Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., introduced legislation last week to establish federal standards regarding the counting of ballots, ahead of the upcoming presidential election between Democratic nominee Joe Biden and President Trump.
The Verifiable, Orderly, & Timely Election Results (VOTER) Act would create standards for various vote-by-mail systems that exist across the country and would require all eligible ballots to be counted and reported within 24 hours after polls close on Election Day, according to a press release from Scott's office.

The big question is, will The Turtle allow it to progress to a floor vote? Or will he kill it like the criminal justice reform bill?

Ballots must NEVER be 'found' in closets, car trunks, Aunt Bettie's attic. etc. All ballots must have a verifiable trail and signatures of handlers or will be considered 'tainted'.

Excellent, but Democrats will not vote to voluntarily diminish their opportunities to commit as much voter fraud as will be possible. Hopefully there will be additional judicial decisions by federal courts. Such decisions are needed to eliminate the outrageous decisions of various state courts that approve arbitrary edicts of Governors. Such edicts ignore state statute requirements, all asserted to be necessary because of COVID-19.

This needs to be done when the pubbies control both houses of congress, like, say, when Paul Ryan (lyin' ryan) was house speaker - oops! They didn't do that then, did they? More political theater until the citizens hold these clowns responsible and watch them closely every second of every day when they are in office. You can't trust the fake-news (aka propaganda) media to do that.

Just heard on FOX that some states open the ballots when received, some open one week before the election while others open day of the election. No way can some counties open, verify and count in 24 hours. Once again GOP caught with pants down not thinking ahead.

All of a sudden, this year, there is trouble counting ballots. All these years 200+ ballots have been counted immediately and the results of the election were announced by 2 a m at the very latest. Now we need 24 hours, or 9 days after the election. Geez. Why not count ballots right up to the time the president is sworn in. We can make it a SURPRISE,THE WINNER IS......
do what has been done for every election since George Washington. Count the ballots on Election Day Final count that day. Just like it’s always been done. No ballots counted that are not postmarked on Election Day after midnight. Easy!

Seems like a long time, 24 hours. IMO, mailed ballots that aren't there on election day should be shredded as they arrive. Start counting the ones received before election day as they come in. Then count the few that arrive on election day. Done by 5 pm.

NO way! Those ballots need to be at the counting center 24 hours before the close of the polls. There is plenty of time to get them in. No excuses.

Get rid of mail-in ballots unless they are requested as absentee ballots for specific and allowable reasons. If someone doesn't request a ballot by mail, they shouldn't be receiving them unsolicited. I feel a bit ignorant here; I'm not sure what's legal anymore. Vote in person, show ID, for goodness sake!

Just think, states mailing out massive mail in balllots - if you request an absentee ballot, you'll end up getting two. One absentee and one mailed to you enmasse. You can vote twice.

It will never get a vote in the House. Nutty, Nasty Nancy will see to that. She wouldn't want to interfere with Dems fraud plans.
