Newt Gingrich says House GOP creating
new contract with America for 2022

Original Article

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said that Republicans in Congress are "preparing to make history" by instituting new policies if the GOP retakes control of the House during midterms this fall. President Joe Biden's approval rating has been underwater since August and currently stands at 42% per FiveThirtyEight. His unpopularity combined with inflation, security problems and other concerns are likely to help Republicans win House seats this fall.

Comments:

Like 1994, the Republicans have a credibility problem with voters. They are the party of overpromise and underdeliver, constantly collapsing under Dem media pressure. They were the party of fiscal responsibility until TRILLIONS were recklessly appropriated for COVIDS stimulus, etc. House Republicans make noises about this and that, and never follow through to amplify and reform. The best one can hope for is that this Commitment to America will be honestly kept without negotiation. Let Biden veto away...and Republicans, keep your word until these reforms become law.

Agree with OP, but I fear his "best one can hope for " requires a miraculous transformation of the Republican Party into one that actually supports the people who vote for them, and for that to happen IMO requires wholesale replacement of the so-called "leadership " at the top.

Present and past R leadership talked too much and did too little. Need hard ball commitments from the old and new Rs. 1.Secure the Border now and forever - just do it. 2. Revise Section 230 "Free to Speak Act" or equal. 3. School choice Act. 4. Put teeth back into immigration law - and mean it for goodness sake. 5. Balance the damned budget. 6. Support Police more yet boot the bad cops.

American Patriots already have a contract newty. It's called The Constitution. Lawfully elected representatives of We the People who do not keep their end of the contract need to be watering the Tree of Liberty. That tree is MIGHTY thirsty and it's time for American Patriots to administer a good soaking watering. Nothing is going to change until they do. American Patriots are not being taken seriously due to the hard fact that they are unwilling to hold public servants accountable for their flagrant violation of said contract. NEXT!

The first Contract with America accomplished what? Though they talked about it all day. How did it thwart the Clinton Administration? What did the Tea Party do to stop Obama? Gave us Adam Kitzinger. We are long past the need for normie trash.

In defense of Republicans- excluding RINOs: so much of the decay has occurred in extra-political areas- education, culture, media etc. There is a tidal wave that has been untethered from reality thanks to the great wealth of the US.

So which contract takes precedence? The contract between the "Government" and the "People" with the "Governement" being all governmental parties and elected officials which is summarized nicely by the US Constitution and each State Constituiton? OR this new contract, which is being drafted and implemented without vote or consent? NO, the problem is each party believes that they should have the absolute say in how the Government operates. Pandering (which this is) to voters is simply the onerous requirement needed to get your fellow grifter elected. Everyone knows the idea that we have a representational government is a total fraud. Worshiping the Republican Party or Democrat Party is what has brought us to this point. So I do not believe any politician of either party is of sound mind or moral character to draw up a contract much less be a party to any contract.

There will never be any change until the size of government is reduced by half or more. All the power is in DC because that is where there are trillions of dollars to be printed and put out. This is unlimited power that is destroying the country.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is planning trips to Iowa and New Hampshire. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., is considering a rough timeline for a potential presidential announcement. And allies of Rep. More than two years before the next presidential election, a shadow primary is already beginning to take shape among at least three fierce Republican critics of former President Donald Trump to determine who is best positioned to occupy the anti-Trump lane in 2024.

Republicans have long had a toughness fetish. Going back to the early days of the Cold War, its flip side has been the insinuation that Democrats are weaklings ready to sell out the country to its enemies, with the GOP eager to serve proudly and unapologetically as America's lone defenders abroad. No one should be surprised that the script has already been updated to account for recent distressing events on the border separating Russia and Ukraine.

This is a response to an opinion piece by Janan Najeeb that mistakenly characterized the Latinx struggle for fair maps and equal representation in Milwaukee as a threat to Muslim voting rights or representation ("Milwaukee's Muslims simply want to be fairly represented by the Common Council," Jan. 30). The struggle for the freedom of communities of color to have a fair and equal voice in our city can never be won if we allow ourselves to be manipulated by politicians who use the tactic of divide and conquer to pit one oppressed group against another.

Two small trucks, one of them branded with the logo for Sabritas, a potato chip company, were used to block the highway leading to the cockfighting arena. Video filmed by witnesses nearby captured the sound of machine gun fire, which could be heard several miles away.
