Cori Bush has demanded Missouri Governor Mike Parson grant a last-minute clemency to a death row inmate who killed three people in a 1994 convenience store robbery, saying that executions perpetuates the cycle of slavery and lynching. On Friday, Bush and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II petitioned for Parson (R) to halt the execution of 61-year-old Ernest Lee Johnson. Johnson, who is scheduled to be executed at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the state prison in Bonne Terre, was sentenced to death for killing three people while robbing a Columbia, Missouri convenience store in 1994.

I wonder how she would feel if one of the victims was a relative of hers…

The only problem I see here is that it took 27 years to let the air out of this demon.

Reparations are one thing but I don't think that including the murder Scott free is really a good idea.
Just saying.

This has nothing to do with slavery. The sentence is punishment for the ending of three lives. For or against capital punishment, we don't need these stupid distortions.

Letting convenience store murderers out of prison perpetrates the cycle of convenience store murders.

What year does this idiot think it is? Slavery and lynching ended a long time ago. I don't know about this so called cycle, but it will certainly end the ability of this dirt bag from killing anyone again.

It's ironic. Abolished presumably because they seemed barbaric to some, firing squads are actually more humane -- they produce instantaneous and effectively painfree death.
And you'd get lots of volunteers for the job!

"executions perpetuates the cycle of slavery and lynching"
Cori, you might consider using better discretion about the matters on which you must share your analysis. Because your remarks keep perpetuating the perception that blacks aren't very bright. A perception fed by the likes of LeBron James, Maxine Watters, Stacey Adams, and Al Sharpton.
Thank goodness for Condi Rice, Clarence Thomas, Dr. Ben Carson, and Thomas Sowell, who represent shining counterexamples to that stereotype.

Yea, give him clemency and dump him in the heart of Afghanistan slum city only in his loincloth. ...on second thought, just execute him so there will be no further issues nor discussions re: this piece of rubbish.

Choosing to murder three people illustrates his lack of mental capacity to make good choices. That does not excuse him from responsibility for his choice.

Tough you know what, Cori. The governor has told you to pound sand. One less thug for the taxpayers of Missouri to support. And it’s about time.

Cori Bush has obvious intellectual disabilities but as far as we know hasn’t murdered anyone. That’s why she isn’t on death row herself.

Cory Bush has a worse intellectual disability. Imagine Cory had your brother or sister been a victim of this idiots violence. Would you be so quick to pardon? Let the Lord deal with the matter. It's out of your hands.

I guess I am confused about her levels of who has institutional power and who doesn’t. Was that institutional power she used on her unborn (and black) child? She’s right, it’s all about who has got the power. Where’s the justice in that person’s death?
