Whether much benefit has been gained from these shutdowns is debatable, but the costs are not: On the one hand, policymakers have, too often, oversold the benefits of their measures. On the other, they have downplayed any costs: indeed, pointing out that these costs exist at all is likely to get you branded a ‘Covid denier’. But these costs are very real.

Former CNN host Piers Morgan has come under fire over his social media tribute to Larry King, whose death was announced Saturday. Morgan replaced King on CNN’s “Larry King Live” in January 2011 to host the renamed “Piers Morgan Tonight,” a move that caused tension between the two. The “Good Morning Britain” co-anchor chose to address said tension in his acknowledgment of King’s death while taking a jab at King’s former marriages. “Larry King was a hero of mine until we fell out after I replaced him at CNN & he said my show was ‘like watching your mother-in-law go over a cliff in your new Bentley.’ (He married 8 times so

One Republican Congressman says instead of sending stimulus checks to every qualifying American, direct payments should go to people who receive the coronavirus vaccine. “I hope the administration will look at that option because we actually buy something with our $1,400—and that’s herd immunity,” said Rep. Steve Stivers (R., Ohio) in an interview with Yahoo Finance Live. President Joe Biden has called for individual $1,400 payments in his $1.9 trillion relief plan—which some Republicans argue is too much and some progressives say is too little. Stivers opposes additional stimulus checks as the proposal currently stands. The Biden administration has said it prefers

LOS ANGELES — Larry King, the suspenders-sporting everyman whose broadcast interviews with world leaders, movie stars and ordinary Joes helped define American conversation for a half-century, died Saturday. He was 87. King died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, his production company, Ora Media, tweeted. No cause of death was given, but a spokesperson said Jan. 4 that King had COVID-19, had received supplemental oxygen and had been moved out of intensive care. His son Chance Armstrong also confirmed King’s death, CNN reported. A longtime nationally syndicated radio host

Brooklyn rapper Casanova infuriated a rival by flashing a gang sign outside a Miami strip club, sparking a shooting, court papers revealed Friday. The new charges against accused Gorilla Stone Bloods member Jarrett “Jaycee” Crisler created more legal trouble for Casanova, the “Don’t Run” rapper ensnared in the gang takedown. Manhattan federal prosecutors wrote that a search of Crisler’s cellphone revealed the Oct. 24 shooting at King of Diamonds Miami strip club. “Killed a ni--a last night smh,” Crisler texted, according to the feds. “Some neighborhood crip ni--a.” The showdown began, prosecutors wrote, after a rival spotted Casanova taking pictures and flashing gang signs.

A group of three dozen House Democrats signed a letter Friday asking President Joe Biden to commute the death sentences of all federal death row inmates and work to dismantle the form of punishment at the federal level. The plea comes on the heels of 13 executions carried out by the Trump administration since July, a legacy the Democrats described as "one of carnage and unrestrained violence." They called on Biden, who has voiced his opposition to the death penalty, to emphasize rehabilitation for offenders in his Justice Department, not execution. "The fact of the matter is that these death

President Joe Biden has put his team to work reviewing dozens of actions taken by former President Donald Trump, aiming to reverse orders that he says harm the environment or endanger public health. For the energy sector and Louisiana jobs, the impact could be far-reaching. Oil and gas operations are being scrutinized — from how companies extract resources from the ground to the safety of pipelines that distribute the fuels. The new president aims to transition the country to 100% renewable energy for electricity generation by 2035 and net-zero emissions in the overall economy by 2050. Many experts agree that

I sure wish I had not learned so much over the last five years. In retrospect, five short years ago seems almost like Mayberry. Here are some important things that I didn’t know five years ago or now. There actually is a deep state and they really do not honor the election results nor the will of the people. There really appear to be lawless elements within the upper echelons of the FBI, CIA, and NSA who are not accountable for their crimes and are thus above the law. The fourth branch of government, the bureaucracy, really is unaccountable to the "unwashed masses."

Despite the hype and expectations for "a storm," Jan. 20 marked another relatively peaceful transition of power, from one presidential administration to the next. Yes, there were more law enforcement than spectators at this strange inauguration, reminiscent of a Soviet May Day parade, but it was anticlimactic, at least to the many expecting a long-awaited storm, unleashed by Trump supporters, supposedly on the deep state, during former (I hate to use that word) President Trump’s final days in office.

Rasmussen Reports, one of only about three reputable pollsters out there, found that His Fraudulency Joe Biden’s first ever job approval rating as president is a pathetic 48 percent. Get this… President Trump’s exit approval rating was 51 percent. HAHAHAHAHA!! It gets even better… When President Trump took office in 2017, his first job approval rating in this same poll was 56 percent, which is eight points higher than His Fraudulency’s 48 percent. Hell, even Barry Obama entered office with a 67 percent approval rating back in ’09. The more you look at these numbers, the worse they are for Biden. When President Trump entered office, his disapproval rating was 44 percent.

I never expected that an MSNBC host would deliver outright admission that the media have a serious double standard and would attack Donald Trump for actions that Joe Biden just took to no approbation at all. Has someone spiked the coffee pot at the MSNBC’s DC studios with sodium thiopental? Or is it that with Democrats in charge of all 3 elective organs of the federal government, it is deemed safe to let a little bit of truth out? We’ll never know, but I am guessing we won’t see any similar admissions anytime soon.

Several unions that eagerly endorsed President Joe Biden during the 2020 presidential election are now learning the hard way what it means to support Democrat policies. During his first day in office, the newly-inaugurated president revoked the construction permit for the Keystone XL oil pipeline, thus destroying thousands of jobs. TC Energy Corp., the Canadian company that shares ownership of the pipeline with the Alberta government, had estimated that 10,000 jobs — in addition to the 1,000 already established — would be created in 2021 alone thanks to the construction of the pipeline.

The advisory came after Florida officials fielded complaints that people from as far away as Canada and Argentina, among other countries, were flocking to the Sunshine State for a vaccine. The last time these slinking mongrels in Congress impeached President Trump, a deadly disease from China was stalking our country, poised to pounce and kill close to 400,000 Americans. In those crucial early months of the global pandemic, our federal government ground to a halt as Democrats in Congress pursued with blind fury a hotly partisan and clearly futile effort to remove Mr. Trump. Democrats failed. Mr. Trump survived. Everyone knew the outcome of the fake charade from the start. But as Democrats dawdled, bloviated and fawned for the cameras, the pandemic prevailed.
