The new movie, "Fatima," retells the story of three children from the village of Fatima in Portugal. In 1917 these children said they witnessed a visitation from the Virgin Mary.
Since that experience was recounted the story of 9-year-old Lucia and her two younger cousins, Francisco, 7, and Jacinta, 6, has been the subject of intense investigations by the Catholic Church, faith-driven historians and curious skeptics.

I’m surprised that, in the current climate, the children are not being portrayed as delusional crazies.

I was 13 when the film came out, and I still consider it to be one of the best films I have ever seen.
i won't watch the new version, in part because I won't go into a modern movie theater, but mostly, because some films should never be re-made.(the price o0f popcorn, price of tickets, price of a drink don't help[ matters either. In 1952, a lad could take his date to a movie, buy her some popcorn, a soda, and candy bar, as follows: tickets 25 cents each, popcorn, 10 cents, soda 5 cents, two candy bars 5 cents each. 90 cents, total cost of the date! )

Complete coinkydink that I found this movie on Xfinity the day of release and ordered it, having never heard of it but then discovering my wife really wanted to see it. Maybe even a miracle since Xfinity had stopped letting us access movies up until and then again after that day.
It was good, #2. Never saw the original so had no comparison, but it was good.

Saw the original so won't be going to see this one. I'm done with Hollyweird.

When Hollywood makes a movie on this topic I'm immediately suspicious. The heathens in Hollywood today would never make any movie unless they slant or slander the topic. Nope I'll pass as I have on everything that comes out of that s...hole.

I remember this story as a child, and even read a book about the event. IIRC, one of the things the Blessed Mother warned about was the evils and spread of communism, and for decades the Church took heed, with many pope’s taking this warning seriously. My how times have changed. I’ve always wondered how the pope, the Church hierarchy, clergy and layity now justifies the embrace of communism or one of its many factions. Last I heard, this event has been accepted by the Church as an actual Mary sighting, as opposed to the current Madjegori sightings. Do Mary’s messages “evolve” over time, like the morals of liberal Catholics? Or, is the RCC just ignoring “an inconvenient truth?” This new film about Fatima is available on Prime. I intend to watch it, as soon as viewing options become less expensive.

I haven't seen it, yet, but have heard generally positive reviews from credible folks in my church. They agreed that the contrived interview setting (that wasn't in the original) was distracting from the story, but not enough to ruin the film.
Amazon's streaming it for $19.99 (!). That's got to come down if market forces decide (rather than arbitrary efforts to marginalize Christian films by limiting the scope of their circulation)... I plan to wait until I can BUY it for that (or $25), like other ordinary films on DVD.

(to follow up on #7)
Scrolling to the bottom of the page on Amazon shows a DVD option for $23. Clicking on that shows that has "pre-order" status, and says "this title has not yet been released". Not sure how much I believe that it will ever be released for purchase on DVD, though.

In recent years, we've learned new information this story. As it turns out, the Catholic church completely changed the details about what really happened. I wish that the Fatima event was a genuine miracle as we've all been told, but in reality it looks like it was a demonic visit.

Like some other posters here, I too, saw the original movie on Fatima, many, many years ago. I saw the married couple, who headed this new film, Fatima, being interviewed on EWTN, and they informed us that they were from Canada, and were able to get local actors, not the Hollywierdos. I hope it will eventually come out on DVD for sale, and not just for rental and streaming. In fact, my husband and I were married on the 13th of October, the day commemorating the "Miracle of the Sun," @ Fatima; my younger sister and her husband married on May 13th, the feast of Our Lady of Fatima. Who knew?!!

Yeah, I don't think I've heard of any evil consequences of that "demonic" visit, #9. Do tell.

The Miracle of the Sun which happened, as predicted by the Blessed Mother, on October 13, 1917 in Fatima, Portugal was viewed by 70,000 people. Most of the people who saw it were poor peasants who got to the site by walking. The story of the Miracle was published in the local newspapers and can be called up and read once again. Most of the journalists who covered the story were non-believers and expected it to be a hoax. It wasn't No demons involved. Research it. You will find it was truly a Miracle.
