And here’s the rest of the story….

The late broadcaster Paul Harvey had a signature introduction to his commentary, “and here’s the rest of the story.” (snip) with the exception of a few diehard journalists, the fourth estate continues to leave out the pertinent facts of controversies that would completely change the narrative. So, consider this column, my attempt to fill in the news gap of the most volatile incidents that have inspired incendiary and totally unwarranted responses: the deaths of Michael Brown, George Floyd, Jacob Blake and Breonna Taylor.

not quite the rest of the story, alicia.
breonna Taylor was intimately involved in the money generated by drug sales. She took care of bail money for the seven member drug gang, cutting out the bail bondsmen. Boyfriend #1, not her ex,was in constant contact with Breonna, including personal visits to her apartment.
We don't
know what was i9n the apartment - drugs, money - because the police didn't search it after the shootout. boyfriend #2 was in bed with her when the police showed up0-, and he said he thought boyfriend #1 was breaking in, so he shot - at the police.
And he may have used Breonna as a human shield. She got shot, he didn't.

Adding to #1 - it wasn't a no-knock warrant. It had a no-knock provision, but they didn't use it. They both knocked and identified themselves. Boyfriend came up shooting, and she was in the crossfire, not in the bed.

So Breonna wasn;t quite that innocent but the issue is that swat teams are being dispatched without proper vetting. There are numerous cases of teams invading wrong addresses, killing innocents with overkill. They need better training and surveilance.. The quick settlement of 12 million shows that they knew they made big booboo.

I think there a rest of the rest of the story with Breonna. When boyfriend of the year started shooting at the police in response to their knock identifying themselves as the police, how is it she was riddled with bullets and not him? Why didn't she hug the floor? I think Mr. wondaful used her as a shield.

#3, I have not heard this was a SWAT team. As far as we know it was 3 cops serving a search warrant and nothing else.

Oh, and as far as I know SWAT teams do not notify their presence and knock on doors they just bust them down. They move fast and overwhelm their target.

None of this matters to the Flying Monkeys of BLM. All they wanted was a flimsy excuse to begin their looting and burning events and these unfortunates provided that. It puzzles us why they react so violently but we must recall that a mere few hundred years ago, these people could be worked into a frenzy by a painted witch doctor rattling bones and dancing around a fire to prompt the same kind of behavior. No, we are not all equal, our differences span centuries.

Some enterprising journalist (a real one) should start a news source called: ''The News that the media didn't report!''
That would attract a lot of interest.

Re #3, this was not a SWAT team. As for their training, we don’t know that they need more training. The settlement of $12 million was a copout.
They had a valid warrant - one of five for addresses known to be associated with this major drug dealer, who had been Breonna’s boyfriend. Surveillance cameras had caught him going to her apartment and picking up packages.
We should not muddy the water with abstract claims that are not factual.

Re #9, had Breonna opened the door, she probably would not have been shot. Do we know why she didn’t. Was her boyfriend, who shot first and hit one of the officers, keep her from opening it?
Serving warrants on residence addresses of known criminals may be one of the most dangerous things our law enforcement officers do.

The writer (Alicia Colon) says that the Taylor woman had "dated" the guy who was with her. This is akin the Kamala Harris "dating" the California official with whom she frequently slept. I went through high school and the Navy as a single man and seem to remember "dating" as different from the cited actions. How come we never get the truth. Part of the truth is that couples who live together without being married often have violence as a part of their sordid "relationship".

Enough about Breonna. I'd like to hear what opinion is about rest of column info. Much of what Breoanna is just coming out now after Alicia wrote column.

This is not a typical Alicia Colon column. More will be revealed.

#3 and Colon say "SWAT teams". I have seen nothing indicating that this was a SWAT raid. The officers who fired were detectives, and they are not normally part of SWAT teams.
As I understand it, and I admit not wasting a lot of time on this one, there were three officers, one a uniformed officer, two detectives in plain clothes.
AFAIK, no SWAT involvement. Please correct me if this is wrong.
