Dems were delighted to cancel a debate that spotlights their track record and gives any exposure to the 2 Republican candidates.

Steve Hilton was on Fox and said the debate was canceled because the Dems in Sacramento didn't want the exposure. And they were right. It should be mandatory - - obligatory - - for every American to vote for a Person Of Color. And that doesn't include voting for white people who have a suntan. That's not the kind of color we're talking about. No - - we're talking about real skin pigment - - the only necessary qualification to hold public office. The time is now - - let's pass skintone voting reform!

FTA: "For Tuesday’s debate, USC and KABC had invited the five candidates who have largely been atop public polls in the race — Democrats Porter, Steyer and Swalwell and Republicans Bianco and Hilton — as well as Mahan to participate. Mahan trails other candidates in most of those surveys, but as the mayor of Silicon Valley’s hub city, he has quickly amassed a formidable financial war chest after jumping into the race late in January."

President Donald Trump’s tariffs on imported goods suffered a Supreme Court legal rebuke in late February, but they’re not doing much better in the court of public opinion. As the latest I&I/TIPP shows, a plurality of voters don’t believe the economy will get a boost from tariffs, which win strong majority support only from Republicans. It was once the case that most conservatives and many moderates rejected tariffs on imported goods as an unwanted distortion of free trade. Meanwhile, liberals embraced tariffs as a welcome tool of government “industrial policy.” But President Trump has flipped the script.

About 1 million beneficiaries receive at least $50,000 annually — or more than $100,000 for a retired couple — representing less than 2% of the roughly 56 million people age 65 and older who get Social Security, according to an analysis by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.
