New Mexico Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham's decision to declare a public health emergency and suspend concealed carry gun rights is being condemned on both sides of the political aisle. "I support gun safety laws," California Democrat Congressman Ted Lieu wrote on X, the platform previously called Twitter. "However, this order from the Governor of New Mexico violates the U.S. Constitution. No state in the union can suspend the federal Constitution. A Goveronor CANNOT "suspend" Constitutional Rights. This is NOT OK, and the Sheriff has it right in saying that he won't enforce her illegal orders.

Does she realize what she has done? Not just the unconstitutionally of her order but if this is allowed to stand then every single pro-life governor in the country can ban abortion in their states using the same reason she gave for banning guns. For the sake of the children/public safety. Right?

They might suspend (right of) Habeas Corpus tomorrow - Lincoln did during the Civil War. But this is nothing but a deliberate provocation in war on individual liberties and the Constitution. SHould be treated as a declaration of war.

Criminals who are shooting people with firearms will simply ignore this State Governor’s order and will keep doing what they have been doing. The only citizens who will be inconvenienced by the unlawful order will be law abiding citizens. That’s just common sense!

Actually even requiring a concealed carry permit is also unconstitutional. #3 abortion is never mentioned in the Constitution so one can't really compare it to this.

It takes a special kind of stupid to get everybody mad at you. We are witnessing another political career on the rocks. Michelle's gun ban is only one step beyond New York City where one must jump through hoops and pay a bunch of money to get a gun permit. Both are unconstitutional but New Yorkers have lived with their foolish mayors for years.

The total transparent idiocy of the gun control movement is on full display here. Not only does she absolutely not have the authority to do this, she is trying to punish law abiding citizens while doing nothing to stop crime. Criminals don’t give a rip about her ‘decrees’.

Ignore the rhetoric on both sides. Everyone in government at all levels is watching to see if governor of New Mexico gets away with this. If so, it will be used in cities, counties, states, and even at the federal level. Never mind what the constitution says because these people will overturn the constitution and replace it with something 'better'. The Democrats will take lead and the Republicans won't do anything of substance to stop it.

This tells me a lot...the rats are using every possible tool in their belt to stop America's Constitution...they don't want concealed carry because when they try and steal the 2024 election they don't want Americans able to protect themselves....it's a desperate attempt in a "in your face" ruling...and Washington is getting more desperate with each rise in the President Trump poll numbers....looks like another indictment is coming round the corner...they are losing their voter block to President Trump...and this is an attempt to feed their anti/Trump voters back into their column....

While the NM governor is clearly assaulting individual rights, specifically spelled out as part of our Constitution's Bill of Rights, some folks, presumably non-leftists, are always pre=programmed to blame any Republican not named Donald Trump, regardless of the latest democrat outrage. It's not as though McCarthy has a magic wand he can wave to force a NM governor to adhere to her oath to support the Constitution. A new act of Congress is not what is needed to stop this idiocy. Gov. Grisham, along with a complicit media, may have just revealed the democrat's 2024 election strategy, draconian COVID II extra-Constitutional assumed powers,, as the game-changer.

New Mexico has long been on my travel wish list, but no more. If petty despots can arbitrarily and capriciously suspend Constitutional rights, then there is no hope for that state - or any other. Why do these so-called "leaders" get the nerve and chutzpah to think they have any such right? They seem easily to forget that they work for us! Attorneys for former President Donald Trump want a new judge in his 2020 election interference case. In a filing Monday, they argued that Judge Tanya Chutkan should recuse herself from the case for previous statements they say give the appearance of bias. They did not outright accuse Chutkan of being biased against Trump, but highlighted statements they claimed "create a perception of prejudgment incompatible with our justice system." "Judge Chutkan has, in connection with other cases, suggested that President Trump should be prosecuted and imprisoned. Such statements, made before this case began and without due process, are inherently disqualifying,"

As RedState reported, Gov. Glenn Youngkin pardoned Scott Smith, who was arrested for disorderly conduct after challenging a school board for covering up the rape of his daughter. In one of the biggest stories of 2021 and one that likely helped sweep Republicans into power in Virginia, Smith's daughter was raped in the girl's bathroom by a boy wearing a skirt. The Loudoun County school board, which had been pushing a then-new rule allowing "transgender" students to use the bathroom of their choice, sought to cover up the rape at multiple levels. Those motivations were confirmed by a grand jury report which revealed officials ignored multiple warning signs

The Democratic mayor of a small Massachusetts city is urging state lawmakers to reform a 40-year-old “right-to-shelter” law that is putting immense strain on the area as thousands of migrant families arrive. Woburn mayor Scott Galvin said by Friday there were about 150 families living in the city’s hotels, an arrangement he called unsustainable for his 40,000 constituents. Under the 1983 right-to-shelter law, Massachusetts officials are legally required to offer housing to any homeless families seeking shelter in the state.
