Mamdani Plummets in New Poll
as Republican Long Shot Surges

A new poll suggested that democratic socialist New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s sheen may already be wearing off among voters. Mamdani’s support appears to have dropped 14 percentage points from less than a week ago, based on a previous poll, while Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa’s surged 12 percent. Mamdani shocked the political world by winning the Democratic primary, defeating former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. He now faces Sliwa and Cuomo, as well as current New York City Mayor Eric Adams, in the general election. Cuomo and Adams are both running as independents, assuming they each decide to stay in the race.

Glad to hear from a real New Yorker who is a sane, reasonable person. I've been impressed with Sliwa since the long ago days of the Guardian Angels, and while I don't know a lot about him, I've heard a couple of short, not very insightful interviews (crummy interviewers) that still sounded good. I trust Mrs. Colon's judgement very much on this sort of thing. But, then....I won't be voting there, and I believe she will be.

Sliwa is a fantastic human being...for years he and his group rode the New York subways and stopped crime....their red berets were always welcomed in New York ...he was the man who scared the crap out of criminals...the streets were patrolled by the Guardian Angels and the criminals knew it...just imagine what New York could become...if he won....I guess the criminals would have to move to California were anything goes...or so says governor Newscum....

No one candidate is perfect but always like Mr. Sliwa and he truly cares about NYC. He is also an animal lover and I believe one of his hopes, if elected, is to stop the killing of cats and dogs if not adopted after a certain time in the city shelters. Saw Rep. Lawler on The Will Cain show on Friday and he was asked about this race. All he could say was that others need to withdraw, and could not even endorse Mr. Sliwa.

Sliwa could pull this off if Cuomo and Adams drain enough Democrat votes away from Mamdami. Democrats have voted for Republicans and Independents before Guiliani and Bloomberg are examples and if they are old enough to remember the City was safe and clean under their administrations but it didn't take long for the Democrats to destroy the city though.

I have a suggestion for Sliwa. In a city populated with 90% democrats, Greenies and socialists, perhaps you shouldn't be talking about defeating democrats. Perhaps you should be talking about how your policies are better and talking about defeating the entrenched elite. If you lead with republican vs democrat, half the population stops listening

New Yorkers know who Sliwa is, and know who the other candidates are as well; besides just as Trump has quality people surrounding him, there are enough people who still remember what New York still is, who can volunteer to work for Sliwa for a year or two to revitalize the city.

ISRAEL says some of Iran's highly-enriched near weapons-grade uranium stockpile survived US bombings during the 12-Day War last month. Doubts remained about whether Iran quietly removed 408.6 kgs of uranium from its most sensitive sites before the strikes - potentially hiding nuclear material elsewhere in the country. The uranium in question is enriched to 60 per cent - way above levels for civilian usage but slightly below weapons-grade. That material, if further refined to 90 per cent, would theoretically be sufficient to produce more than nine nuclear bombs. An Israeli official told The New York Times some of the uranium stockpile survived the US and Israeli bombings last month

The U.S. has closed its southern border again to livestock imports, saying a flesh-eating parasite has moved further north in Mexico than previously reported. Mexico’s president was critical Thursday, suggesting that the U.S. is exaggerating the threat to its beef industry from the parasite, the New World screwworm fly. The female flies lay eggs in wounds on warm-blooded animals, hatching larvae that are unusual among flies for feeding on live flesh and fluids instead of dead material. American officials worry that if the fly reaches Texas, its flesh-eating maggots could cause large economic losses, something that happened decades ago. The U.S. largely eradicated the pest in the 1970s
