Federal agents raided an infamous open-air drug market in Los Angeles, California, Wednesday and seized a massive amount of fentanyl at the residence of one of the arrested individuals.
“Today, we begin reclaiming MacArthur Park from criminals and drug addicts to return this public space to the citizens of Los Angeles,” First Assistant United States Attorney Bill Essayli said in a statement.
“Together with our federal and local law enforcement partners, we are executing multiple arrest and search warrants targeting those who are distributing drugs in and around the park. Formally known as “Operation Free MacArthur Park,” the project led to the arrests of 18 people

The Biden administration's Food and Drug Administration marginalized a "safety data mining developer" whose updated methodology for COVID-19 vaccine safety surveillance found about 25 "statistically significant safety signals for adverse events" that the FDA's default methodology missed as early as March 2021, a congressional investigation says. [snip] Senior medical officer Ana Szarfman repeatedly showed top officials the proliferation of adverse events including death following COVID vaccination she "unmasked" in the FDA's system, using a new method she developed with the "inventor of the data mining algorithm" supporting the FDA's current system, the report said.

Families hoping to make memories on a cruise were unknowingly surrounded by alleged child predators working aboard the ships, according to law enforcement officials.
US Customs and Border Protection boarded five cruise ships, including a Disney cruise docked in San Diego, between April 23 and 25 as part of ongoing child sexual exploitation material (CSEM) enforcement operations, a CBP spokesperson told The California Post.“After boarding the vessels and interviewing 26 suspected crew members from the Philippines, one suspected crew member from Portugal, and one from Indonesia, [snip] several immigration rights groups were up in arms about the Disney arrests, and also claimed four “seafarers” were arrested on the Holland America

An ex-FBI agent turned provocative podcaster was kicked out of the bureau after he "intentionally" discharged his weapon in an "unsafe manner" on a training range while his instructor was in the line of fire, according to the bureau's incident report obtained by Just the News and congressional testimony that challenges his self-portrayal as a whistleblower who faced retaliation.

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch — backed by the NYPD rank and file — deserves all the credit for New York City’s continued crime drop.
Every law-abiding New Yorker should applaud her for achieving new lows in major crime — with murders hitting an all-time low in April.
The city saw just 19 homicides last month, beating the record of 21 set in 2014 and 2017; year-to-date in 2026 it’s just 76 murders, besting the prior low for the first four months of 86, set in 2018. Shootings, robberies, grand larceny-auto, burglaries and felony assaults all dropped from April 2025, too, though much crime remains above the 2019 level,

Nowadays, U.S. Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) isn’t much liked outside his district. He’s butted heads with President Trump, incurring the president’s wrath. Trump is trying to unseat him in the midterms. MAGA grassroots are with Trump, unsurprisingly. Fair enough, but setting aside personalities and squabbles, Massie deserves praise.
[snip]. He wanted to defund a Biden-era mandate requiring installation of AI-guided “advanced drunk and impaired driving prevention technology” in new cars and trucks, likely starting with 2027 models. Meaning, installing kill switches in vehicles so when the technology detects driver impairment -- or is so convinced -- it shuts off the vehicle’s engine.

The suspected hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius cruise ship, which has killed three people and sickened at least seven others, has two likely causes — and both are bad news for the 150 passengers on board, experts said.
The more likely scenario would be passengers contracting the virus from the feces, urine or saliva of infected rats or mice.
That’s the usual transmission vector, according to physician Zaid Fadul, a former Air Force flight surgeon — although the World Health Organization insisted Tuesday that no rodents have been found on the stranded liner. But there’s one strain of the hantavirus that has an alarming exception —

At least one person was killed and three were injured in a mass shooting at a post-prom party in Indianapolis early Sunday, cops said.
Police were called to a rental house on the city’s north side at around 3:30 a.m. to reports of gunfire, WTHR reported.
When officers arrived, they found one woman who was critically wounded. She was rushed to the hospital and later died of her injuries.
Cops later received reports of two more victims who had managed to walk into a nearby hospital for treatment. All four victims are believed to have been shot at the same property, a short-term rental where a post-prom party was being thrown.

For the past two years, New York and New Jersey infectious disease experts have been laser focused on prep and training for the upcoming FIFA World Cup games — with 1.2 million visitors from around the world set to watch 48 teams battle it out on the pitch.
Across the US, those numbers skyrocket to 6-7 million.
And with that massive influx of foreign visitors comes the threat of infectious — and sometimes deadly — diseases, including viral hemorrhagic fevers, RSV, tuberculosis, measles, varicella, hepatitis A, typhoid, malaria, SARS, hantavirus and even “high consequence” diseases with high mortality rates, like cholera and Ebola.

Biden administration officials may have sought to dodge public records laws and congressional oversight by classifying taxpayer-backed loans to Planned Parenthood as “Benghazi,” according to findings by Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa.
Ernst, chairwoman of the Senate Small Business Committee, has been investigating Small Business Administration loans to the nation’s largest abortion provider under the Paycheck Protection Program during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a letter sent Monday to acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, Ernst asked for a Justice Department investigation “for potential Federal Records Act violation by concealment and/or attempted concealment” of SBA records regarding loans to Planned Parenthood and loan forgiveness.

Are you ready for your car to decide if you’re fit to drive? If not, you’d better buckle up.
A federal mandate declares new vehicles must have in-car surveillance for 2027 models onward that can decide if a person is fit to drive and can make the car inoperable via a so-called “kill switch.”

Most new cars won’t make the determination via breathalyzer, but infrared cameras continually monitoring potential impairment cues.
They include pupil size, head movements, eye movements and various behaviors consistent with a driver being out of it.[snip]
