New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham declared a public health emergency over "gun violence" on Thursday following the death of an 11-year-old boy. On Friday, she took the unprecedented step of "suspending" gun rights in Albuquerque, the state's largest city, with the possibility of other cities following suit. Gov. Lujan Grisham declared gun violence a public health emergency Thursday, following the murder of an 11-year-old boy on his way home from an Isotopes game Wednesday night. That case, combined with several other violent cases involving children, sparked the decision. The new public health order is effective Friday, Sept. 8. After 30 days, they will evaluate

FTA: "To say this is unconstitutional is a massive understatement. Gun rights, including duly passed open and concealed carry laws, can't simply be "suspended" by a governor, and doing so under the guise of an emergency is tyrannical." Does the constitutionality of this move concern Ms. Grisham? Apparently it does not concern her in the least, but making some blithering statement seems to have opened the conversation.

Do I understand this correctly? Legal gun owners are being punished because criminals/murderers with illegal guns will be free to continue to commit crimes. The Governor seems to forget that criminals ignore the laws and don't really care what the Governor "declares". She is just another Democrat petty dictator.

So her edict takes away a citizen's right to carry a gun (concealed or open) in high crime areas. How does that in even the slightest way make any sense at all? That's like saying when driving through a hailstorm, you're not allowed to put the top up on your convertible.

Until a governor can stop criminals from bearing arms I don't see any way that this is Constitutional. We, as Americans, have the "RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS", it is not a gift from the government of the state or the nation, It is a RIGHT, And according to our Constitution it is an INALIENABLE right that cannot be recinded. Here is the definition in case you are a brain dead democrat... in·al·ien·a·ble /inˈālēənəb(ə)l/ adjective unable to be taken away from or given away by the possessor. "freedom of religion, the most inalienable of all human rights" Thes are rights we are born with as humans, There is no law or legislation that can take these rights away from us regardless of the New Communist Democrat party's attempt to do so.

#22 nails it. The totalitarians love their “emergency” powers, Covid just gave them a taste of what they could do, and they crave more and more. Health emergencies, climate emergencies, “insurrection” emergencies will all be used to deny us our rights. The courts are too slow and cumbersome to stop it all, and even with clear legal guidance, they will just ignore laws they find inconvenient, just like this tin pot governor is now doing. And despite all the abuses of emergency powers we saw during Covid, I don’t believe any state has significantly re used their laws to limit such abuse in the future.

Common sense tells us that the criminals who perpetuate the aggravated assaults and murders using firearms will simply ignore the Governor’s order, as they do other laws, and will carry on as usual. The only citizens who will be inconvenienced and maybe arrested for carrying their firearms for the most part will be the law abiding citizens. The question is how can a Governor of a State waive a right granted to law abiding citizens by the US Constitution?

We literally just moved from Albuquerque to Florida in the last month because of the gross buffoonery that is New Mexico and the "Duke City" that is owned by the cartels. New Mexico ranks at the bottom (top?) of every undesirable list: DUI, high school graduation rates, violent crime, child welfare, etc. Breaking Bad was a documentary, folks, not a drama. The mayor of Albuquerque (Tim Keller) is just as much an inept fool and tyrant as Little Governor Stompy Foot. During the Covid lockdowns she got jewelry and food delivered, her hair done, and was observed walking around without a mask just like all the other glitterati who think the rules they dictate are sacrosanct but only applicable to the masses. Note also her comments to a local ABQ TV station (KOAT): “I can invoke additional powers," Lujan Grisham said. "No constitutional right, in my view, including my oath, is intended to be absolute." Let the bald-faced intent of her remark and comfort in expression sink in for a few minutes and project forward what her and her ilk would truly do if they felt they had unfettered power. They're almost there...

#1 cause of death of young children is drowning, it's also the number 2 cause of death of ALL children. New Mexico's rate of drowning children is almost double the national average, 3-5 times the national rate for drownings in "Public Places", while absolute numbers have appeared to drop in recent years(perhaps due to drought) This concerned Governors only logical recourse is an executive edict to..."Ban all Water, in Public lakes/ponds/canals and Pools, order the suspension of all Rainfall in the more urban/populated areas, In particular Sierra County where drowning is 68% higher than elsewhere in the State".

As RedState reported, Joe Biden gave a presser for the ages in Vietnam on Sunday. This time, it wasn't just his senility and references to "dog-faced poney soldiers" that raised eyebrows, though. Former White House chief medical advisor Anthony Fauci said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that there were “a number of studies that show that masks actually do work” to stop the spread of COVID-19. Anchor Jon Karl said, “There’s a new study out that suggests that masks were actually not effective, at least not in a global sense, in containing the pandemic. What is your sense looking back at all of this? Did masks prove to be less effective than you anticipated?” Fauci said, “You know, Jon, some of the studies are confusing. The study that has been quoted a lot and causing a lot of confusion is this Cochrane Study

Mayor Adams warned Saturday that all New York City agencies may have to slash up to 15% from their budgets by the spring in response to the ever-rocketing costs of the migrant crisis. All departments were told they will need to slash 5% from their budget by November, amounting to a several billion dollar haircut from the city-funded portion of Adams’ $107 billion spending plan. But if the city doesn’t get enough financial aid from the Biden administration or state legislators by early next year, Adams warned additional 5% cuts could come in both January and April. “The simple truth is that longtime New Yorkers and asylum seekers will feel

(snip) Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom and state lawmakers created California’s Reparations Task Force in 2020 with the goal of establishing a path to reparations that could serve as a model for the nation. Similarly, 40 percent of Republicans who have an opinion as to the pope’s ideological leanings said he was “very liberal” or “liberal” whereas only 14 percent of Democrats said the same.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez might want her followers to believe inflation is “propaganda” — but her constituents aren’t buying it. The firebrand Democratic congresswoman used her Instagram stories to share a video from New Zealand’s left-wing Aotearoa Liberation League in which an activist claimed the “propaganda” surrounding inflation was designed to protect “greedy shareholders,” who are truly to blame for the rising cost of living. But when The Post visited Ocasio-Cortez’s constituents in the 14th district, which comprises areas in both Queens and in the southeastern part of the Bronx, all of them reported economic pain and many said the Biden administration should not be left off the hook.
