Cherelle Griner believes that President Joe Biden is the “one person” who can bring back her wife, WNBA player Brittney Griner, from Russia, where she has been detained for 96 days after officials allegedly found drugs in her luggage at a Moscow airport. Cherelle also believes that things would be different if Brittney was an NBA player.
“There is one person that can go get her, and that’s our president,” Griner told ESPN’s Angela Rye in an interview airing Wednesday. “He has that power. You know, I’m just like, ‘Why are we not using it? Like, urgently, use it.’ We’re expecting him to use his power to get it done.”

If Biden could have done something, he would have. This is a case for diplomacy, but it is not helped by Biden calling for "regime change" in Russia.

Great. Another super fantastic mega deal from Diaper JOe. This time he swaps a convicted arms dealer felon to Russia (right when they are in desperate need of arms) for a lesbian drug addict basketball player in a league nobody watches. What a deal!

What kind of idiot goes to another country with illegal drugs and expects nothing to happen? Unless she was framed, I have no sympathy for her/it?

What was Brittany thinking bringing in a vape cartridge containing hash oil into Russia? Did she think the custom agent would see the vape cartridge and say, "this is cool!" And then he recognize Brittany right away and say, "Oh you're Brittany Griner. You play for the WNBA. You're cool! Go on. Have a cool time in Russia!" No it didn't work out so well for Brittany. What a fooolish stunt she pulled, and now she is suffering from her stupidity.

Self-indulgent actions have consequences in other countries that do not tolerate those who believe they are above the laws of another country and that their status and American passport give them immunity.

Maybe Brittney Griner will have more appreciation for the USA after spending some time locked up in Russia. If I recall, she was front and center protesting the national anthem at basketball games. She can rot in Putin's Russia for all I care.

As others have said, you have to be stupid and/or have a mistaken sense of entitlement to try to smuggle dope in a country like Russia. She should get a couple of years in a Russian prison and just be happy she isn't in Malaysia.

Women don't have wives; men don't have husbands. If the only hope for the WNBA star's freedom is the Bidiot, that's a weak reed to lean on. Bringing recreational drugs into a foreign country is about the most stupid thing a traveler can do. Enjoy your trip, genius.

This has bothered me for sometime. Almost all federal corruption cases are tried by the DC Circuit court. I have very often wondered how this could possibly be fair to all in the nation,
Well I just checked and it is even worse than I had believed. The DC Cuircuit court is the smalles, by far. The population of the court area is 689,000. That is the total population of the court region from which a jury would be selected. It is without a doubt also the most politicall, economically and probably racially and educationally homogenous population in the country.
Here is the perspective though, the next largest circuit court, the 1st circuit
which is most of New Englandhas a Jury pool population of 14,000,000. Over 20 times as large as the DC court. The third smalles circuit court is the 10th with 18 million.
How is it reasonable that 0.21% of the population of the US is the only source of Jurors for arguably the most nationaly significant court cases?

Re #21, and, unfortunately, it's not likely to change because the Deep State corruptocrats are VERY happy to be tried in a location where the jury pool is so warped and corrupted by government employment connections and massive government handouts that they are very unlikely to find any REAL justice there, and will most often walk free - unless they are Republicans.

My parents spent a year in Russia back in the 30’s and my mother told me a few things to remember if I wanted to visit:
Don’t take any valuables.
Don’t speak badly of anyone or anything.
Assume you are being watched 24/7.
Take toilet paper.

It Brittneny and her wifey is expecting Joe Biden to save her from the Russian prison, well, you're gonna find you're out of luck.
Even that rotten Trump fellow made a phone call to China to release those UCLA basketball players who thought shoplifting in China would be fun. And the Chinese said, sure, they can go home. I'm not sure Vlad would be as agreeable to a similar call from Sleepy Creepy Crooked President Uncle Joe. Or a word salad from Horizontal Harris.

Right now she's only in pre-trial detention. Her trial is not until next month. She could be facing a long prison sentence with no credit for 'time served'.
