Don’t laugh, but once upon a time I was so naïve that I thought libertarians were really about liberty.
I even thought that they had an important raison d’être. Back in the day when some of us were uneasy both with GOP preaching on social issues and with Democrat statism, the libertarians seemed to offer a sensible place in between. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D., R.I.) on Tuesday savaged conservative dark-money groups, citing the work of a left-wing group funded by dark money in his attacks.
In an exchange with Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett that Whitehouse used to deliver a soliloquy attacking "dark money"—groups that do not disclose their donors—Whitehouse cited research from the Center for Media and Democracy, a group funded by anonymous left-wing donors.
The Center for Media and Democracy received $520,000 in 2011 from the Schwab Charitable Fund, which conceals the sources of its funding. That contribution alone made up 60 percent of the group's 2011 revenue.
This week, China, Russia, and Cuba were elected to the United Nations' Human Rights Council. This trio of countries is among the worst offenders of human rights on the planet.
If this were an election for United Nations human rights abusers, China would bring home the gold medal. No amount of double-talk about regional representation or anything else can justify this travesty. This is yet another example, as if one was needed, showing not just how useless the U.N. is, but how corrupt and downright immoral it is.
To provide some context for this letter, even beyond what is stated by Senators Grassley and Johnson, it is worthwhile remembering the 300 pages of text messages between FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and his DOJ lawyer Lisa Page were originally revealed in March of 2019. Catherine Herridge reported on two of those pages.
Today Grassley and Johnson send a letter [pdf here] asking FBI Director Chris Wray to stop stonewalling congressional oversight and provide the text messages. Within the letter the senators outline a few examples highlighting how McCabe and Page were coordinating FBI leaks to their media allies during a key and critical time-frame:

The Department of Justice on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against Stephanie Winston Wolkoff over her recently published tell-all book discussing First Lady Melania Trump, to whom she previously served as an assistant.
The suit was filed in District Court in Washington, D.C, alleging Wolkoff – a former best friend of Melania Trump – breached a nondisclosure agreement and did not provide a draft copy of the book to the government for review.

The FBI relied on news reports from Yahoo and Mother Jones in an attempt to corroborate allegations put forth in the salacious and unverified dossier authored by ex-British intelligence agent Christophere Steele, according to a newly-declassified document obtained by Fox News.
