Wednesday on MSNBC, Washington Post columnist George Will predicted President Donald Trump would lose in 2020, and that voters will forget him “fairly fast.” Host Joy Reid asked, “If Republican voters listen to you and say it’s time to say no, let’s get rid of every single Republican in the Senate that they are capable of voting out, what will happen to the Republican Party? Do you foresee a time when Republicans develop amnesia about having been so solicitous of Donald Trump? What happened to that party long term?” Will said, “I’m fairly confident that Mr. Trump will be defeated in the election. The next morning, a lot of Republicans will say,

Does George lament the targeting, under ZERO evidence, of a presidential candidate, then a president-elect, and later a President of the United States? Does he think that should just all "go away"? If the Trump campaign can ensure they splash all of the information about how he was falsely targeted, and everyone involved has stated under oath, they didn't have any proof or evidence, I think he will sway a lot of people. If they can, with empathy, compare this to how many people have also been falsely targeted, accused and convicted, without any evidence, he can sway more people. (I refer to Archie Williams who was convicted of a rape and spent 37 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit based on DNA evidence). If the campaign can also point out how it's also the prosecutors, the judges, and politicians who've either condoned, accepted, or rationalized the unjust harassment, with many capitalizing on it professionally. Trump should demand, and fund, thousands of cases to be re-examined. I'm sure the innocence project has a large cache of cases they could recommend for review.

Will used to be one of the few in media who actually looked at history before opening his mouth. Well, try looking at the 1968 riots George and the aftermath. The idiots who started this rioting made the huge mistake of going after black targets this time, and I suspect they are going to be regretting that in the fall.

If Trump loses it will probably be through cheating. But the voters will forget the GOP long before Trump. If Trump loses then both houses in 2023 will be heavily Democrat as Republicans will have given up on the system. Despite the left’s recent efforts to paint Trump as a racist and blame him for police brutality and the riots, Rasmussen Reports says that approval for President Trump amongst likely black voters is now over 40 percent. [Tweet] Trump received 8 percent of the African American vote in 2016. In August 2019, black voter approval for Trump stood at 26 percent. I am admittedly skeptical of Rasmussens 40 percent approval number, nevertheless, the increase of 14 points from a year ago suggests that Trump’s support from within the black community is increasing, despite the best efforts of the Democrats and the media to paint him as a racist.

Once again, President Donald Trump is being scapegoated for societal problems that he didn’t cause. He didn’t bring the coronavirus to our shores, and he has not created an atmosphere of racial disharmony in this country. Is there anything Trump’s haters won’t blame on him? They’ve been trying to remove him since before he was sworn in, and every time they fail, they find another excuse — from the Russia-collusion hoax to Ukraine to the coronavirus to economic hardship from the shutdown to the murder of George Floyd to the subsequent mayhem in our cities. Trump roundly condemned George Floyd’s murder shortly after it occurred, but that wasn’t enough.

Trump himself might not have been expecting such success so soon. He had been predicting a “transition to greatness” as federal relief spending and reopening from the coronavirus-induced shutdowns pulled the economy out of a Depression-like stupor into a strong fourth quarter

Minneapolis City Council members are expected to hold an emergency meeting Friday to vote on some of the first changes to the city’s police department following the death of George Floyd, with some of the council’s members vowing to “dismantle” the police department, according to the Star Tribune. The council is working with the state’s Department of Human Rights on a stipulated restraining order that would require some immediate changes to the police department. The order would also set up a timeline for an investigation into whether the police department participated in racial discrimination over the last 10 years.

And school leaders in Minneapolis and Portland, Ore., have already taken that step.(Snip) The public school board in Minneapolis voted unanimously to terminate its contract with the city’s police department on Tuesday in response to Floyd’s death. “I firmly believe that it is completely unnatural to have police in schools,” school board member Kimberly Caprini said during the meeting, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The Minneapolis mayor is asking for federal help cleaning up and rebuilding his city after rioters caused at least $55 million worth of damage through looting, burning, and defacing public and private property. That cost estimate is likely to increase in the coming days as government officials continue to tally the damage done in the wake of George Floyd’s death, Mayor Jacob Frey said according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and the state’s congressional delegation are also pushing the Trump administration and Congress for funding. On Tuesday, city officials released an initial estimate of $55 million in damage done to at least 220 buildings.

Mr. President, you’ve taken step one: Declaring Antifa a domestic terrorist organization. That was a brilliant move. Now it’s time for step number two: Cut the head off the snake. We’ve got to move to aggressively cut off the funding of domestic terrorism. Those who provide funding are terrorists themselves. Who is providing the funding? There are many suspects. Suspect number one is globalist billionaire George Soros and his Open Society Foundation. It starts there. Is Soros guilty? That’s way above my pay grade. That’s why we need a global investigation. And indictments and a trial.

Chicago—It was bad before and it’s even worse now. Food deserts in some South Side communities have even fewer choices for groceries after the weekend’s violence. CBS 2’s Marissa Parra has more from Bronzeville with a look at how it’s impacting the community. For neighbors, the Jewel-Osco on 75th is the grocery store. But no longer.(Snip) On Sunday night, it was ravaged by looters, as you can see by the aftermath captured in video from the next day, leaving neighbors frustrated. “It’s not what you do. California’s Legislature now has a pandemic-battered budget plan: Pray, wait and hope for the best. More seriously, Democratic leaders want to postpone the pain carried in Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed spending cuts to meet a looming $54.3 billion shortfall. Both the governor and his counterparts in the Legislature know the depth of the problem: a crashing economy, rising jobless and health bills, and no end in sight for the coronavirus threat. Both are leaning on the thin wish that more federal stimulus money will ride to the rescue though that brewing bailout is stalled in Washington. Thank the Republicans in the Senate for refusing

I’ve been thinking that the US is in a May 1968 moment, but that’s probably too optimistic. A reader who is a prominent Washingtonian (he identified himself, and I verified it; I’m not using his name to protect him) wrote this morning to say that he and a number of people he know are leaving the city for good in the wake of this past week’s violence. He writes, and I quote with his permission: I’m out.
