It’s been 50 years — and countless conspiracy theories — since Jimmy Hoffa first disappeared, and his case remains one of the most infamous and vexing unsolved mysteries in U.S. history. The ex-Teamsters boss left his cottage home in suburban Lake Orion, Mich., near Detroit on July 30, 1975 for a 2 p.m. meeting at the Machus Red Fox Restaurant in nearby Bloomfield Hills. He was reportedly gathering with a group of gangsters, including Anthony “Tony Pro” Provenzano, a New Jersey-based capo for the Genovese crime family, and Detroit mob boss Anthony “Tony Jack” Giacalone. Hoffa was trying to regain control of the union

Have they used the new ground penetrating radar on that parking lot in New Jersey yet? That's the rumor but Lake Michigan and a couple of concrete blocks is much more likely.

Who cares? The guy was a gangster who got wacked. Victim and perpetrators were both dirty, no use spending so much money to figure it out.

Hoffa showed up for lunch and discovered he was the main course. Poor fella. "!!!Where's Jimmy!!!?' At a local auto racetrack back in New York, some drunk would always shout that. He was referring to Jimmy Spencer though who used to race at the track but moved up to NASCAR. Jimmy Hoffa just as applicable.

He's been dead for fifty years. Moving in mob circles is not exactly a safe career. Even many of those involved back then are dead. I doubt his remains will ever be found but, all in all, he was just another thug.

Of all the tales about Hoffa’s disappearance, I think the one told by Frank Sheeran makes the most sense. It’s not surprising that Hoffa’s blood wasn’t found in the house; Sheeran stated that the floor was covered in plastic. Sheeran also stated that he knew if he didn’t kill Hoffa as ordered, he would have been killed next. He also said that no one could have gotten close enough to Hoffa to kill him unless they were a friend of Hoffa’s; Sheeran and Hoffa had known each other for twenty years before the day he disappeared.

In 1983, playing a round with three other pros at the spacious and lengthy Nine Eagles--name changed since--in west Tampa, we stood on the elevated sixth tee, with a great panoramic view of tens of acres, including a lake that was several acres. One of my playing partners said, "Remember Jimmy Hoffa? He disappeared in Michigan. But he's not there. He's everywhere. Where is everywhere? Right here. The Teamsters brought him here so his lead-lined remains could be consumed by alligators." My fellow pro spoke as if he knew. Why doubt him? So I played a round and got close to Hoffa's remains in a Florida lake, or in alligator scat. Same as me, he's a Florida Man, too. Unlike him, I'm still kicking, uneaten by gators.

Memory from early 1976 Saturday Night Live is cloudy now, but didn't Jimmy Hoffa lose the Olympic Dead Diving championship to Generalissimo Francisco Franco when the Teamster boss fell apart before hitting the water, receiving a low score? The Generalissimo stayed in one piece, and received the gold.

Arkansas State Police said they are now looking for a suspicious white male wearing dark shorts, a dark tank top and weightlifting-type gloves.

The leftists who oppose discrimination against minorities, but favor “reverse discrimination” against other Americans to promote workplace “equity,” are about to lose a legal leg to stand on. The Supreme Court seems poised, in deciding Ames v. Ohio in the next few weeks, to decapitate the legal viability of reverse discrimination against heterosexuals — and give a strong boost to racial reverse-discrimination claims as well. Marlean Ames alleged that she suffered employment discrimination as a heterosexual in an Ohio state agency that favored LGBTQ employees.

Over the years, numerous studies, speeches and books have focused on a phenomenon known as self-sabotage. The subjects are highly successful people who throw it all away by behaving recklessly when they get to the top of the heap. Think Bill Clinton with Monica Lewinsky. Overconfidence, boredom and a notorious quest for power are among the reasons commonly identified as explanations for the destructive cycle.

But an investigation showed that his wife had been throttled, with her death ruled a homicide, prosecutors told KCRA.

WASHINGTON — Former aides to Joe Biden and other Democratic flacks were aghast Friday following a report that the 46th president recently met with party bosses to offer to put himself back in the spotlight and boost the ailing party’s image and fundraising. Biden, 82, and wife Jill sat down with newly elected Democratic National Committee chairman Ken Martin last month to pitch themselves for a revamped campaigning effort, according to NBC News. Recent public polling shows Democrats’ support has cratered, with less than one-third of Americans approving of the party’s performance since President Trump returned to the White House Jan. 20.

That’s the equivalent of one death averted for every 5,400 vaccine doses administered worldwide during the period, according to the findings published Friday in JAMA Health Forum. Official estimates say 7 million people died from the virus worldwide in those years. Led by three Stanford researchers, the study noted that 90% of the lives saved were among people 60 or older, and 82% stemmed from vaccinations administered before they tested positive for COVID.
