A New York appeals court Thursday threw out the massive $464 million judgment dealt to President Trump after he was found liable at a civil trial for business fraud.
The Appellate Division, First Department overturned the whopping fine in the case in which Trump, 78, was found to have fraudulently inflated his net worth by billions of dollars over a decade to get better loan and insurance terms.
Trump would have had to pay a total of more than $500 million, including more than $100 million in interest, had the February 2024 ruling from Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron been upheld.
The appeal court’s decision follows a theatric 11-week trial

When does he get the huge amount he already paid back? This was such a witch hunt.

Someone who knows the NY court system can correct me, but I believe that's it - there is no higher court in the state?

I once knew Engoron; we were in the same entering law school class, but he was a little older than the rest of us. Even then, it was obvious that he was a very strange individual. Corrupt, yet Messianic-complex. Not surprised he spent his career scuttling in the dark corners of jurisprudence. Hope there is administrative discipline, including disbarment, for this travesty.

The NY Post can go pound sand. There was never any evidence of fraud. He borrowed money and paid it back on time. Banks should be free to charge whatever they want for interest.
Sound like pure envy on that author's part. And the court agrees.

I too, was surprised at the Post's accounting of the details. Lenders always do their own evaluation of a property and they were satisfied with the worth. End of story.

Wish there was some journalism involved in this hit piece article. Thrown out, eh? Yet the article is all about out how fraudulent and evil Trump was. Why was it thrown out? What was the reason. As wonderful as Latita and Ergeron were, why is the fine thrown out? Be nice to know why. Guess we have to wait until a real journalism organization, QVC, publishes its article.

James and Engoron both elected Democrats who had an agenda to "get Trump".
Hardly sounds like they have the capacity to offer a fair and balanced trial based on their mission and goal.
Believe there is now information indicating the Biden WH coordinated with them.
Trump needs to point to these types of "trials" and prosecutions with a pointed message to the many who've complained about the justice system in most inner cities in this country.
He now knows how they truly feel - he can feel their pain.
Then push to have reforms. Set up a whole system to run all collected DNA materials. Make it a Manhattan style initiative to clear up the backlog. Help clear people where the DNA doesn't support the conviction.
Believe Trump can now sue them for malicious prosecution and violating his Rights.

Now make big Tish and the democrats personally pay for all expenses funded by taxpayers; they should also cover the interest (at the highest rate possible) on the already paid Trump money poster 1 referenced. That would be some pile on justice right there.

Overdue. Show me 464 million in damage. It cannot be done. Show me the evidence. There is none. This was all about twisting the law to get Trump. That is tyranny.

The case wasn't thrown out. The monetary fines were thrown out. All the rest of it stands. However. The case can now be reheard.
I think this was just the appeal on the fines. Appealing the conviction goes on.
Regardless, there is foaming democrat spittle in the air today.

That case never should have been permitted to happen. The legal arguments don't pass the laugh test. The whole case was a legal FRAUD. The persecutors (no typo) should be disbarred.

Tehre were and still are many "minor" aspects of the case that are misleading, he didn't get a loan from Deutche bank, he got a loan from an private investor fund, with a Deutche bank office/advisor. Millionaires and Billionaires who didn't get that way by NOT knowing the details of their investments. They chose rightly, got paid back with interest, and profit. Lets see the same scrutiny applied to Joe Bidens refinancing of his property 7 times in 12 years, what banks/individuals/investment groups were involved, did any have any business with Govt agencies, lobbyists, or anything Joe voted on, was involved with legislation on??.What were his rates and valuations? The investors with Trump testified in court that they didn't even need the filings, as soon as Trump gave his "Personal Guarantee", they jumped at the deal...and would do so again today...or tomorrow...or any time they get a chance to do a similar deal. Compare THAT to "I give you my word, as a Biden"

First it is good that it was tossed out , but it never should have happened.
Second Jmes should have to pay Trumps court cost and the cost of the bogus trial.

In a loan, the lender decides what a property is worth. What the owner thinks the property is worth doesn’t mean anything. This was just socialists trying to take down a capitalist.

FTA: Another judge, Justice David Friedman, said James didn’t have the authority to bring the case against Trump in the first place, noting the institutions that lent money to the president could have sued him if they felt aggrieved.

New York's hatred for one of their own sons has rankled the entire Business Sector they depend on so much for their economic livelihood. In other words, their hatred for one man damaged their image to the world as a place to do business. I predict that Wall Street will be a museum and quaint bodegas in 20 years and the new "financial center" of the USA will be in Dallas, TX, all initiated by this preposterous witch-hunt on citizen Donald Trump.

I don't know about you, but I don't think having a government that can lynch anybody anytime they feel like it, and get away with it is a bad idea. How could anybody be so stupid as to support a political party like that!

Poster #2 - - The Appellate Court is the lowest appeals court in NY State. Above that is the Supreme Court - - and above that is the Court of Appeals.
If the Appellate Court had ruled against President Trump - - he would have had two more levels of appeal within the state.

So...James and Engoron plotted together to attack President Trump's wealth and force him to quit....James smiled and taunted President Trump would lose Trump Towers....nice try James...you picked on the wrong guy...and now YOU face charges of mortgage fraud....let's see what you can come up with when you're fined...you were a toy for the slick lawyers behind the Oval Office drapes...like Weissmen and Obama...not that he's sharp...just evil....

this whole corrupt noo yawka schtick is a non-crime, which harmed nobody...
except pdt's constitutional rights from 1st to 8th, for starters.
all pdt's stolen money and phony fees should be returned.
why not go straight to the merits on big bed bug tish and little engorgoyle:
both of these water rats should be disbarred.
every dime they swindled and used for harm should create a compensation fund-
starting w/ america's mayor--rudy.
these monsters should get life sentences ,strapped together, with the howling banshees...
in ny's haunted dannemora bug house/clinton correctional facility.
