Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul on Thursday urged the Supreme Court to use a lie detector to uncover who leaked an explosive draft opinion that suggests the judicial body could overturn federal abortion protections. GOP lawmakers have for weeks demanded consequences for whoever was responsible for leaking the draft to Politico earlier this month. Chief Justice John Roberts confirmed the draft's authenticity on May 3 and vowed to open an investigation into who committed the 'betrayal of the confidences of the court.'
Republican candidates in upcoming primaries may have a tougher time scoring a coveted endorsement from Donald Trump, according to the former President's allies, who say he is feeling more risk-averse amid the deadlocked Senate GOP contest in Pennsylvania.
One of those allies described Trump as "agitated" by the uncertain outcome in the Keystone State primary, where his endorsement of celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz failed to translate into a decisive win against former hedge fund manager David McCormick. After the once-a-decade census is complete the Census Bureau conducts a follow-up to gauge the accuracy of the count. The follow-up of the 2020 census was delayed a bit because of the pandemic but the results are now out and they show that in 36 states the tally was pretty accurate. However in 14 other states the numbers were off. Six states had an undercount and eight states had an overcount.
That there were a roughly equal number of states with overcounts as undercounts seems reasonable but the geographical and political breakdown of where those happened is interesting:

Washington — After a weeklong delay, the Senate on Thursday voted to pass a $40 billion military, economic and humanitarian aid package for Ukraine as its bloody war with Russia neared the three-month mark.
The vote was 86-11, with Republicans casting all of the no votes. The Senate also voted to confirm Bridget Brink as U.S. ambassador to Ukraine on Wednesday night, shortly after the State Department announced it was reopening its embassy in Kyiv.

The Oklahoma legislature approved a law on Thursday that would ban almost all abortions from the moment of fertilization, sending the bill to Republican governor Kevin Stitt to sign.
The law, which constitutes the most sweeping pro-life legislation passed by any state, allows anyone to sue a doctor or other person who “aids or abets” an abortion from the moment of fertilization for up to $10,000. While modeled on Texas’s ban on abortions upon detection of a fetal heartbeat, the Oklahoma law would ban almost all abortions, with exceptions for cases of rape or incest.

An intense road rage dispute between two motorists in Florida landed one of them behind bars Tuesday after he pulled out a knife, prompting the victim to display a gun, authorities said.
