Progressives are by their very nature contemptuous of the natural order of things. Everything can be improved by their superior intellects. By virtue of the purity of their motives and the advanced understanding we have these days, they can impose policies that violate human nature, and, they think, prevail. (snip) Trying to change human nature – or any other aspect of the natural order (see, for example Lysenkoism) – inevitably produces outcomes that are at best hilarious, and at worst, catastrophic. (snip) The woman who made the video below, which is less than one minute long, has convinced herself that her dog has been persuaded to become a vegetarian

A dog behaving like a dog. The horror. Reminds me of Joy Adamson who wrote the nice lion books and was then eaten by a lion.

This story is reminiscent of some local vegans who tried to turn their cats vegan, feeding them spinach, grass and other plant materials. Somehow the word got out that these freaks were starving their carnivorous cats to death, and the cats were removed from the vegan owners. Good!
A recent Far Side cartoon in a 365 day calendar showed three cows in a field, consuming what was growing in the soil. One cow, spitting out a mouthful of the green shoots, exclaims, "Hey, wait a minute. This is grass. We've been eating grass!"

I'm surprised she didn't force the poor dog to wear a mask. (To protect the other dogs, of course).

Dogs usually take on the character of their owners. This dog is simply acting contrary just like his stupid owner. He came out ready to make a fool of her. And, can't you just hear him wailing and asking the dog gods (my dog only talks to Jesus), "Why me?" Poor doggie. Some dogs are smarter than a lot of human beings.

I suspect that the way she 'trained' her dog to be a vegetarian was to not provide any other food. If it's salad or starve I'd eat the salad.

The Lady Chihuahua used to buy a bag of carrot slivers for the dog, and used them as treats. The dog would eat them. Then politely eat them to humor us. Then eventually said no. The dog made it quite clear it preferred extra dog food pellets to carrot slivers. We eventually stopped buying carrot slivers except for cooking.
Btw, cats and dogs are omnivores, but if they only get vegetables, you are starving them. They need meat.
The dog is currently begging for his pills. They get wrapped in turkey. Only dog I have ever seen beg for pills.
As for the article, consider all the ways we try to change nature (and human nature). How many of the problems being faced by our country are due to our policies regarding climate change? How many of our problems are due to policies regarding social justice? How often when we fight nature we end up fighting reality itself. All too often its a losing battle, but people persist in playing god in some way.

If I identify as a T-Rex, my belief doesn't make me one. Her dog identifies itself as a dog. The lady (used sarcastically) is abusing her dog. Dogs are canines. Canines eat meat. She exhibits the DC elite mentality that you can identify yourself into utopia. Bottom line, she is killing her canine. Where is PETA? Complicit.

Lifson makes a point that we must reiterate every time we discuss liberal progressive plans and policies. You can't change human nature. We Christians say that humans are sinners and cannot reform themselves by their own willpower. Leftists believe they can change humans or, following Rousseau, believe that man is essentially good and forced to do evil by societal or economic influences. So, they do things like take from some - resulting in anger and resentment, and giving to others - producing sloth and entitlement. They then wonder why their programs haven't worked, decide they haven't been adequately applied and try again. Insane, isn't it?

Video is fake.
If she wanted to show what she claims in the video and it didn't work out then she wouldn't have posted the video at all.
This is amusing but kinda dumb, too.

The author uses the tidbit of fact that I always point out if the topic turns to vegatarianism. I say "Humans are omnivores, intended to eat meat and vegetables. Check the teeth." It's conclusive, we have teeth for tearing and slicing meat in the front, grinders in back.
I hope the dog survives her stewardship.

It could be real, do not some social media platforms send the videos out in real time?
If you want the dog to eat salads mix it with the meat but even then our dog would usually eat around the vegs and only eat the meat.

#7, it’s in the eyes too. Predator animals (meat eaters) have eyes located on the front of their heads to assist in hunting. Prey animals (vegetarians) have eyes located on the sides of their heads so that they can keep a lookout for the predators while grazing. Horses have more than 300 degree peripheral vision for just that purpose.
I once pointed this out to a far left radical vegan who drove a Prius with a GreenPeace sticker on the rear bumper. She couldn’t argue the biology of it so she said that her own eyes were gradually moving to the sides of her head. Leftist stupidity and insanity on display.

What's just as funny, is that these people think they are so superior to people who don't share their views. Years ago, before the liberals closed down the facilities for those with mental illness, this type of behavior and thinking would warrant a straight jacket, meds, and a stay in a padded cell.

Mother Nature gave dogs the hunger for meat.
Try to change that & your dog may revert back to the wolf & look at you in the old way😁

We had a dog that HATED peas. You could hide a pea in her food and when she was done eating we would find the pea licked clean, but left in the bottom of her bowl. She was a great dog to have around for my younger siblings, and highly intelligent. Too bad she could not live to be 80 or 90.

You cannot change human nature. You can change human behavior. A good current example is the voluntary masking of much of America, especially those who mask up while alone, perhaps driving their car. I've seen fools on motorcycles with no helmet but a mask. All it takes is enough incentive and training. For those turned on by virtue signaling, it's even easier. We get what is praised. We avoid what is punished. The exceptions prove the rule.

Excellent point, #19. Not too tricky to sneak up on, corner and outsmart a blade of grass or a shrub branch, no need for binocular vision or speed.
Prey animals, actual vegetarians, work up all sorts of strategies to avoid being eaten by carnivores, like various cat and dog species. . We noticed that zebras and wildebeest in Africa often choose to mix together and graze as a mixed herd. We asked a guide in Kruger Park about it and she said that one species has superior sense of smell, and the other has superior vision, and between the two, their chances of being attacked are reduced when mixed. I forget which is which, unfortunately.

I have an opposite story. I’ve always purchased high quality dog food. A friend asked me what made these so much better than cheaper brands. I said cheaper brands are made with a lot of grain. This friend was over one day and here comes one of the dogs out of the cornfield with an ear of corn. The friend was laughing and I was yelling TRAITOR to the dog. Yes it’s all very ironic right? The reason for my screen name has nothing to do with that incident. It comes from moving to the country and having corn fields for the dogs to roam in.

Canines are carnivores ... period. Domestic dogs might impress their owners by eating something that doesn't seem natural to them, but that's all they're doing - impressing their owners. I had a dog who'd eat pickle and orange slices, grapes - all sorts of non carnivore food. But all she was doing was impressing me. There was no playing around when the choice was between a saltine cracker and a stick of beef jerky.
How can you tell? Look at their teeth. They look like serrated steak knives.
