,000 independent State Farm agents nationwide

At least they got the message and responded correctly. The standard in the C suite and board rooms the last few years has been to blindly support this evil trans kid garbage and sjw wokeness in general. Now that several big name companies have been lost money, publicly called out and backed off maybe it'll stop.
My last company gave BLM $10MM but we got smaller than expected bonuses after a great year and huge stock rise. They're almost half of their peak now and haven't made a peep in the last year.

Soto, Terry and the entire Diversity Office should have been history before this story was even published. What a disgrace State farm has become. A huge TV advertising campaign should be put in place to grovel before State farm agents, employees and policy holders.

I handled claims for State Farm for over 30 years, and have been a policyholder for over 50 years. Those agent’s quotes apply to me, too.
In recent years SF, along with every other corporation in America, hired “diversity” weenies and was into “affirmative action” and all that went with it. Perhaps now, they’ll see the error of their ways. Years ago, there were two ways to get fired from Mother Mutual in a big hurry: steal their money, or make them look bad. Hopefully that policy is still in effect, and Mr. Soto is now looking for a job.

Frustrating to no end as my SF agent is a friend and has been very good to us in times of need. Hope they got the message. Hope other companies hear the message and pay attention.

This leads me to wonder..
How many SF captive agents will be looking to become independent brokers/agents and take their books of business with them?

Now that is real feedback. Remember when Harry's Razors dropped their advertisements from Daily Wire because ONE person complained in a TWEET about a Daily Wire podcast or column (can't remember which) that criticized the transgender movement? I applaud the State Farm rank and file agents for standing up to their woke corporate executives. And, it is heartening to see that the executives (unlike those at Disney) listened and changed course.

I am retired from "the largest defense contractor in the world" for a decade.
Our DoD contractor's Affirmative Action program were burden and costly enough but in the aughts we suddenly needed diversity and ethics departments as well - both fully staffed with female minorities. Of course, I and my white male management peers were innundated by unfounded accusations of perceived or just nefarious discrimination and ethics violations mostly made by females, minorities and mostly by employees singled out for discipline.
I never saw any of the accusations proven and resulted in wasted production time and cost to the taxpayer. Everything a federal government bureaucracy touches leads to wasted taxpayer money.

Reading the article it’s clear to me that State Farm has way too many “managers” between Soto and the chief diversity officer Terry. Pretty typical of big companies. I hope this results in some managerial cutbacks.

This was not a mistake.
A mistake would be to have bet on Fenwick in the Preakness, because you liked the odds.
A mistake would have been like my co-worker in the 1960s, who sold his Xerox stock to pay for carpeting his game room.
What State Farm did was attempted corporate suicide.

So why are you giving policy holders money away? State Farm is a mutual insurance company. Where do you get the authority to give money away? Policy holders can make charitable contributions on their own. They don't need a State Farm executive for that.

Sloppy. Every organization donated to should have been vetted. The excuse provided is lame. If the person in charge could not do a better job then get someone who knows what they are doing. That excuse really makes State Farm look really stupid. If they are this irresponsible with their own money what do you think they are doing with the money from those that pay policies? I hope in the future there are no policy increases. If they do not have a better handle on where their money goes then they better not be raising premiums until they get better money and spending control.

I'm a never had a claim ever guy. (so far anyway) State Farm insured my house in Jersey for 6 years, a few months ago raised the rates 30%. I changed and saved 40% in 10 minutes and cancelled the SF policy.
Great business model. They also called when they got the cancellation news to help bring the cost down.

What in God’s name were these idiots thinking about when they made this decision? It is committing commercial suicide. It seem corporations all over the United States are being run by morons that can’t figure out they should be selling a quality product and NOTHING ELSE! If you want to donate to a charitable cause pick one that improves our society or provides help to those who need it. Stay out of politics. It is caustic.

Independent State Farm agents nationwide.....otherwise, independent contractors.
Our agent in northern CA years ago told us, SF was changing their employee status of their agents and making them independent contractors. Which takes away their pensions and insurance, etc. That saves State Farm a heck of a lot of money...so they can give it away to these far Left groups? Looks like it. Our SF agent knew then he should look for another job. We changed insurance companies pronto too.

I'm sure our premiums always increase to help cover these management boondoggles too. I've been a State Farm customer for many years and despite all the credits I receive for having my property and car equipped with damage/theft protection measures my premiums always increase and it is very discouraging. I've never filed a claim and have high deductibles as well. Where is the SOCIAL JUSTICE for the responsible customer while we KNOW we are paying for irresponsible behavior ???
