Pretend for a moment that you are a journalist with a strong leaning in favor of progressivism and the Democratic Party, and you wish to make the argument that Democratic governors are doing a great job of mitigating the spread of the coronavirus.
If you use the measuring stick of fewest cases per million residents, Hawaii ranks first, as of this writing. Then Montana and Alaska, and Vermont ranks fourth. (While most people would consider Montana a red state, governor Steve Bullock is a Democrat; while most think of Vermont a blue state, governor Phil Scott is a Republican.) Maine ranks sixth, Oregon ranks seventh, and Kentucky

When watching "the news" I never saw reports of BLM marches and peaceful protest riots in HI, ME, MT, AK, or VT. Also, I do not believe public transportation is big (public) business in these states. Again, this is why the Feds leave it up to the states to decide how to address these types of issues. What is good for densely populated states and locales, is not what is good for less populated areas. Let's face it, until herd immunity is achieved, the virus is out there and will eventually infect most people. Perhaps these states have been better at flattening the curve, but I do not believe they have escaped.

I've long thought the virus was active before it exploded onto the news. I have met too many people who had symptoms from November-January and I am one of them, my own doctor is another.

The Governors are not doing anything but shredding the constitution with unconstitutional emergency powers that they have no plans to end. The virus cannot be stopped by politicians, or virus doctors. If it could, it would not have spread to every country in the world. Neither the politicians, or the doctors have a clue, cannot answer any basic question with anything other than they just don't know. We know you don't know, so quit ruling like you do. 17th century solutions, like social distancing and masks are accomplishing nothing. Hearing governors, county judges, mayors, sheriffs, and police chiefs spout medical prescriptions is ludicrous, as they are ignorant of medicine, the constitution, and the limits of their duties.

"biased in favor of big-state, better-known Democratic governors"
Duh! This is because dems are desperately searching for a spokesperson for the party. Governors that already have name recognition are an easier sell. Governor's that present on camera well are even better. However, that's where they stop. The Left's whole presence is IMAGE and NAME RECOGNITION. Their essence is a Broadway stage production. When was the last time that dems actually FUNCTIONED well? They are all hat and no cattle.
Is it such a surprise that media are only interested in image? It also illuminates the media's influence on the party that the party is now a media presentation. When Biden called BO "clean" he slipped but presented an essential truth about the dems; you must present nicely; significantly because the media wants to present a "star".

Re #3 - I heard last week on the Maria Bartiromo show one of the Federal Reserves Governors talk about how people have to keep wearing masks, social distance, etc to help this economy recover and stop the spread of COVID-19. Since when does the Federal Reserve issue medical guidance?
I rode the DC/MD/VA metro system for almost 25 years and in all those years through all four seasons and whatever flu, etc was out there. Not one PSA from the CDC or any other government agency about slowing/stopping the spread of respiratory illnesses. Nothing while packed in train cars with people coughing, sneezing, etc and many of the passengers having just flown into this country from overseas.
We the People are being screwed by our own government.

Remember how Obama handled the swine flu? Obama found a mic at a podium in his deep, whistling, drone voice declared victory then went golfing. Elect a democrat/progressive in 2020 and the virus will disappear like riots by BLM.
This a perpetual hoax that will last until November and continue in next year if President Trump is re-elected it's a 'political flu'.

PLEASE don't praise out idiot governor Laura Kelly (KS). She has done nothing good of note, IMO. Her recent "mask order" is pure political theater, with our death rate very low and flat, not needed, just a bended knee to the fascists in charge.
The biggest reason that the state has low problems is that we don't have ANY subways, very, very few public buses, and people aren't jammed together much at all. Only the illegals in the western states which work in the big meat packing factories had a run of the disease, strictly contained in those few western KS counties which have these big "illegal alien magnets" in them. The counties stand out like beacons on any color coded map of cases in the state. Sparsely populated counties with lots of cases - unlike any of the normal counties without these illegals, living 5 and 10 men to a single family home....also illegal, of course.
