After rolling blackouts, California
regulators voted to let gas powered

There were rolling blackouts in California last month on two consecutive days. The reason for the blackouts wasn’t a mystery. There was a heatwave across the region and as the sun went down and California’s solar generation started to fade, the California Independent System Operator (Cal ISO) simply couldn’t find enough power from other sources to meet the demand. The blackouts were ordered to prevent the entire grid from entering a brownout. Several outlets including NPR and the Wall Street Journal made the point that California’s push for green energy was partly responsible for the situation.

Gee California, was it not sunny or windy enough for you? I thought all those fires were fanned by hot, dry, and windy conditions, perfect for solar and wind power generation? What do they think is going to happen in a couple more years? They were forced to live up to their principles and not buy dirty power from neighboring states. They have given up on their best alternative, nuclear power and are following the Green lemmings off the cliffs into the Pacific Ocean. Will they be coming to borrow a cup of power from the rest of us in a couple years? Will they ever admit that in a Country overflowing with energy they turned away and went into the stupid and the dark? It's nice that California volunteered to be a laboratory of Socialism and failed spectacularly so that the rest of us will see what idiots they are and avoid their fate.

When you hear 'renewable energy' brace yourself it's California terminology that's not going to work. What next California? Banning internal combustion engine cars so the electric cars can really drain the power grids. California is quickly becoming a laughing stock not to be pitied.

If you’re willing to shell out 30 bucks at the behest of your kids, you can stream Disney’s remake of Mulan, its military fantasy based on a Chinese folk legend. But don’t make the mistake of thinking that it might offer a few hours of entertainment in which you can avoid dwelling on America’s current political crisis. These days, even Disney movies reveal the deepening divide between Americans that threatens to tear our country apart. Disney has spent years affixing content warnings to old material, revising and remaking it to conform with contemporary racial and gender standards. Mulan seems like a perfect fit for this project—the headstrong young heroine

It's been quite a week for Kamala Harris. In addition to promulgating anti-vaccination conspiracy theories about any coronavirus vaccine released during the Trump presidency, she met with the family of Jacob Blake, a man famous for fleeing from the police with his children in tow when he violated an existing restraining order after being charged with sexual assault. Blake has been famously lionized by the Left after being shot by the police when officers tried to arrest him as he reached in his car (telling them after the shooting that he had a knife, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel). Starting with 2024 films, your project can’t even be considered for a Best Picture Oscar unless it meets a set of diversity targets
Biden’s Lethal Latino Problem 7 replies

Joe Biden has the weakest Latino support of any recent Democratic presidential nominee. Former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama each received more than 70 percent of their votes, and 66 percent cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton in 2016. Former Vice President Biden, however, appears to be on track to capture as little as 60 percent of the Latino vote. Considering that Latinos constitute more than 10 percent of eligible voters in a dozen states, including crucial battlegrounds such as Florida (20 percent) and Arizona (23 percent), it’s difficult to see how Biden can win a majority in the Electoral College

“Crazy” was the term the FBI agent used to describe the behavior of Christopher Steele, author of the now-debunked Trump-Russia dossier. “I've seen crazy source-related stuff in 20 years in New York and this was one of the craziest," the veteran agent testified to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. Nevertheless, the FBI continued to rely on Steele’s allegations – that Donald Trump and his team were conspiring with Russians who possessed compromising information – to justify its surveillance of the Trump campaign. Without evidence to verify Steele’s claims, the FBI fell back on its assertion that the former British intelligence agent was reliable. The previously unreported testimony

A Rhode Island professor with a history of incendiary comments against conservatives is under fire this week for appearing to suggest that the fatal shooting of a Patriot Prayer supporter during unrest in Portland last month was morally justified. The comment from Erik Loomis, a history professor at the University of Rhode Island, came in response to a comment on his blog post: “Why Was Michael Reinoehl Killed?” The post questioned whether police deliberately “murdered” 48-year-old Michael Reinoehl, the man who fatally shot Aaron “Jay” Danielson on Aug. 29, the night Trump supporters clashed with backers of Black Lives Matter in Portland.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden misspoke during a campaign stop in Michigan, incorrectly saying that over 6,000 U.S. military members have died from the novel coronavirus. Speaking in Warren, Mich., Biden cited the number of confirmed cases and deaths from COVID-19 in Michigan as being the numbers for the military, saying the armed forces had seen 118,984 cases and 6,114 deaths. Shortly after the event, Biden’s campaign quickly clarified that Biden had mixed up the numbers for Michigan with those from military. As of Wednesday, only seven members of the military had died from COVID-19.(Snip)As of Wednesday, only seven members of the military had died from COVID-19.

It’s been a summer in the spotlight for America’s mayors. For many of them, that focus has been quite cruel. News consumers are lamentably familiar by now with names like de Blasio, Bowser, and Garcetti. Given the importance of the major metropolitan areas they govern, that’s unsurprising. What is surprising is the amount of public attention America’s smaller urban enclaves have generated, and that’s not because their respective mayors have been especially competent.

After last month’s strange virtual party conventions, the question on everyone’s minds is, who came out ahead? The polling has been mixed, but the candidates’ reactions make it obvious. You can tell just by looking at what Joe Biden has been doing in the time since. First, he has loudly distanced himself from his earlier, repeated promises to end fracking, which he made both in debates and in conversations with Democratic primary voters. This evinces a fear that his anti-fracking stance — and note that opposition to “new fracking” necessarily entails opposition to all fracking — will cost him Pennsylvania and other states enjoying the benefits of the energy revolution.
