Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch — backed by the NYPD rank and file — deserves all the credit for New York City’s continued crime drop. Every law-abiding New Yorker should applaud her for achieving new lows in major crime — with murders hitting an all-time low in April. The city saw just 19 homicides last month, beating the record of 21 set in 2014 and 2017; year-to-date in 2026 it’s just 76 murders, besting the prior low for the first four months of 86, set in 2018. Shootings, robberies, grand larceny-auto, burglaries and felony assaults all dropped from April 2025, too, though much crime remains above the 2019 level,

Comments:

I wasn't born yesterday. This number sounds very bogus.. A previous mayor, David Dinkins had murders in the 4 figure range and didn't drop until Giuliani was elected. How can the numbers have dropped so low unless some is stirring the pot.
"In Dinkins’s four years, there were 8,340 murders, the highest four-year total ever. In the four years before he took office, there were 7,055 murders."

Obama stopped counting the unemployed if they stopped looking for a job. Hence the unemployment statistic went down. Liberal arithmetic.

The suspected hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius cruise ship, which has killed three people and sickened at least seven others, has two likely causes — and both are bad news for the 150 passengers on board, experts said. The more likely scenario would be passengers contracting the virus from the feces, urine or saliva of infected rats or mice. That’s the usual transmission vector, according to physician Zaid Fadul, a former Air Force flight surgeon — although the World Health Organization insisted Tuesday that no rodents have been found on the stranded liner. But there’s one strain of the hantavirus that has an alarming exception —
