Former White House physician Ronny Jackson is likely a deep-red Texas congressional district's next representative after winning the Republican nomination. Jackson beat longtime Republican staffer Josh Winegarner, with 56% of the vote and 66,000 votes counted in their primary runoff for Texas's 13th Congressional District. The district covers Texas's panhandle and part of the state's north. Republican Rep. Mac Thornberry, the top GOP lawmaker on the House Armed Services Committee, has been the incumbent since 1995. He announced last September he wouldn't seek a 14th term in office.Jackson and Winegarner's race was a bare-knuckled contest after a 15-way primary.

The charge of murder brought against Garrett Rolfe, the Atlanta police officer who shot and killed Rayshard Brooks, seemed dubious the moment it was filed. On examination, it became clear that the prosecution is outrageous.
The D.A., Paul Howard, Jr., brought charges before the Georgia Bureau of Investigation completed its investigation. And, as Andy McCarthy has shown, Howard’s felony murder theory is ludicrous on the facts of this case.
The prosecution also appears to be politically motivated, and not just as an attempt to appease a mob. Howard is running for reelection. Reportedly, he was trailing in the polls, weighed down by allegations of sexual harassment and corruption.

After a blissful period of relative silence, “cancel culture” discourse has returned with a vengeance. The old debate was reignited by a now-infamous letter published by Harper’s Magazine, which proposed that professors, editors, writers and others, are in danger of being silenced by … somebody. The most striking thing about the letter is its hazy ambiguity; the letter doesn’t cite a single specific example, only vague allusions to events that the reader may, or may not, be aware of. It doesn’t say who, exactly, is being silenced, or which opinions are being silenced. It doesn’t say who is doing the silencing, but implies that social media might have

The recent letter “on justice and open debate,” published in Harper’s magazine on July 7 and signed by some 150 self-nominated intellectuals, will stand as one of the conspicuous fatuities of this intense American election year.
The intellectuals begin with the portentous assertion that “Our cultural institutions are facing a moment of trial.” It is then explained that forces that have all long demanded “police reform and greater equality and inclusion across our society,” goals whose championship these signatories claim throughout for themselves, are now being threatened. They have “intensified a new set of moral attitudes and political commitments that tend to weaken our norms of open debate and toleration of

The Democrat Party’s presidential primary marked a significant shift, as socialist ideas – openly embraced by the likes of Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) — took center stage, bringing the far-left’s radical agenda to the mainstream party.
Progressive leaders worked overtime to remove the taboo around the word “socialism” and fundamentally altered the Democratic Party’s future – a future they hope to impose on the nation as a whole, as Breitbart News senior editor-at-large Joel B. Pollak details in his upcoming book, RED NOVEMBER.
The book is based on Pollak’s own experiences covering the Democratic Party presidential primary on the campaign trail.

American Airlines has reached out to Senator Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) office after a photo began circulating online of the senator apparently not wearing a mask on one of its flights, according to The Hill. The airline, which requires that all passengers keep masks on for the entirety of their flight duration, said that “we have reached out to Sen. Cruz to affirm the importance of this policy as part of our commitment to protecting the health and safety of the traveling public.”The statement came after a radical Democratic campaign operative tweeted a photo without a mask on. The senator’s office responded with a statement explaining that Cruz had

Ghislaine Maxwell is set to be arraigned Tuesday on charges she conspired with Jeffrey Epstein to sexually abuse girls more than two decades ago — and will also learn whether she’ll be sprung from jail pending the outcome of her trial.
Manhattan federal Judge Alison Nathan will decide whether to set bail for the British socialite or leave her locked up in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Prosecutors want Maxwell, 58, remanded, calling her an “extreme” flight risk with more than $20 million in the bank and three passports.

When China is your master, nobody cares if you stand or kneel or thumb your nose at the U.S. flag, but you'd better not cross the Chinese one.
Tha't's the ugly picture regarding the China-coopted National Basketball Association (NBA) and its personalized t-shirt sales operation, where Chicom censorship is alive and well.
Turns out you can personalize your t-shirt to say all kinds of ugly things - but not FreeHongKong. Someone programmed that if/else exception in, preventing any freedom lover from printing that reminder of China's broken treaty destruction of Hong Kong onto their personalized t-shirt.

Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) — the controversial COVID-19 treatment touted by President Donald Trump — might be gaining new traction in the fight against the Wuhan coronavirus.
The latest positive results come from Vadodara, India, where city officials have conducted a major study involving more than 300,000 people, including “health workers and other frontline staff.” Local health official Dr. Devesh Patel told the paper, “It has shown positive results. We have the numbers and not one person has complained of complications. Here is a half-minute of pure political pleasure for conservatives – and parents of school age children. With many European countries already re-opening schools, and with science(!) telling us that otherwise healthy children almost ever get or transmit the COVID-19 virus, it really isn’t surprising that all 6 pediatricians on the video panel enthusiastically endorsed re-opening the schools and sending their own children to them.
But it pretty clearly came as a shock to the MSNBC host.

If only the rest of the country could handle COVID as well as New York: That’s the lament of progressive commentators as COVID cases spike in the Sun Belt and the South.
Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin hailed New York City the other day after it reported no deaths for the first time during the pandemic. This is what competent government can accomplish, she gushed.
Former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett tweeted, “Short term sacrifice saves lives!!!Neera Tanden, the head of the progressive think tank the Center for American Progress, contrasted the response in Democratic states to that in Republican states: “It turns out we were lucky that this virus hit in blue

New York's polls closed nearly three weeks ago. But many candidates still don't know whether they've won -- because New York City is still counting ballots that arrived in the mail. These votes would be an afterthought in most years. In fact, in New York, which is typically far more reliant on in-person voting, state law requires a weeklong delay before counting absentee ballots. But this year, amid widespread worries of COVID-19 spreading at polling places, the number of mail-in ballots is surging far faster than states' ability to count them. Elections experts are increasingly convinced that this surge, and the

It’s been over 11 years since I stepped into my mother’s kitchen back on Long Island, but it all came flooding back the other day when I pulled out her small, olive green metal recipe box.
Our kitchen was off the living room at the back of the first floor. Standing at the kitchen sink, you could look over the backyard, to the rusty basketball hoop on the garage roof and our baseball field just over the forsythia bushes. My mom called us from that spot countless times. I wish I had a picture of her standing watch at that window, but it’s probably best remembered in my mind.

Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo is facing intense backlash for selling a poster touting New York's response to the coronavirus outbreak.
On Monday, Cuomo debuted a poster he designed called "New York Tough" that he suggests captures the journey his state went through while addressing the pandemic.
"I love history. I love poster art. Poster art is something they did in the early 1900s, late 1800s, when they had to communicate their whole platform on one piece of paper," Cuomo stated. "Over the past few years I’ve done my own posters that capture that feeling. I did a new one for what we went through with COVID

Former Vice President Joe Biden seems quite content to run for the presidency from the depths of his home basement. Maybe that’s not so surprising, given recent indications that he no longer actually controls his presidential campaign.
Sadly, even with the help of a Teleprompter, Biden seems incapable of speaking these days without losing track, going wildly astray and muttering nonsense as he tosses one word salad after another.
Two recent examples stand out.

In 1985, Michelle Obama presented her senior thesis in the sociology department of Princeton University. Although Michelle drew no such conclusion, the thesis is a stunning indictment of affirmative action. Those who benefited from it, Michelle most notably, may never recover from its sting.
Her thesis reads like a cry for help. "I have found that at Princeton no matter how matter how liberal and open-minded some of my white professors and classmates try to be toward me," she writes, "I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as I really don't belong." She didn't.

The Chinese government’s expansive claims to own most of the South China Sea are illegal under international law, the Trump administration said Monday as it ramped up U.S. efforts to undermine Beijing’s increasingly militarized activities in the strategic waterway.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Washington is committed to standing beside allies across Asia to counter China, which has triggered regional tensions for more than a decade with assertions of sovereignty over most of the resource-rich South China Sea.
“We are making clear: Beijing’s claims to offshore resources across most of the South China Sea are completely unlawful, as is its campaign of bullying to control them,” Mr. Pompeo said

Pretend for a moment that you are a journalist with a strong leaning in favor of progressivism and the Democratic Party, and you wish to make the argument that Democratic governors are doing a great job of mitigating the spread of the coronavirus.
If you use the measuring stick of fewest cases per million residents, Hawaii ranks first, as of this writing. Then Montana and Alaska, and Vermont ranks fourth. (While most people would consider Montana a red state, governor Steve Bullock is a Democrat; while most think of Vermont a blue state, governor Phil Scott is a Republican.) Maine ranks sixth, Oregon ranks seventh, and Kentucky

The left-wing charge that America is a racist country is the greatest national libel since the Blood Libel against the Jews. America is, in fact, the least racist multiracial, multiethnic country in world history.
Neither the claim that America is a racist society nor the claim that it is the least racist country can be empirically proven. Both are assessments. But honest people do need to provide arguments for their position. I have found every argument that America is racist, let alone “systemically” racist, wanting. For example, the police almost never kill unarmed blacks, and on the rare occasions they do

If the President goes ahead and pardons General Michael Flynn — as the Wall Street Journal, in an editorial scoop, is suggesting this morning — would the United States District Court for the District of Columbia accept it? Or would Judge Emmet Sullivan proceed to try to sentence and even jail the general, despite the pardon? Those will sound like fantastic questions only if one hasn’t been following this astounding case.
That’s because the showdown over General Flynn has become a fight over what in law is called the “presumption of regularity.” It is a deference that is supposed to be accorded to government agencies.

During a recent fundraiser, former Vice President Joe Biden announced that his campaign had recruited an army of 600 attorneys to prepare for expected legal battles pursuant to the upcoming election. Biden says he needs all these lawyers to fend off “voter suppression,” which he defines as any opposition by the Trump campaign to Democratic calls for a dramatic expansion of mail-in voting. The president believes that such a precipitous change in our electoral process will create chaos and encourage election fraud. He’s right. “Experts” insist that fraud is rare. In fact, it is quite common, and mail-in voting exacerbates the problem.

Remember the Hillary Clinton campaign ad that talked about when the phone rings at 3:00 a.m. in the White House? I looked it up and was reminded that it was part of her 2008 primary campaign against Barack Obama. (Snip for video) On Saturday, the White House released an ad on Twitter–but I’m not sure it is an official ad, since it doesn’t carry the “I’m Donald Trump…” at the end–that begins by copying the introduction to Hillary’s ad, and then takes on Joe Biden’s senescence point-blank:

Last month, President Trump took action to defend US servicemen and women from an illegitimate investigation by the International Criminal Court into their conduct in Afghanistan. The ICC’s efforts are unfounded and mock justice.
First and foremost, the United States did not ratify the 1998 Rome Statute that founded the ICC. Successive administrations have stood by that decision and, as a result, American citizens are not subject to ICC jurisdiction.

Back on April 7th, Wisconsin held the first in-person primary election since the pandemic outbreak began. Well, it was at least partially “in-person” but the state attempted at the last minute to turn it into some sort of hybrid, combining a smaller number of in-person polling places with the option to request mail-in ballots. And the results were predictably chaotic. There was confusion regarding where and how to vote and the massive increase in mail-in voting meant the results were delayed far longer than normal. In short, it was a mess.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's claim that school reopenings present the "biggest risk for the spread of the coronavirus" is "completely wrong" and "contrary to all the science," Dr. Scott Atlas told "The Story" Monday.
"I'm not sure how many times it has to be said, but the risk of children from this disease and the fatality is nearly zero," Atlas, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution and former chief of neurology at Stanford University Medical Center, told host Martha MacCallum. "The risk of children for a significant illness is far less from the seasonal flu. This is totally antithetical to the data."

It’s difficult to grasp the amount of collective suffering, anxiety, and fear experienced by Americans in the past few months as the coronavirus made its deadly way through cities like New York. States shuttered schools and announced that families had to isolate indefinitely at home. Forty million filed for unemployment. The news media were filled with mixed messages from public-health professionals and politicians—you don’t need to wear a mask, you must wear a mask—sowing confusion among Americans who were desperate for guidance and leadership. By the end of May, more than 100,000 people had died.

On the heels of the Washington Redskins retiring its name and mascot amid pressure from critics and corporate sponsors, an op-ed written by Attiah made the case that "to know the full history of the Texas Rangers is to understand that the team’s name is not so far off from being called the Texas Klansmen."
Growing up in Dallas, Attiah recalled going to Rangers games with her father as a child, but not realizing at the time that the Rangers "were a cruel, racist force when it came to the nonwhites

More than two dozen shootings across New York City over the weekend left a one-year-old dead and at least 34 others injured, some potentially fatally, dwarfing the number of people killed there by the coronavirus during the same period. It appears that over the weekend, particularly that fateful Saturday that left the one-year-old dead, NYC residents had a higher chance of getting shot than dying from coronavirus. While NYC has largely tamed the lethal and highly contagious coronavirus, another epidemic is starting to rear its ugly head in the city once again — violent crimes.

Even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is not safe from the “cancelation” mobs, it turns out, as she discovered this weekend when she became the target of a progressive effort to oust her from her long-held seat in the House of Representatives.
Pelosi is the target of an attack from the left and will face Shahid Buttar in the general election in November. Buttar is, like many left-leaning insurgent candidates, a Democratic socialist with, as Townhall notes, a resume of progressive bona fides, including several trips to Burning Man, and plenty of “socially conscious music” and poetry available for free on SoundCloud.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has reportedly expanded its criminal investigation into Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard as new questions emerge about the grand jury subpoenas Howard’s office issued in the case involving the death of Rayshard Brooks.
Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr has asked the GBI to expand the scope of its current investigation regarding Howard after Carr learned about subpoenas Howard’s office issued regarding Officer Garrett Rolfe and the use of force against Brooks, whom Rolfe shot after he resisted arrest and fired a taser at him during a DUI arrest.
Howard issued grand jury subpoenas directing the Atlanta Police Department to turn over its “open investigation
