MSNBC Warns SCOTUS Not To Overturn Roe,
Claims '80%' Support Abortion

Original Article

On his Monday show on MSNBC, Jose Diaz-Balart welcomed on network contributor and University of Texas Prof. Victoria DeFrancesco Soto to discuss the Supreme Court's upcoming term. DeFrancesco warned the Court that "80%" of Americans support abortion, so if they want to avoid a public trust crisis, they better not overturn Roe v. Wade. Not only is playing to public opinion not the Court's job, the 80% figure is wildly misleading. Diaz-Balart asked about "the significance of this moment. We're talking about the two states now that have just instituted these much more restrictive abortion guidelines. What is the impact of this?"

Public opinion? There was a 'women's reproductive march' in Houston on Saturday. There were an estimated 10,000 people who marched from Discovery Green to city hall. 10,000 is a normal number for any Saturday at that very popular 12 acre park. The park can handle 60,000 revelers (such as with the Super Bowl). The Texas law is a flashy, effective sideshow to the real event, the Roe v. Wade case at the Supreme Court. This court session is considered an existential threat to Roe V Wade. If the country was seriously invested in this pro abortion side of this court case the organizers would have had 150,000 to 200,000 people at that Houston march and maybe a million nationwide. But it was just another Saturday morning.

Depends on what the meaning of "Roe v. Wade" means. There is little support for the idea that a "right to abortion" extends throughout a pregnancy and even, as some now assert, after birth.

Wow. Isn’t MSNBC TOUGH! They don’t speak for all women. Why doesn’t a reporter, an honest one, interview a person who survived an abortion. I want to hear what that person thinks of abortion. I want to hear a person who knows first hand how an abortion can change a persons life. Because it does. And it can’t be reversed It’s permanent.

SCOTUS has already lost all public trust with their failure to even listen to any 2020 Election lawsuits. The honesty and integrity of elections is far more important than undoing the Roe v. Wade mess that SCOTUS stupidly made in 1973

It SCOTUS repealed Roe, the abortion issue would be returned to the states' jurisdiction, as it was before Roe was twisted into being by a misbegotten court. So if 80% of Americans support abortion, the states simply have to enact state laws authorizing it. Clearly, abortion was never a federal issue in the first place. What is the Left's problem?

in our country, the ratio could be 100% in favor of killing an unborn child, ie: aborting a child, but the duty of the Supreme Court is to decide on the constitutionality of the matter, not the favorability or favorability of the matter. let's hope they remember that when the matter is placed on their docket.

IMHO, abortion is not an issue for the federal bureaucracy. As per the 10th Amendment, it is an issue for each state. (But it is easier to push any issue at the federal level rather than have a battle in each state.)

FTA: "So if we see the Court in this session come down and potentially overturn Roe v. Wade, I think that is going to be perceived as tremendous overreach by the Supreme Court, which is not an elected body, but is still politically indirectly one." The "tremendous overreach" by the Court occurred when Roe v Wade and Casey cases were decided. The words "privacy" and "abortion" are nowhere to be found in the Constitution but were invented rights determined by unelected Supreme Court justices. Abortion should be subject to the LEGISLATIVE process in each of the 50 states. If a states legislature passes an abortion bill and the governor signs it, that bill becomes binding law in that state together with whatever restrictions the law stipulates. If the claim that ""80%" of Americans support abortion" there should be no problem, right?

I remember Roe vs Wade. At first, it was 3 months, then it was a baby and no abortion. Then, the left interpreted this to the point that abortions occurred after the baby was born. I had a baby clinic that thought they wanted to be a public company, and I helped with that. While working there, they showed me the photos of baby development over the 9 month period. At 3 months, there is a baby. It may be your body to some point, but after that, there is somebody else's body in there.

I keep coming back to the fact that there’s no apparent strategic logic behind the GOP blocking a debt-ceiling hike. They’re not holding out in hopes that Democrats will make some concession in exchange for their votes. Republicans aren’t demanding anything, McConnell has said repeatedly. They’re not pretending that it’d be no big deal if the U.S. defaulted on its debt either. It’d be cataclysmic, McConnell acknowledges. The debt ceiling simply must be raised, he says. They’re not refusing to raise the ceiling because doing so would block Democrats from passing their reconciliation mega-bill. The debt ceiling applies to spending that’s already been incurred,

Forty-seven percent of the registered voters said they would rather see the Republican Party win control of the House, while only 44 percent of the registered voters said they would want the Democrats. There were also nine percent who did not give an opinion. However, in September, the results were almost the opposite; 43 percent of registered voters said the Republican Party, while 47 percent said the Democrat party. There were also 11 percent who did not give an opinion.

Anyone who still doubts that “moderate” Merrick Garland’s Justice Department is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the far left should check out the news that Garland has threatened to investigate and prosecute parents who vigorously protest against school boards and teachers intent on indoctrinating school children in the racist, anti-American teachings of Critical Race Theory. Garland did so through this memorandum. Garland claims that free-speech principles must yield when they represent “efforts to intimidate individuals based on their views.” Andy McCarthy notes an implicit exception if the individuals happen to be Sen. A noteworthy leftover from yesterday. To give you a sense of how eager Democrats are to expand access to abortion, a few months ago House Dems voted unanimously in favor of a Medicaid bill that would cover the cost of the procedure for the first time in 45 years. The party has been radicalized on this issue and they’re willing to use some of their power to prove it. Unfortunately for them, the potential 50th vote in the Senate for the reconciliation deal on which Biden’s entire domestic agenda depends happens to be pro-life Joe Manchin.
