Louisiana State University (LSU) professor Gerald Myers has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested in connection with multiple charges, which include child pornography, sexual abuse of an animal, and possession of marijuana.
Arrest records show that the Louisiana State University Police Department (LSUPD) was contacted by the school’s Agricultural Center saying that its IT department found files on an LSU computer — issued to professor Gerald Myers — that they believed might contain child pornography, reports WAFB.
Police allegedly found more than 50 files that appeared pornographic. The university’s IT department said its search indicated an external hard drive was connected to the computer,
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd praised a Lakeland, Florida, man for shooting an alleged intruder Wednesday saying, “He shot him a lot.”
Steven Stillwell, 42, allegedly threw a flower pot through glass doors in hopes of gaining entry into the house, WFLA reported.
The Lakeland resident then shot Stillwell “three times.”
Stillwell was still alive when deputies arrived and is now hospitalized in stable condition.
Sheriff Judd responded to the incident by saying, “I’m proud of our homeowner for defending himself. It’s called a ‘Castle Doctrine.’ He has the right to protect himself and his home from unknown intruders,” WESH noted.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention supports allowing students exposed to coronavirus to remain in school without quarantining as long as they are regularly tested for the virus, CDC head Dr. Rochelle Walensky told reporters on Friday.
“Test-to-stay is an encouraging public health practice to help keep our children in school,” Walensky said.
The CDC released two studies of school districts that employed the “test-to-stay” strategy, arguing that regular testing can reduce the need for students exposed to coronavirus to quarantine.
Pfizer and BioNTech announced on Friday that the companies will modify a clinical trial for their coronavirus vaccine in young children, after a two-dose regimen did not produce a sufficient immune response in children ages 2, 3, and 4.
The companies said that “no safety concerns were identified” in the trial, and that participants age 2-4 will be given a third vaccine dose two months after their second dose. Participants ages six months to 24 months saw a sufficient immune response from the vaccine.
Participants were given 3 micrograms of vaccine, or one-tenth of the dose given to adults over age 18. Pfizer spokeswoman Jerica Pitts said the companies do not plan

A 17-year-old Chicago-area drug dealer stabbed a 15-year-old to death over some weed. Apparently, the victim, Elias Valdez, tried to steal pot from the dealer. Ever-determined to play the apocryphal role of Salieri to Donald Trump's Mozart, Liz Cheney is making a name for herself on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Jan. 6 investigative committee.
One problem: The committee is proving itself amazingly dishonest in its ambitions to Get Trump and it's now becoming a pattern. (snip) She literally made up a claim against actual evidence that Trump didn't try to call the crowd off, and called it the story as the press fawned at her. This is amazing dishonesty brought on by bitter jealousy and ambitions of replacing Trump, as Tucker Carlson has noted.

Our country is so irredeemably racist that people of all races keep sneaking into the United States at breakneck speeds. A particular line from our Thursday editorial reminded us of something we’ve been seeing for some time now: claims by the media that Republicans in general and Donald Trump in specific are authoritarians. It’s a truly malignant form of psychological projection. The comment referenced in our observation that dissent is no longer the highest form of patriotism that struck us is from Northeastern University journalism professor and public radio panelist Dan Kennedy. He said, with zero supporting evidence, that the Republican Party “has embraced authoritarianism and voter suppression.” CORRECTION*
