The Tampa Bay Lightning have done it. After a recent stretch of disappointing playoff exits, the Tampa Bay topped the Dallas Stars, 2-0, in Game 6 and are your 2020 Stanley Cup champions. It is the second Stanley Cup for the Lightning, who also won it all in 2004. Tampa Bay was led by a suffocating offensive attack, and in Game 6 received goals from Blake Coleman and Brayden Point. The Lightning kept the pressure on the Stars throughout the game. In the opening period, Point continued his stellar postseason as he scored his fifth goal of the Stanley Cup Finals. After Stars

Steve Mnuchin and the GOP are said to be open to talks on the Democrats' new $2.2trillion COVID package that includes a second round of $1,200 stimulus checks, $600 in extra unemployment and $225billion for schools. The scaled back, last ditch proposal represents a cutback from a $3.4 billion bill that passed the House in May, but remains well above what Senate Republicans had been willing to accept. Republicans have endorsed staying in the $650 billion to $1 trillion range. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told her fellow Democrats Monday that the proposal will 'protect lives, livelihoods, and the life of our democracy over the coming months'.

A new study has found signs that the severity of COVID-19 — and the viral loads those infected carry — may be fading. Researchers at Wayne State University say that viral loads, which is the amount of the virus in a patient’s system, continue to drop, which could explain why the death rate is falling. “Dr. Said El Zein and his team analyzed viral loads of SARS-CoV-2, the virus causing COVID-19, coming from patient nasal swabs over two months,” Study Finds reported on Sunday. “From April 4 to June 5, a downward trend in the amount of virus detected in patients at Detroit Medical Center was discovered.”

There was once a tradition of Democratic liberalism. But that wing of the Democratic Party no longer exists and died sometime in the 1990s. Old-style liberalism has been absorbed by Progressivism at best and unapologetic socialism at worst—in a journey on the supposedly predetermined arc of history that bends toward 1984. The new-old leftist aim is not to operate within either the existing parameters of the Constitution as written or the customs and traditions of America—a 150-year-long nine-justice Supreme Court, the Electoral College, a 50-state nation, a Senate filibuster, two senators per state, and a secure border. All are obstructions to the drive for power.

In August 2000, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict seemed to be only a couple of signatures away from becoming a footnote in the history of the Middle East. The accepted logic in Washington DC and foreign policy think tanks throughout the Western world was that Israeli-Palestinian peace was the gateway to wider peace in the Middle East.
