Wow, how can Russia or China top that? I'm surprised they didn't rename Ft Hood after Major Hassan, the Muslim doctor who committed "workplace violence" in killing 13 and wounding 30 of his fellow soldiers. On a related note, I remember the after the shooting, a call went out in central Texas for blood donations to be collected at the VA hospital in Temple, adjacent to Killeen and Ft. Hood. A few hours later, on my way there on I-35 from the Austin area, there was a two-mile back-up of northbound traffic to the exit leading to the VA hospital and another back-up in the southbound lanes from Waco. To say that the locals and those from near-by cities responded to the call would be an understatement.

All the comments here are dead on. These pissants may be history ignoramuses, but their intentions are NOT honorable. It is sick and ironic that Puddin' Head Joe campaigned on being a "unifier" yada yada. Those bases were named in a generous effort to unify the country after the bloody Civil War. Now the wokesters are disassembling everything they can. I suppose I should be grateful for Lucianne's language filters. It forces me to use words with more than four letters.

I was first assigned to Fort Lee, then went to Fort Benning for parachutist training and went to Camp A.P. Hill to collect information for a court martial, then to Viet-Nam for a short time. Our son was at Fort Hood as driver for his Colonel when the crazy doctor started his killing. The Colonel was airlifted back to their unit by a helicopter, and my son had to find a gate where he could enter the post with the jeep. I think we must be living in “Interesting times”, as in the old Chinese curse.

If they are going to rename Ft. Hood, they should go for real Texas heroes: Audie Murphy or Roy Benevides. Of course, those real fighting men, but enlisted (though Murphy got a battlefield promotion to an officer).A rear echelon General like Milley would choose another general, even if his combat decorations were the lesser order. If they want to inspire confidence in the troops, why not choose the best? Of course a real man may too cis for the cissy general.

Instead of un-elected bureaucratic wonks deciding this Orwellian name change, how about "We the People" vote on it instead? We need to tap the brakes on this before we waste even more taxpayer money in changing names on places, buildings and letterheads. The Left has a very poor understanding of history. Part of the national healing post-bellum War Between the States was to honor the heroes, both North AND South. Yes, the Confederacy was a lost cause. But the men on both sides who fought and died in it were, for the most part, honorable men. Conversely, the Left takes a scorched-earth policy in culture wars. Once they get their victories, they have no qualms with executing the opposition's survivors long after the battle. They are particularly vicious with generational snobbery. In this case from over 150 years ago. The Left is ignorant of historical context and will judge the past through a contemporary lens.

Renaming AP Hill after Medal of Honor Recipient Mary Walker- a woman surgeon who never served in the military or under heroic circumstances. She did volunteer to serve in Union hospitals during the Civil War and in gratitude she was awarded the Medal of Honor as were thousands of other during this time for unheroic service- Buffalo Bill Cody as an example. Most of these medals , including Mary Walker’s were then later revoked by a commission which wanted to enhance the prestige of the Medal. Unliked the many other revoked medals Mary Walker’s was restored by good old Jimmy Carter soley on the basis of her sex . I am not against renaming installations named after mediocre generals like AP Hill but at least name them after bona fide heroes.

Is this all part of Mark Milley finally understanding "white rage?" By the way Alex Parker, they weren't "rebel leaders." They were Military Officers of the Confederate States of America, which had legally seceded from the Union, per the Constitution of the United States. They were fighting for that legal cause. "Rebel" is a pejorative term in this context. These Leftist Communists running the Pentagon must have unlimited budget to do STUPID things, like swapping the names of military bases around on a whim. I have never ever ever heard anyone complain about the names of Army bases. Most of the troops don't know who they were named after OR CARE! Everyone around the world knows the name Ft. Bragg, NC. It costs a ton of money to change names. Congress needs to STOP this insanity. Clearly they have too much money in their budget to engage in such frivolities.

The following interview is an excerpt from Michael Pack and Mark Paoletta's new book, Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in His Own Words, out from Regnery this month. It has been lightly edited for clarity. MP (Michael Pack): Would you say affirmative action is one of [those] instances where people are using racial discrimination to achieve a specific objective they think is best? CT (Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas): To be honest with you, I don't even know what "affirmative action" is. People come up with euphemisms, everybody is for something that affirmatively acts—to do what, I don't know. Most people don't know. Whatever it is, it's often defined as equal opportunity

Yet another single step of incompetence for Joe Biden and his administration, but it’s a giant leap for “incredible transitions.” The official data from the EIA will come out later this afternoon, but the Washington Post uses AAA data to declare that the inevitable has arrived. Disregard the collapsing supply chain highlighted by empty shelves in the grocery store. Dismiss the dizzying descent of the Dow Jones Industrial Average. According to the White House and the legacy media, none of these things matter. The real problem bedeviling the economy is bad vibes.
Why America Doesn't Trust the CDC 10 replies

People don't trust the CDC. Here's one example illustrating why. Two weeks ago, with no outcomes data on COVID-19 booster shots for 5-to-11-year-olds, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) vigorously recommended the booster for all 24 million American children in that age group. The CDC cited a small Pfizer study of 140 children that showed boosters elevated their antibody levels—an outcome known to be transitory. When that study concluded, a Pfizer spokesperson said it did not determine the efficacy of the booster in the 5-to-11-year-olds. But that didn't matter to the CDC. Seemingly hoping for a different answer, the agency put the matter before its own kangaroo court

If there is any maxim religiously observed by the corporate news media, it is this: “If it bleeds, it leads.” Moreover, if the blood in question gushes from gunshot wounds inflicted by a deranged mass murderer, the major news outlets uniformly portray the crime as evidence of an ever-increasing wave of violence caused not by criminals but by their weapons. This narrative is a textbook example of misinformation whereby news organizations studiously ignore data and definitions on mass shootings developed by Congress, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other law enforcement sources.

The trial of Michael Sussmann is before a jury in Washington, D.C. Sussmann is the Democratic lawyer who, according to special counsel John Durham, lied to the FBI in 2016 when, working on behalf of the Hillary Clinton campaign, he tried to plant a derogatory story about Donald Trump. The hope was that the FBI would start an investigation and then the campaign conversation would be: TRUMP IS UNDER FBI INVESTIGATION!There is no doubt Sussmann lied to the FBI. There is no doubt he is guilty. But the trial is taking place in Washington, perhaps the deepest-blue jury pool in the United States.

A casual reader perusing the headlines about last Tuesday’s Georgia primaries could easily get the impression that former President Trump was running for office in the Peach State. Many corporate media outlets featured his name before identifying the actual candidates. Wednesday morning, for example, Politico ran a story titled, “Trump flops in Georgia: 5 takeaways from a big primary night.” This and many similar articles missed the two most important news stories: Georgia Republicans refuse to sabotage themselves by engaging in counterproductive infighting, and record turnout thoroughly debunked the Democratic “voter suppression” narrative.

A decade ago, when an Obama-era initiative called “Common Core” convinced 41 states to give up control of their education standards, it was infamously the result of a massive influence campaign by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Now, with America’s K-12 landscape being turned upside down by “equity” initiatives that divide children by ethnicity and devalue rigorous academics, the culprit is much the same: Gates and other philanthropic foundations. That’s a takeaway from the two years I spent poring through educational and financial records for my new book, “Race to the Bottom: Uncovering the Secret Forces Destroying American Public Education.”

The court also clarified state law to say police have seized a person if an objective observer would conclude that the person was not free to leave or refuse a request. But, the court wrote, that “objective observer” must be aware that discrimination and biases “have resulted in disproportionate police contacts, investigative seizures, and uses of force against Black, Indigenous, and other people of color.”
