A battle between farmers and ‘trust-fund hippies’: How a 170-foot Trump sign is dividing one Virginia county

It was two weeks before anyone spoke of the hay bales. This was odd, said Rachel Rowland, of Flint Hill, Va. — because the locals had certainly seen them: The display is 170 feet wide. Wrapped in glinting white plastic, the bales are stacked atop a rolling mountain hillside along Route 211, relaying their message to any nearby resident who drives to the closest grocery store. “Farmers for Trump 2020,” the bales say, hand-painted with red and blue capital letters. “Keep America Great.”

My father and mother lived in Virginia until they died about seven years ago. I have lived in Virginia off and on since I was in the second grade. Mostly off, since the 70s, but still have friends and own land there. These damned worthless leftists from DC are literally wrecking a wonderful state, bit by bit. I have watched it happening, the infection from DC spreading like kudzu. Too bad there isn't any RoundUp for leftists.

It always happens when people escape from communist states and move to free states. They move here and dazzle us rubes with their great knowledge and wisdom about how we should run our state so it will be just like the hell hole they left. Whenever I see a New York plate I unconsciously check to make sure I still have my wallet and gun.

I went thru rural Indiana last Sunday. Not a Biden sign..not a single one. These are the “deplorables”. Get up early, work hard, sometimes excessively. Risk their lives, gamble their fortunes annual, believe in God, motherhood, and apple pie. That many farmers cannot be wrong...I am voting with them.

We need to defund DC. Virginia has become Blue largely because it sits as a suburb to Washington. Reditect our tax dollars to other parts of the US. The work at home movement has proven there is no longer a universal need for a centralized federal government. Move its pieces out across the country and just maybe we'd see a reversal of DC's attitude to we - the country bumpkin deplorables.

Unfortunately, this is happening all over the country; even more so with leftists fleeing big cities because of COVID19. Our small tourist town on one of the Great Lakes has been inundated with them in the last 10 years. They tear down small cottages and build their mansions. The ones who think that they want a more rural experience build their houses in the countryside and then complain about the smells from the local farms and the tractors that drive too slowly down their roads. Fifteen years ago at a local parade a float for the Democrat party went by and everyone joked that they were surprised there was a Democrat party in our county. Now the lakeshore properties are awash with Biden/Harris signs. I've heard conservatives laugh about liberals leaving the big Democratic governed cities, but they shouldn't laugh too hard. Leftists might move to their town and bring their politics with them.

When you give up oversight and control of all education from Kindergarten to Graduate School, THIS is the result. We will not be rid of these educated, but mind dead neocommunists until education really means understanding how the real world works and what happened to get us to this rotten culture.

I lived in Loudoun County, VA for 24 years and watched it turn from solid red to solid blue. In the 1996 election, Dole won every polling district. Then Clinton started a massive expansion of the federal government and by the time 0bama showed up, DC bureaucrats had moved in and he won the county in both elections. As did Illary. Look at Virginia now. I left in January of 2018 and moved to a ruby red state.

sarc on/ Obviously, most people here simply do not understand those people who are risking their lives by leaving the utopias of N.Y., Seattle, Portland. L.A., San Francisco, Chicago, Minneapolis etc and moving out here to the hinterlands to educate we Neanderthal knuckle draggers and introduce us to the wonders of indoor chamber pots and running water. sarc off/ Actually, if asked, these trans plants will tell you, in all sincerity, that what happened was their efforts were pure but were thwarted by people who simply did not know 'how to do it right' ( be it socialism, communism, commune whatever ). They really believe that is the reason for its failure and if we can all work together and 'do it right' then it will work just find and we really will have utopia. The analogy I have used - You cannot step out of a 10th story window, flap your arms and fly. It has nothing to do with 'doing it wrong and if done correctly it will work'. It has to do with 'IT DOESN'T WORK NO MATTER WHO DOES IT OR HOW' !!! Cognitive dissonance - it's like trying to reason with a soap dish, a very small soap dish !!

Two State Department cables in 2018 warned that a new laboratory in Wuhan did not have enough trained personnel to operate it safely while it was studying SARS-like coronaviruses isolated from bats, according to the cables that were published on Friday after a Freedom of Information Act request. A cable sent from the U.S. Embassy in Beijing on January 19, 2018, notified Washington that China had opened the Wuhan Institute of Virology, its first Biosafety Level 4 (BSL-4) laboratory, and that the lab’s leadership considered it ready for research on class-four pathogens (P4) — the most virulent viruses that pose a high risk of person-to-person transmission.

It’s a tribute to the great Rush Limbaugh that the reaction to his cancer diagnosis by the tens of millions of people he inspired was not to be devastated but to focus and to resolutely offer their thoughts and prayers in his fight. And he will fight – he’ll fight this like he has fought everything and everyone else that tried to take him out over the last third of a century. He is the archetypal conservative brawler, a no-apologies, no-excuses conservative who never submitted, never allowed himself to be domesticated and neutered by the elite.

President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden went head-to-head on Tuesday night, and moderator Chris Wallace got knocked out. Wallace seemed to push left-wing talking points to help Trump and hurt Biden, but both candidates talked over him. Trump and Biden brought out the fisticuffs and both got in a few good hits. Biden stumbled but he did not come across as a bumbling fool. While Trump and Biden both went on the offensive, Trump got in more clear statements and Biden came across as shifty, especially on packing the Supreme Court.

With 24 hours having passed since the first presidential debate, it’s becoming clear that Trump won in a big way. It wasn’t an apparent victory, but it was a real one: He showed his base and ordinary Americans that he will always fight while forcing Biden to disavow both his hard-left base and the last of the old-fashioned Democrats who still support him Don’t pay too much attention to the pessimistic pundits. The worriers worried, the haters hated, the ambivalent were ambivalent, the cheerleaders cheered. Personality may not be destiny, but it determines post-debates reviews.
