George Floyd tested positive for coronavirus after he died, according to a Hennepin County autopsy report.
The report says Floyd, 44, had first tested positive for COVID-19 back on April 3 and that traces of the virus “can persist for weeks after the onset and resolution of clinical disease.” The virus in Floyd, the report says, was “asymptomatic but persistent,” leading to the positive postmortem test.
Gov. Tim Walz signed an executive order on Wednesday to activate the Minnesota National Guard in Clay County and surrounding areas to provide safety and protection during demonstrations planned in North Dakota in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
“The Minnesota National Guard stands ready to provide protection for all Minnesotans,” said Walz.

The FBI has joined the investigation into the ambush on a police officer with a knife in Brooklyn. The officer was on an anti-looting patrol Wednesday in Flatbush when a man walked up behind him and stabbed him in the neck, police said, setting off a struggle in which the assailant was shot and two other officers suffered gunshot injuries to their hands. Back in mid-March, Regal Theaters announced they would be closing down operations because of the coronavirus and I was worried that it could be the end for some chains. Today, AMC Theaters, the nation’s largest chain announced that it might not survive if shutdowns continue for much longer.
All of AMC’s theaters are shut down through June, which means the company isn’t generating any revenue. AMC said it had enough cash to reopen its theaters this summer, as it plans to do. But if it’s not allowed to reopen, it will need more money, which it may not be able to borrow.

Two police officers were shot and a third was stabbed in a confrontation with a suspect in Brooklyn late Wednesday night, police and sources said. The melee unfolded when a suspect approached a cop on Church Avenue near Flatbush Avenue at about 11:45 p.m. and stabbed him in the neck, a police source said.
