New Jersey has banned police officers from lingering around polling stations and ballot drop boxes on election days under a new law that advocates argued was needed to protect against voter intimidation. Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy signed the Democratic-sponsored bill into law earlier in the week after it passed the Democratic-controlled state Legislature mostly along party lines. It says both plain-clothed or uniformed police need to keep at least 100 feet from polling stations or drop boxes.

Long-time "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace announced on Sunday that he would no longer be hosting the weekly show, saying he was leaving to pursue opportunities "beyond politics. "After 18 years — this is my final Fox News Sunday. It is the last time — and I say this with real sadness — we will meet like this," Wallace said at the end of the program. Eighteen years ago, the bosses here at Fox promised me they would never interfere with a guest I booked or a question I asked and they kept that promise.

Donald trump is a man consumed with grievance against people he believes have betrayed him, but few betrayals have enraged him more than what his attorney general did to him. To Trump, the unkindest cut of all was when William Barr stepped forward and declared that there had been no widespread fraud in the 2020 election, just as the president was trying to overturn Joe Biden’s victory by claiming that the election had been stolen.

Iran on Wednesday said the U.S. had agreed to lift former President Trump's sanctions on Iranian oil and shipping that have devastated the country's economy. "An agreement has been reached to remove all insurance, oil and shipping sanctions that were imposed by (former U.S. President Donald) Trump," said outgoing Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's chief of staff Mahmoud Vaezi, Reuters reports, citing state media. The Hill has reached out to the White House and the U.S. State Department to confirm Vaezi's remarks.

A U.S. student who was studying in Russia was found dead early Saturday morning, according to Russia's Investigative Committee, NPR reported. Catherine Serou, 34, was a master’s student at Lobachevsky University in Nizhny Novgorod studying law. She was reported missing Tuesday... According to NPR, Serou reportedly got into a stranger’s vehicle in a suburb of the area where she went to school. She allegedly texted her mother, "In a car with a stranger. I hope I'm not being abducted." These messages were the last her mother heard from her.

It looks like Gov. Phil Murphy will go unchallenged in this year’s Democratic gubernatorial primary after administrative law judges Tuesday said his two would-be challengers should be tossed off the ballot for failing to get enough voter signatures on their petitions.(snip) The Democratic State Committee charged that McCormick’s campaign used voter data to automatically fill petitions without the voters’ knowledge. There were at least two petitioners who were dead when they allegedly signed their support for McCormick’s campaign, some names were misspelled and others had moved out of the state

The man who beat an Asian woman to the ground then kicked her in the head in a brutal, caught-on-camera hate attack in Midtown earlier this week was arrested by police early Wednesday morning, cops said. Brandon Elliot, 38, was arrested at about 2 a.m. Wednesday and hit with a number of charges, including assault as a hate crime and attempted assault as a hate crime, police said.CORRECTION*

Doris Day, the perennial girl-next-door whose career as a singer and actress spanned almost 50 years and made her one of the biggest box Hollywood stars and most popular entertainers in the United States has died. She was 97. The Doris Day Animal Foundation confirmed Day died early Monday at her Carmel Valley, California, home. The foundation says in an emailed statement she was surrounded by close friends and "had been in excellent physical health for her age, until recently contracting a serious case of pneumonia."
