The BBC's diversity chief has claimed Idris Elba's TV detective Luther 'isn't black enough to be real' because 'he doesn't have any black friends and doesn't eat any Caribbean food'. Miranda Wayland said the hit crime drama, which won plaudits for having a strong, black lead character, was only superficially diverse and that corporation bosses are now looking to portray minority groups in a more convincing and rounded way.(Snip)
However, Ms Wayland told the MIPTV conference this week that to achieve true representation, TV chiefs must ensure black characters have an environment and culture built around them that is completely reflective of their background.

Pretty soon the government will require race passports to determine whether you have the acceptable amount of woke DNA and then accorded benefits accordingly. Let’s see, who else did that to prove you were Aryan enough...

So... did the Greatest Generation fight WWII against the Totalitarians for nothing?
Between this and the video article about the British cops breaking down a guy's door, invading his house to arrest him for a 'Covid Quarantine' so-called Violation.... makes me wonder.....
What is the difference between the National Socialists of 1940 and the 'Woke' Socialists in Britain today?
Apparently..... not much!

Now they are starting to eat their own. Not black enough. What will all those commercials on TV do with the interracial marriages. Apparently, the one african american who is married to the white partner is not black enough. This is not going to end well; this is all about to end up in some ditch.

Dear Lord, how stupid. If you all could hear me talk, you'd know immediately that I am a southerner. But I do not like some of the southern foods like collard greens, watermelon and sweet tea. So I guess that makes me a yankee according to this diversity chief.

To the BBC Carribean food is the equivalent to fried chicken and watermelon.

Make the blacks look like the lovers the white media executive expect of them. It makes them uncomfortable when a black doesn't do drugs, hustle 'hos' and talk in ebonics.

Luther is one of my favorite gumshoes. Idris was even better before the writers tried to warp the show with some kind of weird psychology.

Isn't the Caribbean Food remark a bit racist? Sort of like demanding that black people must like collard greens and fried chicken? This would be exactly like demanding that a black chef whose specialty is French cuisine, must concentrate on preparing soul food or else his level of blackness will be questioned by white-run corporations. This is becoming absurd.

Back in the 1920s and 1930s, Washington D.C. had an upper class black population, but to be considered a member, one had to pas two tests -.the brown paper bag test, and the fan test.
A person could not have skin darker than a brown paper bag, and the person's hair had to move around, if sitting or standing in front of a fan.
I don't know what the current standards are.

Hey Diversity Chief....How about you just look at the character as a PERSON who likes what they like and lives however they want to live! Not all Black people surround themselves with culturally appropriate art, eat African/Caribbean Food, and feel the need to celebrate their 'blackness" every day. They just want to get, up, go to work, and live life the same as an Asian, Hispanic, or White person without having to live like some politically correct stereotype. If the character in the show is British, and was born & raised in Britain, it makes sense that he surrounds himself with British things. Yes, there may be some references to being Black but not everyone is obsessed with their race. They just live their lives so that their race becomes an afterthought. Maybe the Diversity Chief should try that. She would be a much happier person and the world would be a much better place.
