An outraged parent and gun rights groups are speaking out against an Alabama elementary school that suspended a first-grader, reportedly for making a finger gun. Jerrod Belcher, whose six-year-old son J.B. attends Bagley Elementary School in Jefferson County, Alabama, says the school over-reacted to a game of "cops and robbers." (snip) According to the attorney and school staff, on September 1, J.B. and another student were playing "cops and robbers" during recess. During the game, the children made pretend guns with their fingers and said "Bang, bang" at each other.

If memory serves, this isn't the first time I've heard of some little kid getting in trouble for pretending his hand is a gun. Then there was the little tyke who got suspended for making his pop tart into the shape of a gun. Madness.

Sadly, I'm sure if the boys had been out on the playground pretending to do homosexual sex acts on each other, they would have gotten an award!!!! I am so glad that both my daughter and daughter-in-law are both homeschooling their grandchildren. They were both hesitant at first, but the most insane and evil the public schools got (even here in Texas), they knew they had no choice. And both are doing a great job, with my grandbabies all way outperforming their public-school peers (though I'm sure the public-school kids are much better at naming all 92 fictional genders -- which we call mental illness conditions).

In Death Wish (1974) after vigilante architect Paul Kersey had been convinced to move out of New York by the NYPD's Frank Ochoa, he alighted in Chicago's O'Hare airport, where some thugs were harassing a woman. He came to her aid and the thugs taunted him. Then he pulled a fully loaded finger and pointed it at them so they would get the message. Wasn't the 2018 Death Wish with Bruce Willis set in Chicago? Violent thugs, especially the armed ones, ought to have to worry that they don't attack the wrong types of people and pay the price. If the worst criminals were off the streets in prison instead of running free through American cities, they wouldn't have to worry about meeting a bad ending, whether by citizen or cop. Vigilante justice is illegal, and should be. But it's understandable.

A federal appeals court ruled against Mississippi’s permanent voting ban for certain felons, going against Supreme Court precedent in doing so. (snip) Judge Edith Jones countered in a dissenting opinion that the majority ruling itself contradicted the Constitution and reflected judicial activism. (snip) Jones also cited the Supreme Court precedent set in the 1974 case Richardson v. Ramirez, which determined that felon voting bans don’t violate the Equal Protection Clause. In that case, the court ruled that the question of handling voting rights for felons should be hashed out in a legislative forum, and that it wasn’t for their court to “choose one set of values over another.”
