A man who was recorded on cell phone video arguing with another customer about shopping without a mask in a Florida Costco claims he was doxxed and received death threats after the clip went viral on social media. He subsequently lost his job at a local insurance company. In the brief video (embedded below) during which he objects to being filmed, the man yells to the other customer behind the cell phone that “You’re harassing me. I feel threatened. Back off,” along with some expletives.Viral is an ironic term these days, but the clip has logged 12 million views on Twitter plus thousands more on YouTube and other platforms.

Unwelcome videos by phone should be considered the same as either assault or invasion of privacy, subject to civil action.

I totally understand how the man feels. Being claustrophobic it’s extremely hard to wear a mask. If everyone else is wearing a mask then what’s the problem. We are told the masks work. Some has to explain medical reasons for not wearing one.

Why would his company fire him? That is totally unreasonable.

Choice has consequences. He broke the store policy. He refused to comply and made a scene. He got videotaped and kicked out. End of story. Somebody in COSTCO probably released his membership address thinking he deserved to be exposed. That somebody should be terminated ASAP and prosecuted.

Masks are a crock, but I'll wear one to avoid being accosted and possibly punching someone in the mouth, or her husband.

I have allergy induced asthma. Wearing a mask is terrifying for me as I can feel the o2 levels fall in my system and I breathe harder and harder with no luck. I finally have to drop the mask down from my nose to keep from passing out!

Masks have become virtue signaling, I refer them as MASKHOLES! From someone who has COPD I can't wear one and that's fine with my company.

What self-serving drivel! You, Mr. Todd are a jerk. You fire a guy for not wearing a mask. He didn't start the fight, some Karen did. All he did was tell her to back away.
I plan to write Allstate and object to your firing an employee over a useless mask. You shouldn't be an agent, you have NO moral courage to stand up to the mob.

If you've had and recovered from the China created virus you shouldn't need to wear a mask.

I’m old enough to remember the concept of “newsworthy” — things were on The News because they were important. Now things are important because they are on The News. The News is Big Business, it doesn’t exist to inform or educate, it only exists to make money.
Everyone’s making a buck from this poor guy — The News, Twitter/Facebook/Instagram, and the guy filming the encounter. The only one not making money is the actor, the poor schlub having a bad 30 seconds at Costco. And those 30 seconds last forever on the internet. Not only is he’s squeezed out of the profit flow, he’s lost his livelihood.
Every human being should own the rights to their own face, body, image, likeness, and voice. Whether that comes in the form of copyright or trademark, I don’t know. Granted, we are all out in public places, but no one should be allowed to make money from filming us without our permission. The only way to stop this nonsense is stop the profiteering. Sue!

I drove 15 extra miles today to shop without having to fight the mask crazies.
Next state, one county south people still live and shop free. And Wendy's had sit down dining.

In a store being videoed by these crazies?
Go over to the Vaseline aisle, get a big blob of it on your finger and wipe it on the their camera lens.
Done.

I have the same issue, poster 7, but that is not the main reason I refuse to wear a mask. The man may have broken Costco's rule, but it wasn't the two nanny tattletales' business to film him and post him all over the internet without his consent. They harassed this man who was minding his business. It wasn't like he told them how stupid they looked with their masks on or anything. They invaded his space. They should have reported him to Costco's management and let them handle it. If this happens to you, call for management or security and threaten to sue everybody and see how they back down. Tell the filmmakers if you find their video online, they'll hear from your lawyer. Does anyone remember when leftists insisted on being free and doing their thing? Why are they such virtue signalers now? Virtue signalers with no virtue or moral foundation.

#16, I broke Walmart's rule and the KS Governor's rule, and I do it every day. But to avoid the hassle, I went to a different Walmart, across the state line and one county south (15 miles extra) to return a battery core and buy another battery. Heat seems to be killing my old machinery batteries. In any case, video me all you want folks, I don't care, and I'm retired, and you can't get me fired, can't embarrass me at all.

The guy took off his mask because he felt claustrophobic. But then he said “I remember someone saying something to me about ‘I have cancer, I have cancer.’ I replied, ‘Well my father died of cancer.’. I didn’t understand why she was yelling at me about that.”
So he doesn't understand why someone with a compromised immune system is worried about COVID exposure, but he does understand his own discomfort. Seems pretty selfish to me.
If you're unwilling to wear a mask, you can order Costco delivery. The cancer lady could have done the same thing, and probably should have, rather than getting all worked up about this one scofflaw.
