UN court rules rich nations could be required
to pay climate reparations to poorer countries

Wealthy nations that fail to limit their fossil fuel use and reduce pollution could be held financially liable by countries most affected by climate change, says the United Nations' top court in a new opinion issued Wednesday. The 15-judge International Court of Justice (ICJ), based in The Hague, Netherlands, concluded that international treaties require developed countries to curb global warming and oversee the climate impact of companies operating under their jurisdiction.[snip] The court’s finding extends legal responsibility beyond governments to include private corporations operating within national borders.

Translated this means, US fork over all the money that you have, we want it NOW so that we can brag that we are richer than the US. Right. We have had enough of the climate rubbish. Not a penny from the US.

One more reason for the US to divorce itself from the UN and this kangaroo court. Kick them to the curb and as we walk out the door and lock it invite "them" to go somewhere else and peddle their nonsense.

Someone explain to the UN Court that we are a sovereign nation and their 'court' has no authority over us. Then kick them out of this country.

As far back as I can remember (which is getting to be pretty far back) the UN in NY in particular, but in all branches and activities, was the safe haven of well-connected nepo gadabouts and diplomatic career ne'er-do-wells. Like Captain Renault in Casablanca I'm shocked, shocked! to see they're demanding money for nothing. I think a far more effective remedy for our climate change emergency is for all of them to exhale less, say, 10% less every year. Hopefully the crisis will have breathed it last about the time Greta Thunberg predicted the end of the world anyway.

Thinly disguised wealth transfer. The US grew to the powerhouse economy that it is by being friendly to foreign investment. I wonder how friendly the third world countries are to it. The US should tell the UN to go pound sand, withdraw from it, and kick it out of the US. Anymore, it only seems to want to beat up on countries like the US.

Prove it. Any of it. Prove that we can change the climate. Prove that we are. Prove that the poorer countries are not. Prove that Global Warming is detrimental. Prove that human activity is significant compared to natural activity. Prove that natural activity will be affected by any change we make. Prove that money changing hands will make the climate "better". Prove that the climate is not the way it should be. Prove anything at all about the climate. Anything. I am still waiting for the first thing! Prove what bird will be sitting on the power line outside of my house in three months. {scoffs} Scientsts! {scoffs} Science is a method leading to a proof. I don't see much science in the climate "sciences".

I have read the Constitution many times, and I am 100% confident that it doesn't have anything giving the autonomy of the USA to the control of UN courts. If I were the UN, I wouldn't even think about trying this while Donald Trump is president of the USA. He will remove us from the UN faster than you can blink!!!!!

ISRAEL says some of Iran's highly-enriched near weapons-grade uranium stockpile survived US bombings during the 12-Day War last month. Doubts remained about whether Iran quietly removed 408.6 kgs of uranium from its most sensitive sites before the strikes - potentially hiding nuclear material elsewhere in the country. The uranium in question is enriched to 60 per cent - way above levels for civilian usage but slightly below weapons-grade. That material, if further refined to 90 per cent, would theoretically be sufficient to produce more than nine nuclear bombs. An Israeli official told The New York Times some of the uranium stockpile survived the US and Israeli bombings last month

The U.S. has closed its southern border again to livestock imports, saying a flesh-eating parasite has moved further north in Mexico than previously reported. Mexico’s president was critical Thursday, suggesting that the U.S. is exaggerating the threat to its beef industry from the parasite, the New World screwworm fly. The female flies lay eggs in wounds on warm-blooded animals, hatching larvae that are unusual among flies for feeding on live flesh and fluids instead of dead material. American officials worry that if the fly reaches Texas, its flesh-eating maggots could cause large economic losses, something that happened decades ago. The U.S. largely eradicated the pest in the 1970s

It’s been 50 years — and countless conspiracy theories — since Jimmy Hoffa first disappeared, and his case remains one of the most infamous and vexing unsolved mysteries in U.S. history. The ex-Teamsters boss left his cottage home in suburban Lake Orion, Mich., near Detroit on July 30, 1975 for a 2 p.m. meeting at the Machus Red Fox Restaurant in nearby Bloomfield Hills. He was reportedly gathering with a group of gangsters, including Anthony “Tony Pro” Provenzano, a New Jersey-based capo for the Genovese crime family, and Detroit mob boss Anthony “Tony Jack” Giacalone. Hoffa was trying to regain control of the union

Unpopular opinion: all Muslim immigration should come to an end. When President Trump first called for a pause in Muslim migration he was met with hysteria. Yet despite the hysteria has Islamic immigration truly enhanced and contributed to this country? The answer is undoubtedly "no." Zohran Mamdani proves that while not all Islamic immigrants are terrorists, their values are not in line with America. Zohran Mamdani, who was born in Uganda and became an American citizen just seven years ago, is a cautionary tale of the dangers of third-world Muslim immigration. Despite having benefited from the American dream, all he can seem to do is advocate for anti-American ideology.

A House Oversight panel subcommittee voted to subpoena Bill and Hillary Clinton on Wednesday over their alleged ties to notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s convicted accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell. Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) introduced the motion for subpoenas during a Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee hearing, and it was approved by the Republican-led panel via voice vote, with no roll call taken. The Clintons and several former top Justice Department officials — ex-FBI Director James Comey, one-time special counsel Robert Mueller and former Attorneys General Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland, Bill Barr, Jeff Sessions and Alberto Gonzales —

Pinsker Law of PR #83: “Intensity” and “popularity” aren’t the same thing, but if you spend most of your time online, intensity and popularity become utterly indistinguishable. As such, you miss the forest for the trees. Most political reporters aren’t pounding the pavement anymore, knocking on doors and buying dinner for on-the-fence sources in seedy dive bars. That era of journalism is deader than the dodo. Nowadays, reporters live, breathe, and work online; their “sources” are the voices, texts, and emails popping up on their phones.

On Friday’s “Alex Marlow Show,” host and Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow talked about Nike’s newest ad.Marlow stated, “Nike, which used to put out ads of homely, overweight women in obscure sports, now they’ve got this family guy who happens to be a straight white Christian who says — it’s a picture of him with his son saying, you’ve already won…and it’s a beautiful ad. It’s profound. … I hate that it was Nike that did it because it’s so good.”

A federal judge refused Friday to invalidate the state, city and county laws designed to protect undocumented immigrants in Chicago by prohibiting local law enforcement officials from helping federal agents, tossing a lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump. U.S. District Court Judge Lindsey Jenkins’ decision to grant Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker’s request to dismiss the lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice without holding a full trial is a major win for officials seeking to prevent federal officials from slashing billions of dollars in federal aid to Chicago and Illinois.

The great Satchel Paige once said, “Don’t look back -- something may be gaining on you.” Well, I think for Barack Obama and his cohort, something is gaining on them, and so, too, I believe it is happening now for those who engaged with Jeffrey Epstein in his illicit activities. Stuff kept hidden by the wrongdoers in the Obama and Biden administrations is coming to light, and you can expect they will amp up their deflection and distraction moves to keep the focus off what they did.
