In the state’s first special election since the 2020 cycle, Town Councilor Bill Boyd beat out former state Rep. Bernie Madoff has died in prison at the age of 82. The disgraced financier died on Wednesday morning from natural causes according to sources cited by The Associated Press. Madoff is the most prolific Ponzi scheme scammer in American history, targeting 37,000 people in 136 countries over several decades. Last June, he asked for compassionate release claiming he was dying from kidney disease. He was denied by a judge who said he'd committed 'one of the most egregious financial crimes' in US history. He robbed victims of $64.8 billion, taking one's money to pay off the other and fake investments, for years before finally being arrested

One of the most swampy Republican senators is in hot water after voting to charge Donald Trump in his second impeachment trial, which ended in his acquittal. Alaska GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski has not committed to running for a fourth full term. When asked on Tuesday evening when she will announce her decision, Murkowski deflected and said she will make her final decision “when I make it.”“I have been doing everything that a good incumbent does in terms of preserving my options, visiting with Alaskans, spending a lot of time, as much time on the ground as I can, and raising money,” Murkowski said.

The FDA and the CDC have halted use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, a conventional one-shot anti-COVID-19 preventative, because a handful of people have had nasty side effects. Are they following the science, or something else? No one likes secondary effects of vaccines. It’s a big reason why nearly a third of all people refuse to take any vaccine. But in the case of the J&J vaccine, one possible secondary effect can be quite scary: A small number of people develop a rare form of blood clots. So how many? Six. That’s out of more than 6.8 million people

House Democrats are barely holding onto their majority, with Rep.-elect Julia Letlow, R-La., set to be sworn in Wednesday morning. Letlow will be joining the House in the seat originally won by her husband, Luke Letlow, who died in September from COVID-19 before he was supposed to be sworn in. Julia Letlow won a special election in March. This gives Republicans 212 seats in the House, catching up to Democrats' 218. Since tie votes fail in the House, that means Democrats cannot lose more than two votes from their party to pass legislation if the GOP fully opposes them.

'd like to take a rational look at the confrontations among cops, motorists, and pedestrians. When we see incidents of cops shooting blacks (which are the only shootings the media cover), one thing becomes clear: resisting arrest often ends up with a loss of life. Something else is obvious: when a cop is the one losing his life, it's practically overlooked by the media. When a police officer, whether during a traffic stop or a street stop, is making an arrest, the person being arrested has no right to resist.

The sound and fury with which the Democrats, the legacy media, and virtue-signaling CEOs greeted Georgia’s new election integrity statute has inevitably included portentous accusations of voter suppression. Peach State Republicans, we are told, are part of a multi-state GOP conspiracy to disfranchise minority voters by restricting ballot access. The plot involves such horrors as requiring everyone to provide identification when they vote and compelling them to cast ballots in their own precincts. Combined with such outrages as fixed time frames for returning mail-in votes, coherent rules for securing ballot drop boxes, and removal of dead people from voter rolls, these laws allegedly portend the return of Jim Crow.
