Serial pedophile to be surgically castrated
in American first law after raping seven-year-old girl

A serial pedophile has agreed to be castrated as part of a plea deal after he was caught trying to sexually assault a seven-year-old girl.  Thomas Allen McCartney, 37, is classified a 'Tier Three' offender and is considered one of Louisiana's worst child predators. McCartney has agreed to be both physically and chemically castrated as part of plea deal Tuesday in order to reduce his prison sentence - although he'll still spend 40 years in prison, according to local station Fox 12. Louisiana is the first and only state to allow surgical castration to be used as a punishment for sex crimes.

Actually, and I’ve been coming to this site for many years so I would imagine that a lot of people would disagree with me, but I believe that this is cruel and unusual punishment and in violation of the eighth amendment. Having said that I think execution would be an appropriate punishment. I think the forced violation of a seven-year-old girl should be a capital crime.

What he did to her was "cruel and unusual" and he can expect no less in return. That little girl will never be right again. Memory of the rape will follow her for her entire life. Therefore he should be without his junk for the rest of his life. Or better yet, move the scalpel to his throat.

I've read that in many cases castration doesn't stop them from hurting more women/girls anyway so this is a wasted effort. Execute him or life in prison.

#2, execution is the only fitting punishment. Not a deterrent? It will be in his case. This story had me reflecting on human free will this morning. The tendency is to ask, "HOW could God allow this?" It came to me that we would not have the capacity to love beyond measure, if we did not have the capacity to commit evil beyond measure. Input welcome.

I am surprised that the authorities believe castrating a man cures him of molesting anyone. It does not. The man will continue to molest people. He will use a. Pop bottle if necessary. Cut off his hand. If by chance he rapes again. Cut off the other hand.

#5 may be correct. Removing his equipment prevents him from doing anything else with his "equipment," but if he still has his hands, he can reoffend. The guillotine is probably the right punishment for him. Also, he agreed to the castration, but it's definitely in violation of the Eighth Amendment, however condign.

While this appears ”cruel” what these offenders do is permanently scar children . Eye for an eye. It also lessens the desired hormonal response to the violator. Chemical shackles don’t work. If I was king of the forrest, I would render them all eunuchs.

I hate to break it to y'all, pedophilia isn't associated with gonads, it's in the brain. So you can chop off a miscreant's package but you will still have a miscreant. A very frustrated miscreant who now has to find a new outlet for the frustrated drive. Serial murder and torture of young kids. That's what you're gonna get. There was a case here in San Antonio in the late 70s early 80s and since I'm old, my feeble memory may fail me. A guy agreed to a chemical (pharmaceutical) castration as opposed to spending some time at one of our fine state operated Iron Bar Extended Stay Hotels. Got the treatment and headed off to one of the eastern seaboard states (Maryland?). While there, he miraculously reprised his activities here in Texas. Not sure what happened to him.

As a 70 year old woman whose life has been repeatedly contaminated by the memory of the same violation at the same age, I feel this stops short of real resolution. She will have to live her ENTIRE life with this memory - trust me, you never forget. So, instead of simply removing his testes, do a FULL PENECTOMY, then send him to 40 years in prison. Hopefully what I have heard about what happens to pedos in prison is true - in spades. No, It's not as long as she will live with the horrific memory he has left her, but it's a start.

Rape of a child is so heinous that it is not addressed directly in Mosaic law and I could not find an instance of it in the Bible. The few recorded accounts of sexual violence were mostly followed by the death of the rapist. It was the prescribed punishment for a man who raped a girl when there was no one around to help or defend her. (Deuteronomy 22:25) I think it is safe to say, in the village/tribal/family-oriented culture of ancient Israel, the outrage of the fathers/grandfathers/brothers/uncles in that community would be so fierce, that raping a child was unthinkable and death for the rapist, a welcome relief. BTW, Reply 14: IMHO, God does not "allow" evil. It is in our sinful human nature, wicked, selfish choices, or satanic influences. Our loving and faithful God did everything necessary to put and keep humanity on the path of resisting evil. He gave each of us a conscience - an inner sense of moral right and wrong. Here in the Western world, most of us know about His Ten Comandments, have heard about His plan of salvation from sin through Jesus Christ, and can read the Bible or watch/listen to media broadcasting His word. But, our Creator also repects our free will. If someone rejects Him and His moral order by choosing to indulge their sinful nature, should we blame God or the person? Further, God is a spirit; He has no physical hands or feet. He works through people. Was everyone around that little one blind, indifferent, condoning, or uncaring? Was there no one to shield or protect her from undisciplined, unrestrained wickedness? Finally, I think our capacity (as Christ followers) to love beyond measure is a gift from God. It is His pure, sweet, unconditional love flowing from one imperfect human being to another imperfect human, releasing His healing power to both. Human evil however, is an entirely different kettle of fish swimming in an entrely different ocean! :-) So, now that we are aware of her situation, those who believe in the power of prayer, please ask God to raise up someone/s to love, care for, and work to heal that child, physically and emotionally. Ask Him to block the Enemy from further encroaches on her life. Her heart and soul will be forever changed. But we serve a just and loving God Who makes wrong things right. And add the thousands of unknown others in her situation to your prayer list, ask for God's before-hand intervention. Be alert, vigilant, and unafraid to prayerfully intervene in what might be happening right under your own nose. Amen.

Have been asking for this for ages. Rape a child, get castrated. And I don't mean for a serial rapist only. Rape a child one time and you are done. I hope that Pam Bondi introduces and passes this law. Two illegals raped a seven year old repeatedly, they should not only lose their private parts but their hands as well. Go to a Muslim country. You steal. One finger off.. .. next offense, another one off.... you get the drift. When you meet one without a hand you know what happened.

Cracker Barrel’s marketing fiasco shows

If the Cracker Barrel market puke has anything to teach Wall Street, it’s that investors who are deciding where to put their money must add corporate “wokeness” to their menu of risks to digest. In fact, making “woke” an investing risk factor — in some cases as important as the direction of interest rates and inflation — seems so obvious that I hesitated to write this column. Recall Bud Light’s Dylan Mulvaney fiasco, or Target CEO Brian Cornell’s recent exit following his ill-fated obsession with DEI.
