While it appeared former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions might have had a late surge in his Republican primary runoff contest against former Auburn University head football coach Tommy Tuberville, it was not nearly enough.Sessions was defeated by a wide margin on Tuesday and has officially been eliminated from regaining the seat he held for two decades in the U.S. Senate. With more than 70% reporting, Tuberville had a 24-point lead over Sessions and will face incumbent Sen. Doug Jones (R-AL) on November 3 in the general election.

Sessions was an establishment player, and no person that was in DC as long as him is a nice guy. Sessions campaigned very hard to get the AG job. Begging Trump for it. Why? I think he and McConnell wanted him there all along to do just what Sessions did, cover it all up---but the truth has a way of floating to the surface. I think there is more to Session's motivations than he has revealed, and McConnell knows all about it. No one has ever questioned them. Why not? I am glad Sessions has been sent back home. He betrayed Trump, and all of Trump's supporters, putting the nation through 3 years of hell. Sessions should be in jail for it.

The Coward Keebler Elf had to be kept out of the Senate in case of another impeachment attempt.

How many U of Alabama fans will vote for Tuberville? There's not a lot of Kumbaya between the Crimson Tide and War Eagle.

Jeff Sessions may be the classic example of the Peter Principle at work. He was completely blindsided at Attorney General, agreeing to recuse himself from the most significant issue facing his office and the country, and handing all responsibility over to the shifty, underhanded, criminal Rod Rosenstein. Sessions never saw it coming. He acted like he was still sitting as a judge in federal district court for Alabama--but he was floating on an air mattress in a tank of bloodthirsty sharks.

Good.
Sessions as former AG played into the hands of the Deep State traitors by recusing himself during the initial stages of the Russian hoax, rather than exercising the judgment and leadership to nip that outright fraud in the bud.

Trump backed the coach. Jeff needs to get a golf cart and a new set of clubs and hit the putting green. Fade away quietly and be graceful about it. You had your day in the sun but its way past sunset for you. Time to jit the pastures and enjoy the rest of you life as a civilian in retirement.

I know a politician who worked with Sessions some, and I asked "What the heck is wrong with Sessions?" when Sessions was AG. My friend said he couldn't figure it out in a couple of meetings but that it looked like his staffers might controlling him, but that it was impossible to be certain from a few business meetings.
I would like to know if Sessions is just a Ted Baxter type and got rolled, or a back stabbing Deep Stater who decided that he would do better to screw over Trump than fight alongside him. Hard to say. Sessions was a good Senator for a long time, but as no-account and useless an AG as we have ever had.

All those years in office and all anybody will remember is he didn't tell the President he was going to recuse himself while begging for the job. Something isn't right with this picture. Can we see his bank account?

Jeff Sessions won't get out his golf clubs and go away. In his concession speech he said he would campaign for Tommy Tuberville so he can promote the Trump agenda and send Doug Jones packing. That shows more class than is shown by the people taking pot shots at the first senator to endorse Donald Trump in 2016. I've never understood the propensity of the right to shoot their own. It needs to stop. The Democrats are the enemy, not the imperfect people on our side.

Being a Senator is a talking job. Being Attorney General is a doing job. Sessions was a good talker, not a doer. There is no big mystery here.

One wonders if Sessions could still be useful. He is conservative and a former Federal Judge. Might Trump nominate him for a Federal judgeship? Might not hurt to have a conservative judge that has been screwed by the establishment on the bench
