If it Saves One Life and Other Meretricious Lies

It’s not unusual that power-mad politicians justify depriving us of liberty using the appeal to emotion:“If it saves one life.” Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo justified the statewide shutdown with this poppycock: “And if everything we do saves just one life, I’ll be happy.” Former president Obama said “If we save even one life from gun violence, it’s worth it.” Then vice president Joe Biden endorsed that: “As the President said, if your actions result in only saving one life, they’re worth taking.”

By definition, EVERYTHING a leftist says is a lie. So it won't save even one life. Life (except their own) means nothing to them. Abortion, forced vaccines, legalization of drugs, enabling of homelessness, drawn-out war... all traits of the left.

The love of money is the root of all evil, and this is the cause of so many of our extremely serious problems today. The other being the lack of moral character and integrity. Maybe I am nuts, but the Michael Douglas 1980’s movie, Wall Street, had a part in starting the blatant drive for accumulating wealth with one line, Greed is good. From then on it seems to me caution was thrown to the wind and attaining wealth was the single motivation for success. Not knocking success, but it seems that something switched in the American psyche that gave some individuals permission to do whatever it took to make huge amounts of money. They were the ones celebrated. Since then, the country has taken a nose dive when it comes to ethical behavior on many fronts. Nothing is important as the bottom line and corporations like BlackRock and Vanguard that support whatever agenda makes them money regardless of the harm it causes are celebrated. Sure, it is all about money, but that insatiable appetite for wealth has done a whole lot of harm. Partner that with a corrupt government and you have systemic corruption that is a existential threat to the Republic.

Until recently I had to search through the posts to find her work. However, recently she has been in the must reads for the last several weeks. Perhaps the Lucianne staff have figured out that she should be there every week. If so, good for them. I hope they keep it up. She is a gem made of common sense.

Biden could have saved 13 lives by planning the withdrawal from Afghanistan. Pelosi could have saved 2 lives and the ruination of 3,000 families by accepting Trump's offer of 10,000 National Guard. Biden could have saved millions of lives around the world by allowing ivermectin and HDQ for the treatment of covid, and being honest that many of the cases were flu, and pneumonia. Biden could have saved the population of Ukraine by not starting a war with Russia. Biden could have saved many babies by agreeing to the sanctity of life. This is a short list.

Not even the leftists really believe it ("...if it saves just one life"), or else they would not give one more dollar to fund the war in Ukraine. Perhaps Ukrainian sovereignty is worth the cost, or perhaps Zelenky's institutionalized graft and corruption is...just noting that every billion dollars given to Ukraine has drawn out that war and cost 100,000 Ukrainian and Russian lives.

Yes, Rinktum (reply#7), the love of money is, indeed, the root of all evil. I know two men who ruined good marriages (their wives are related to me) because of their love of money. The wives were devastated and the children, although not seemingly damaged psychologically, have been deprived of a stable family life. Both gave it all up by having affairs with women with money and got found out.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Michael White had only recently arrived in a grim Iranian jail when a curious fellow prisoner, an English-speaking Iranian, approached him in the courtyard for a conversation. The American did not reveal much at first, but it was the beginning of an unlikely friendship between White, a Navy veteran imprisoned on spying charges he says were unfounded, and Mahdi Vatankhah, a young Iranian political activist whose positions on social issues had drawn his government’s ire. As the men connected behind bars over a shared interest in politics and human rights, they developed a bond that proved vital for both.

The report says that his allies "have privately criticized Mr. Biden’s apparent inability to say no when Hunter sought to pull him into his business dealings." "Some allies of the president say his loyalty to his son — inviting him to state dinners, flying with him aboard Marine One and standing on the White House balcony with him — has resulted in wholly avoidable political distractions," the report continued.

If it proves to be the case that China has recruited a Briton, who held a coveted job as a researcher in Westminster, as an agent, it represents a significant escalation in Beijing’s intelligence targeting of the UK. Chinese spying efforts were once focused on the hacking and stealing of intellectual property. More recently there have been signs of a growth in human intelligence efforts, using undercover Chinese nationals in an effort to obtain information. In 2020, three alleged Chinese agents were quietly expelled by the UK.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham declared a public health emergency over "gun violence" on Thursday following the death of an 11-year-old boy. On Friday, she took the unprecedented step of "suspending" gun rights in Albuquerque, the state's largest city, with the possibility of other cities following suit. Gov. Lujan Grisham declared gun violence a public health emergency Thursday, following the murder of an 11-year-old boy on his way home from an Isotopes game Wednesday night. That case, combined with several other violent cases involving children, sparked the decision.

Woburn mayor Scott Galvin said by Friday there were about 150 families living in the city’s hotels, an arrangement he called unsustainable for his 40,000 constituents. Under the 1983 right-to-shelter law, Massachusetts officials are legally required to offer housing to any homeless families seeking shelter in the state.
