I sure wish I had not learned so much over the last five years. In retrospect, five short years ago seems almost like Mayberry. Here are some important things that I didn’t know five years ago or now.
There actually is a deep state and they really do not honor the election results nor the will of the people.
There really appear to be lawless elements within the upper echelons of the FBI, CIA, and NSA who are not accountable for their crimes and are thus above the law.
The fourth branch of government, the bureaucracy, really is unaccountable to the "unwashed masses."

In the past, the Dims didn't want black people to read books. Now they believe in equality, and don't want anybody to have information not approved by them.
The Curated Mind. Otherwise, they have to steal elections and foment riots to exert control. They still prefer PsyOps to burglaring elections and having violence. But that appears to be changing. It's too easy for them to steal the vote and maintain a low boil of chaotic force.
The Gullibles with their Curated Minds are fine with it. As long as a pretext of approval is there, no need for open force. But now, allong with perpetual masks, it looks like perpetual military presence is on the horizon, because of "the danger."

Please add a sigh for no one being able to leave comments at your site, AT. You didn't know about that five years ago either, did you?

When you take elections off the table, all you have left is violence. The exact same violence faced by George III and his mercenaries. Its back to the future!

The rate of decline of essential, foundational American institutions is astounding, as is the willingness of Americans to tolerate that decline.
American culture has degraded to the point that the very existence of America is threatened.

Couldn't agree more, except that many of us suspected all of this to be true 5 years ago and have now been proven 100% correct. On a separate note, I've noticed that American Thinker has removed it's "comments" feature. Are they worried they will be the next to have their site pulled from the Internet?

The American people have a long fuse. The Japanese learned that over 70 years ago. Awakening of a sleeping giant is still applicable. There will be some sort of backlash. In what form I don't know, but a violent one isn't off the table. The violence, if it happens, could be directed at the people who run these government institutions. The people in charge think they are insulated from any of this. That's their weak spot.

The John Birchers were a helluva lot more right than wrong.
The Bushies and Romneys were a helluva lot less interested in the American people than protecting the aristocracy.

I can relate to all of these and I do wish that we didn't know now what we only kinda sorta thought mighta been true five years ago (slang intended). But reading down the list the one that really surprised me as being cemented in fact from before was this one:
--Presidential elections really can be stolen by corrupting just a handful of precincts in just a handful of states.
I grew up hearing about how Illinois was stolen and how it took the election from Nixon, but I still pretty much believed it was likely just sour grapes. I now have to rethink that. I also saw (yes, actually saw) a family friend trying to buy votes with a pickup truckload of whiskey half-pints in one election when I was growing up (I was still too young to vote myself), but never put two and two together to realize that the democrat industry of buying votes could actually be effective at turning an election. Taken into account with the rest of the author's list, now I wish I didn't know now what I previously didn't know. It's a heavy burden to bear that will only get lighter as our memories finally fade.

I do not understand why this is such a mystery? If someone tells you of his episodes at the local bar, he is probably a drunk. If someone talks about porn all the time, they are probably a pervert. For years we have known that the power structures in the DOJ, FBI, CIA, State Department, and NSA have been meddling in foreign elections and affairs so why is it any surprise that they would use the same tactics on their own country?

The author missed perhaps the most important revelation of the past five years. There is no patriotic, determined, mass of seething but otherwise "We the People" type of "Normal Americans," enabled by the 2nd amendment, pledged and able to rise as a people as did the Patriots of 1776, to hold wayward politicians accountable when they openly flaunt their willingness to shred the Constitution and curtail individual liberties. Prior to the Trump administration, there was at least the facade of a critical mass of Americans willing to take collective action against things like a Deep State coup against an elected president or accept draconian violations of personal liberty under the guise of a pandemic response. Fear of armed conflict stayed the hand of the communists at the roots of the democrat party and embedded in our federal workforce. They no longer have anything to fear from the mythical, brave, and 2nd amendment-capable Americans. Such Americans once referred to themselves as "Patriots" but they sat out actual assaults on the Constitution and attacks against the president elected by these same Normal Americans. These so called Patriots couldn't even be inconvenienced to pull themselves away from their TV sets, focused on network "news" that supplies communist propaganda while making billions in advertising dollars or stop sending their dollars to corporations who openly advocate punishing the Normal Americans. Now there is talk of a new Patriot political party to be initially organized and led by Donald Trump. If it is populated with what can only be called Patriots in Name Only (PINOS), like our former self-styled patriots who disappeared off the radar when our cities began to burn and our president was impeached under obviously false charges manufactured by the press, Deep State operatives, and middle finger-raised Uniparty politicians, then it is destined to do everything possible to avoid hard, unpleasant work in defense of Liberty while our country is transformed into a third-world communist dung heap.

Even worse, the bureaucracy is not accountable to the President. As for us, they do not defend us against foreign enemies. They conspire with foreigners against us to maintain their tyranny, and enrich themselves.

#3, nails it. When the other three boxes are eliminated, we have only limited possiblities of how to respond. That is not a good thing.

Thank you, Mr. Coy, for saying what I've been thinking. These people seem to have a stranglehold on our federal government and, consequently - we the people.

Have tossed out a few ideas here like a 3 party Congress. President Mattressback can't sign what they can't pass.
There is as a last gasp The Republic of Texas.

It doesn't have to be violence, at least not at first. Just start ignoring their stupid laws en masse. They do.

#5, they were specifically threatened with having the site shut down if they didn't have their comments continuously monitored and "cleansed" of "unacceptable" comments. Having no ability to do real time comment monitoring (and probably unwilling to censor) they were forced to either end the comments, or be shut down by the enemy who run the net.

#12 makes a very good point. The lack of effective push back to the Covid tyranny, the election theft, and the new round of repression imposed after the events at the capital has reinforced the belief within the Oligarchy and Deep State that they are in firm control and will remain so. The next election will be the final test. They will attempt to steal every office from dog catcher on up. If they succeed it will dispel any doubt that they now rule over a lazy and cowardly people. And then Americans will suffer the fate of all lazy and cowardly people: lives of tyranny and fear.

To Reply #5 - I contacted A.T. and was advised they have suspended the comments because of the vitriol they contain which could easily lead to violence. They did not wish to be part of it.

Poster #17, I'm aware of the information you shared. I just think they should be brave enough to fight back against their oppressors by at least mentioning what happened to them in their articles, since they can't have comments. Often.
