The City Council wants to expand the Fair Fares program so more than 1 million eligible New Yorkers would be able to ride Big Apple subways and buses all on the government’s dime. The city-funded program reimburses the MTA for 50% of the fare — a cost those earning up to 150% of the federal poverty level aren’t required to pay out of pocket — which the council has proposed covering entirely in its city budget response. The council’s response does not detail how much it would need to fully cover those fares, but advocates at the Permanent Citizens Advisory

Is there anything that Mandami thinks that the residents of NYC should pay for? They expect the rest of the state to subsidize their idiocracy. The crazy communists running the city seem to forget that not everyone is as enamored with them and their ideas as they are.

Keep spending, Mamdani. When you run out of money and Kathy refuses to raise taxes, you will go hat in hand to DC and be told that your name is not on the list for access to the White House. The New York subway is fast becoming a homeless hangout on wheels. I hope the riders like being panhandled for their change. May want to wear a mask as well - and not because of COVID.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson drew fire from an unlikely colleague on Tuesday over her lone dissent in the Supreme Court’s 8-1 decision finding Colorado’s ban on so-called "conversion therapy" for minors violated free speech rights. Fellow liberal Justice Elena Kagan criticized Jackson for failing to acknowledge case law that governs when speech can be regulated in the medical field, marking a rare public break between two justices typically aligned in cases centered on high-profile cultural issues. "Justice Jackson’s dissenting opinion claims that this is a small, or even nonexistent, category," Kagan wrote in a footnote of a concurring opinion, which

A California gubernatorial debate was canceled just hours before it was set to occur on Tuesday after mounting criticism that only white candidates in the crowded field had qualified for the event. Gavin Newsom. The sprawling field includes eight prominent Democrats and two major Republicans, as well as several other lesser-known candidates. USC had faced condemnation for

In a development raising red flags across the Atlantic, Britain’s Labour government has appointed the UK’s first “anti-Muslim hostility tsar” and adopted a new definition of anti-Muslim hostility — reframed from “Islamophobia” — as part of its £4 million social cohesion strategy. The definition describes such hostility as “a type of racism” targeting “expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness,” including prejudicial stereotyping that could incite hatred. Officials claim it addresses record-high anti-Muslim hate crimes while protecting free speech. Critics, however, see it as a potential censorship tool that could limit scrutiny of Islamic extremism, grooming gangs, or integration challenges.

President Donald Trump on Friday proposed to begin privatizing airport security operations handled by the Transportation Security Administration, in an effort to save money. The White House budget proposes cutting funding for the federal agency created after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks by $52 million and would require small airports to enroll in a program in which TSA pays for private screeners. TSA has about 50,000 federal employees who handle screening at nearly all U.S. airports. Budget documents released on Friday said airports currently using the privatization program have demonstrated savings compared to federal screening operations. In recent weeks, major U.S. airports suffered massive disruptions after TSA security officers went unpaid since mid-February
