Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd praised a Lakeland, Florida, man for shooting an alleged intruder Wednesday saying, “He shot him a lot.”
Steven Stillwell, 42, allegedly threw a flower pot through glass doors in hopes of gaining entry into the house, WFLA reported.
The Lakeland resident then shot Stillwell “three times.”
Stillwell was still alive when deputies arrived and is now hospitalized in stable condition.
Sheriff Judd responded to the incident by saying, “I’m proud of our homeowner for defending himself. It’s called a ‘Castle Doctrine.’ He has the right to protect himself and his home from unknown intruders,” WESH noted.

Home owner is not a very good shot. Needs more practice at the firing range.

The twitter-verse and other libs-of-tic-tok and internet crazies will begin their canceling of Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd in 3...2...1 . Let's keep an eye on this story to see whether the sheriff gets fired sometime down the line.

I also liked: "Why did your deputies shoot him 69 times?" "They ran out of ammo."

It is unfortunate how the left has steered our society down the path such that we mourn that the intruder was not killed outright. At least that is how many who have never known real violence in their lives view things.
As a practical matter however leaving the perp alive is a dangerous thing. He survived his wounds, will do some time in jail, and then be released. At that time the homeowner (or his family) is now in danger. Since jail no longer rehabilitates their inmates, expect the perp to spend his time in incarceration plotting exactly how he will exact revenge. And unfortunately when seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

This is Florida, #4, things are done differently here. Sheriff Grady is only one of many Sheriffs in Florida who would say the same thing and Gov. DeSantis will back them up 100%! I guess that's why I believe Florida has the most Conceal and Carry in the country. We have a Shooters World in The Villages, a 50 and Over Golf Community. We don't have many Break-in's here. I guess it's because the Bad Guys think think the Odds are against them that the People in the house they choose will know how to handle a gun and are not afraid to use it!

When a fool throws a flower pot through your plate glass door I believe that is a bit more than “Alledged intruder”. If everyone walked around with a tied down hog leg colt, it would be a much safer world out there.

Good on him, but methinks he needs some more target practice if he shot him 3 times and he's still alive...

I noticed the article did not mention race or ethnicity of the perp. Best guess, illegal alien just arriving in Jacksonville.

Sheriff Grady Judd of Polk County is very widely admired by Central Florida natives. He's a good cop. And an honest man.

3 times is not a lot. He should have emptied the gun.
His mistake will probably lead to his being sued by some shyster lawyer representing this criminal.

Next time a better caliber choice, more effective ammunition and better shot placement would result in a permanent solution rather than a 'temporary setback' for this thug.

Here's a 911 call during a home invasion. You can hear the criminal breaking a window and hammering on the door before forcing his way in. The operator keeps saying, "We've got officers on their way," over and over while the criminal gets closer and closer to the homeowner, who is hiding in a closet. Then at 3:58 the home invader reaches the homeowner's hiding place. There are nine gunshots, followed by an "Oh, my God!" Then you hear agonal breathing ("Ahhhhhhh. Ahhhhhhh. Ahhhhhhh.") as someone dies, shot full of holes. The operator knows someone is dying. Finally, the homeowner comes back on the phone, and the operator keeps saying, "The police are coming as fast as they can." It took the police more than ten minutes to get there. A former neighbor who is a Florida Highway Patrolman once went to pains convincing me that I--not law enforcement--is responsible for my safety. This homeowner survived. His attacker, full of 9mm pills, didn't.

Yes, I is responsible for my own safety. (Is you is, or is you ain't my baby?) Pretty poor editing. The sign on my piano teacher's wall read: "The hurrier I go, the behinder I get."
