Donald Trump’s Supreme mistake: Amy Coney
Barrett’s nomination may well supercharge
Democratic turnout

As the Senate conducts its hearing to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court this week, the timing of her nomination — just a week and a day after the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and weeks before a presidential election — has enraged Democrats in Congress and many Democratic voters. (Snip) And exit polls showed that nationally, more voters opposed Kavanaugh’s nomination than supported it. The numbers were especially stark among women.
If Barrett has a similar effect on turnout — mobilizing more Democrats than Republicans — that’s even math that Trump can do, and it isn’t good for him.
Trump needs every vote he can get.

Yes, it will supercharge Demo turn out to vote for Trump. This story is a well-intentioned piece designed to keep demos encouraged and hopeful Biden is going to take a coast to coast landslide. In reality it will be the other way around.

If Mr. Trump had not nominated a good candidate for the Supreme Court, he would have depressed Republican turnout.
I don't accept the premise of this article. I don't think a Supreme Court nomination is going to make more Democrats turn out to vote. They are either going to vote or not going to vote. Democrats cannot be angrier than they are -- at least not in a way that is going to affect whether and how they vote.

Another case of wiishful thinking as "reporting":
"IF Barrett has a similar effect on turnout . . ."
And if Grandma had wheels, I'd have been a trolley.

Well if he doesn't fill the seat then the left gets "supercharged" with an opportunity to elect Biteme to fill it.
Once again, it does not matter what he does. It will be wrong to opposers.

I don’t think so. Nice try…
I believe that President Trump’s getting three new Conservative justices will fire up the base considerably. There are a few more vulnerable justices left who may go or have to retire during the next four years.

Please S.E. This is Trump.
He's already calculated the odds on this. He'll (we'll) be okay. You can trust him.
We do.

Since the Democrat candidate, himself, is not supercharging any great turnouts to his few political appearances, how would Amy Coney Barrett's nomination change anything?

You wanna talk about supercharging someone? The base of normal people has been waiting excruciatingly for 50 years to get a SJCOTUS that applies the actual Constitution to our laws.
We want a 7-2 before 2024. NO ONE with the slightest temptation to vote Republican is staying home on Nov 3.

I don't think I've ever seen SE have a good thing to say about President Trump, so I will ignore what she thinks. Personally, I see only enthusiasm from Republicans. Thousands of them stand in the Hot Sun for a whole day to see Trump Speak. Biden can't get even 20 people, even with the offer of chairs and air conditioning! I have faith Trump will win another four years! He has earned it and he deserves it. My hope is he will take along all the Republican Congress and Senate candidates with him! We need to get Nancy out of there and Hold the Senate. Then watch Trump soar!!

Believe me it will also supercharge Trump turnout. Not that Trump needs any supercharging. Check the rally stats
Trump 20,000
Biden 0 Really 0

But this isn't Kavanaugh’s nomination. Barrett is supported by a 17 point margin. Living in the past or fighting the last war is what losers always do.

Right. So he should have done what a Bush would have done and appoint a milquetoast, secretly liberal judge when he has this chance, just to please the Lefist mob in the media.

Pure fantasy by Cupp.
Amy Coney Barrett is perfect. A great choice from the point of view of Constitutionalists.
A very uninspiring person from the point of view of stirring up the opposition. To the average voter, she's boring.

ACB's confirmation is imminent, and there is nothing the Democrats can do about it. ACB is the best candidate ever put before the Senate for confirmation, and there is no stopping it. We are fortunate to finally have someone with a code of principles, ethics, and morals. The contrast with the Democrats is stark. The Democrats appeared nasty, corrupt, and old, when questioning ACB. It was a depiction of the realities. It will not supercharge the Democrat turnout, because what they are seeing is the disgrace they have brought.

What a hick town NYC is. The local yokels hire absolute morons like this Cupp woman to write about their stupid 'insights.' How inbred do you have to be to believe nonsense like this? I'd love to be the car salesman that sells Cupp a car. The dealer would give me a bonus after she leaves. Maybe since Cupp is so smart the Daily News team should get together and back her for a run at the W.H. After all NYC is the center of the universe and the spring of all wisdom. What a glorious meltdown it will be in little old NYC if the rats can't steal this election.

Just one more reason why Republicans are supercharged to vote for President Trump is that he may very well get another chance to replace a leftist justice. I hear that diabetic and obese Sotomayor is not doing well.

S.E.Cupp - nice try ya little NeverTrumper. In my 60 something years, I have never ever seen the conservative Republican base this excited, this genuinely appreciative for a President’s real accomplishments, this bold for their President and more determined to stand by his side. Its like a big family, an unstoppable force of truly inclusive, friendly, God-fearing, America loving patriots ! Good luck Ms. Cupp trying to talk it down! haha

I disagree with her premise. I think that a lot of Democrats were driven to the polls in 2016 because of the open Supreme Court seat. The ACB hearings are just making the Democrats look like fools. If I were a Democrat voter I would be disheartened after watching these hearings.

Does she mean just like Justice Kavanaugh's nomination did before the 2018 elections?!?!?!?
Oh wait, no it didn't. In fact, most experts believe it was the defining thing that helped the Republicans not only hold, but increase their majority in, the Senate!!!

S.E. Cupp is shaking in her Jimmy Choos. That which she has feared has come upon her. And, there's nothing she can do about it. Another great example of how the opinions of the news readers and stenographers will not matter in yet another national election. Ms Cupp should get seriously bent.

She is wrong. If anything, it should emphasize to Never-Trumpers how important it is to have a Republican President. Clarence Thomas wants to retire and no one’s health is guaranteed.

She has a severe case of TDS. That said, it is possible Biden will cheat his way to victory which is why Trump's nomination of ACB before the election was a brilliant move.
